5. Cars: The story is pretty standard for Pixar, but at least the characters were still likable, the heart felt genuine, and the animation was excellent. The message about slowing down and appreciating the smaller things in life/respecting the past was also pretty solid. 4. Wall-E: Wonderful use of silence in the first act, adorable chemistry between Wall-E and Eve, great use of an environmental message, and spectacular animation. 3. Ratatouille: Beautiful view of Paris, exquisite look at the culinary arts, strong characters and conflict, fantastic use of lighting, and an outstanding message at the end. 2. Toy Story 3: I may have like the fourth movie fine, but this is the better finale for me (not counting the shorts or TV specials). It did a great job expanding on the dilemmas of kids outgrowing their toys, Lotso was an incredibly threatening villain, the new characters were likable, the old ones still felt like their original selves, the animation was a major upgrade from its predecessors, the leads' plans to escape their prison were entertaining and creative, and the emotional aspects were powerful (especially the infamous incinerator scene and the ending). The only complaints I have are that it felt a tad too bleak at times and making Buzz act like his previous self felt a little forced. 1. Up: Beautiful opening, gorgeous animation, fun adventures, great characters and interactions, and strong message about exploring new things and opening up to others.
I am so happy you get why Ratatouille is loved. Cause i was not expecting it. 5: Cars 7/10 (a good movie, but not great) 4: Wall-e 7/10 (a good movie, but it has been a long time since i saw it) 3: Up 8/10 (a great Pixar and one of my favorites) 2: Toy Story 3 9/10 (what an ending to franchise) 1: Ratatouille 10/10 (The best pixar and animated movie ever!!!)
5. Cars. I _loved_ it as a kid, but in retrospect, not as much as the other films here. 4. Ratatoille. It was a fun movie. Not the best Pixar film, but certainly not the worst either. 3. Up. I've always felt that most people really only thinks of the opening than anything else, and that's kind of a letdown. But it's still an amazing film that deserves its Best Picture nomination. 2. Toy Story 3. It's a fun film to watch, with a terrific and relatable story, an outstanding villain, and overall a great chemistry. Very much should have gotten that Best Picture. 1. WALL-E. I'm a sucker for romance films, so this movie hits exactly where it needs to be. The chemistry between WALL-E and EVE (the main selling point of the film IMO) is a blast, and I absolutely enjoyed watching them slowly falling over each other. Overall a movie which I absolutely recommends watching on repeats.
1. Tie between Toy Story 3 and Ratatouille (Two gems I enjoyed in my childhood and still enjoy now) 3. Up (A cute film with a great message and even greater characters) 4. Cars (I know this film like the back of my hand) 5. Wall•E (I like the film, but not enough to keep watching it over and over again)
Now this is gonna be tricky for me as All 5 of these Movies are Pretty Good or Spectacular, not to mention there is not a Bad Pixar Movie of this Era So I decided to do a different approach, instead of doing a Rankings List which ranks from Worst to Best, I decided to make a Rankings List which details how much I like or love the movie. With all that said, Here is My Rankings List For Pixar's Golden Age. And Number 1: Wall-E: This Movie, Is Still The All Time Best Pixar Movie. No other Pixar Movie can top the levels of Wall-E, the Realisim looks so Realistic, the Robots looks so Cute, and Pretty Mechnical (No Pun Intended), the look and feel of Earth and later the Axiom are lifelike. and Wall-E & Eve's Romance, is there I say it, Beautiful, this is Andrew Stanton at it's Best, as he can not only corporate some of his personal life on his movies, but also his desire and love for these genres. I Love Wall-E, still do. It truly is the Best Pixar Movie of the Golden Age, and the Besr Pixar Movie of All Time. 2: Cars 1: Ah Yes, My First Childhood Favorite Disney Movie, and Pixar Movie, it still is, but what everyone keeps forgetting is that favorite doesn't equel Best, This is My Favorite Cars Movie, the fact is, Cars 1 is The Best Cars Movie, and I still Love it to this very day. now why is it Number 2 on this Rankings List you might ask, this is because that, again, this is a Rankings List that details of how much I Like Or Love A Movie, and also because this movie is one of my favorite Pixar Movies Ever, From The Racing Scenes, Tow Mater, Lightning McQueen, the Characters, The Interactions, The Story, The Art Design, It Feels Real, It is a Passionate Love Letter to Racing and The Real Life Route 66 itself, which fun fact this movie brought Route 66 back on the map in real life. I Still Love The First Lightning McQueen Movie to this very day, but I know what the next movie is going to be. 3: Toy Story 3: Huh I actually made a pun, Anyways, Toy Story 3 is the Best Toy Story Movie, it's better then Toy Story 1, better then Toy Story 2, and even better then Toy Story 4. But does this mean it was a perfect finale to the Toy Story Movies and should've been the Last Toy Story Movie, No. For Two Reasons, First Off there were two TV Specials after this film which it might as well be Toy Story Movies, and Secondly Toy Story 3 while ending the Movies it also brought Toy Story back from the dead as it was about to be forgotten by Disney and Pixar and if it wasn't for Toy Story 3 the Franchise would've been dead after Toy Story 2 was released. But is Toy Story 3 still amazing, Yes, because it litterly improves the Movies, while Toy Story was a Buddy Comedy, this was released in 2010, this movie was released after Pixar started to get better & better with their writing and storytelling, no longer have the movie be broken with plot holes and a generic story, with a slight chance of dated jokes, Toy Story 3 is still the Best Toy Story Movie, without a doubt, but this isn't because of the ending, which while mostly relatable, it wasn't just the ending that made Toy Story 3 impactful, it was the entire movie itself, everything surrounding Toy Story 3 is about growing up, and move on from your friends and family, this is more evident with Woody over the course of the movie wanted to stay with Andy forever, indicating that he hasn't let go of him, while Buzz & Jessie have been moved on from being Andy's Playthings and, continuing the romance that was hinted at the end of Toy Story 2. I Love Spanish Buzz, a lot of SML Fans would enjoy Ken in this because they've seen him with Cody (I like Ken, I'm just, not the g word) and Barbie gets more screentime then how she was in the 2nd Movie. Overall Toy Story 3 is the Best Toy Story Movis, and I Love it above Ratatouille, but not as much as I Love the Next Movie on this list. 4: Ratatouille: I'm not a Food Guy, but I do have to admit, Ratatouille is a Home Baked Masterpiece, From Patton Oswalt (The Voice of Jessie from Minecraft Story Mode Max from the Secret Life of Pets 2 and recently M.O.D.O.K. From M.O.D.O.K.) as Remy, I like his brother (that I forgot his name) I enjoyed Linguini, Anton Ego was a pretty surprising antagonist, which is ironic because Remy surprised him, and, Gusteau is one of Pixar's Best Mentors. But to be honest, I don't have the nostalgia for this movie anymore. Now don't get me wrong I Love Ratatouille, I just don't love the movie that much anymore. And it's not weird, just so you know. So, that's why it's here to be honest. 5: Up: Guys, Guys, Before everyone attacks me, Let Me Explain. Up is a Great Movie, it's my 3rd Favorite Pete Doctor Movie, but I don't love it as much as everyone else does. I think the Movie is, overpraised, it's mainly overpraised, because of the First 15 Miniutes of Up, as the guy from Pixar vs DreamWorks said in that 2 Parter "EVEN, SCHINDLER's LIST CAN't EVEN PULL THAT OFF!!!". And That's What People Still Talks About, Up is Emotional, but it's not just the First 15 Minutes, it's Russel's Backstory, Carl Fredwickson gives Russel the Ellie Badge, heck even Carl Russel & Dug says goodbye to Kevin and her babies was emotional, the Movie isn't an emotional tragedy, it's a Love Letter and Homage to the Classic Adventure Movies of the 1930s, similar to what Indiana Jones did back in the 80s. The Action Scenes are good, Dug is funny and a good character, and let's not forget the Funny Moments and Emotional Moments, between Carl, and Russel. Up is a Great Movie, I just don't love it because of the Opening.
The Golden Age is from 1995 - 2010 11. Cars (4/10) 10. A Bug’s Life (6/10) 9. Finding Nemo (7/10) 8. Up (7/10) 7. Toy Story (7/10) 6. Monsters, Inc. (9/10) 5. Toy Story 3 (9/10) 4. The Incredibles (10/10) 3. Wall•E (10/10) 2. Toy Story 2 (10/10) 1. Ratatouille (10/10)
This is my current ranking of the Pixar Golden Age: 1) WALL*E (9.5/10) 2) Up (9.5/10) 3) Ratatouille (9/10) 4) Toy Story 3 (9/10) 5) Cars (8/10) I haven't watched them in a year, though, and I didn't have my ratings in order then, so I can see Ratatouille becoming one of my favorite movies. TS3 is actually my favorite movie in the Toy Story franchise, but all of them are 9/10s, which means that I love them, but they've never been any of my personal favorites.
When I found out that Pixar and Disney weren't the same, that sure confused me, but then after learning the story of the acquisition I guess it was only natural that they keep doing what works for both of them. With that said: Up < Ratatouille < Cars < Toy Story 3 < Wall-E
Wow they are too good but my ranking is: 5. Cars (9.7/10) I love this movie its a really amazing one. The animation is really strong, and the story is good but its not as good as Pixar movies standard. 4. Ratatouille (9.7/10) If it were about favourites I would put Cars above Ratatouille, but for overall creativity and maturity I would have to put Ratatouille over Cars. I didnt connect with the story that much and I crave for more Inside Out movies than Ratatouille movies (thats just my opinion) 3. Up (10/10) Love this movie. Love the director (although this is my least favourite out of his collection which says a lot) The first 10 minutes are usually the most talked about, and they deserve it. But the rest is also really well crafted. 2. Wall.E (10/10) One of the best movie ever made. Story, expressiveness, animation, character, structure, romance, everything is done on a very high level. One of my favourite movies of all time. Toy Story3 (9999999999999/10) Best movie ever made in my opinion. The story is better than any story I've ever seen. A good way to introduce one of the best directors in history. One of the best animation. The best story our of any movie I have ever seen. The most emotional movie I have seen. The most movie I have ever seen. And of course the best movie I have ever seen.
Well this you know, it’s funny I actually read a biography book recently called “bob iger: ride of a lifetime,” and touched quite a lot on the Pixar acquisition. It really was quite an interesting and fascination read overall and I highly recommend it too for anyone who’s interested in his life’s history with the Disney company.
Hooray! I'm so happy to see the Pixar rankings continue! As always, a stellar job laying out your thoughts on each film! And thank you for the positive feedback to my comments on previous videos! It really means a lot! Here is my personal ranking of the Pixar Golden Age: #1: WALL-E - My personal favorite not just in this list, but in the entire Pixar canon due to absolutely gorgeous animation and truly stunning character moments. The studio truly deserves endless praise for its effectiveness in portraying emotion and character depth, despite many dialogue-free scenes and the two leads being robots. (9.4/10) #2: Up - Quite possibly the saddest, yet most heart-warming animated film of all time. Beautiful in every sense of the word. (9.4/10) #3: Toy Story 3 - This was the Toy Story film that made me truly fall in love with the franchise. Wonderful characters, excellent comedy, and multiple tugs at the ol' heartstrings make this the perfect finale to the beloved series (until they decided to make a fourth). (8.7/10) #4: Ratatouille - A film that is positively dripping with atmosphere! Easily the coziest Pixar film, fittingly comparable to a delicious serving of your favorite comfort food. (8.5/10) #5: Cars - While it may not fire on all cylinders, 'Cars' still manages to run strong on stunning animation, important themes, endearing characters, and an effective story structure. (7.4/10)
Thanks PJ!! This is an ongoing series, and have another three parts left! Had to skip one last month due to all the Halloween rankings! Glad you're enjoying - and great list again, thanks for the time and effort!
My son says: This is my personal ranking: 1. Cars (10/10: Incredible, underrated, masterpiece) 2. Ratatouille (9.8/10: Beautiful, touching) 3. WALL-E (9.4/10: Super underrated, very touching and inspiring) 4. Up (9.4/10: Funny, touching, beautiful) 5. Toy Story 3 (9.2/10, Funny/heartwarming, but not quite as good as TS1 or TS2)
My *EMOTIONAL* ranking (I also have a technique one, which in many respects also differs a lot)! Ah, and I must immediately specify that I've very unpopular tastes) 😉👍🏻: 1) Up (10-, one of my favourite movie *EVER* and my 4th favourite Pixar movie) 2) Cars (10-, one of my favourite movie *EVER* and my 5th favourite Pixar movie) 3) Wall-E (9.5, one of the bonuses of my favourite movie *EVER* and my 11th favourite Pixar movie) 4) Toy Story 3 (9++, one of the bonuses of my favourite movie *EVER* and my 15th favourite Pixar movie) 5) Ratatouille (8.5, my 21th favourite Pixar movie)
I know this is an unpopular opinion but Cars was and always will be my favorite Pixar movie as no movie they made since it has made me feel like I was in the world.
I definitely agree that this stretch of films should be dubbed the golden age, I don’t dislike any of those films. Also, I’d call Cars 2-TS4 the experimentation age or maybe the sequel age.
Almost feels unfair to include Cars in the Golden Age, makes sense though historically... Cars - 8 Up - 10 WALL-E - 10 Ratatouille - 10 Toy Story 3 - 10 Always pleases me to hear when people had the same personal response to Toy Story 3 as I did 🙂
I seem to be in the minority here, but my ranking is: 5) Up - tbh after the opening I think Up is fairly mediocre 4) Ratatouille 3) Toy Story 3 2) Wall-E 1) Cars - yep, I know, not the most popular opinion here but I love this one!
I have a question. Why was there such a drastic change from your ranking of two years ago, where Cars got 6th place and here it is in last? It's just a question. I just really liked how you talked about Cars on your ranking as I love this movie too, but in here it just seems like your opinion heavily changed
There’s no change in my opinion on Cars, simply my opinion on Wall-E and Ratatouille has changed with time. I still like Cars the same amount. And it’s unfair to say “how was it 6th but now it’s last” when one video ranks more than 20 movies, while this one ranks only 6.
I personally feel like this era is pretty lackluster. With the exception of Toy Story 3, these movies feel a bit gimmicky to me at best, and at worst a bit emotionally manipulative. I have yet to revisit any of them though (I only saw Cars recently actually) so my opinions could change.
I'm sorry but I have to say this: Ratatouille is not even similar to Cars. Cars is not about a small guy trying to achieve his dream. McQueen is a car, in a world of cars trying to be good at a sport that cars play. Remy is a Rat in a in a world of many different species, mainly humans here, trying to be good at what humans do. They are very different movies.
I’m sorry, but you’re looking at these movies on surface level - taking them too literally. Break down the outer elements, ignore the WHO and the WHAT and look at the raw elements of the stories. Small guys, achieving big things.
@@DaveLeeDownUnder alright, that makes sense now, I get what you're saying, but they are still very different films, with very different stories. I appreciate the reply though, it is very cool of you to take the time to answer comments. Also sorry if I sounded like a hater, but I was sharing my thoughts
5. Cars (pretty bland, but a good time killer) 4. Toy’s Story 3 (rehashing similar plots from the previous movies, but still fine) 3. Up (emotional and warm-hearted, though the plot felt like it was dragging at times) 2. Ratatouille (gorgeous setting and esthetic of Paris. Makes me hungry) 1. Wall-E (Out of this world animation with charm and variety with characters that hardly speak)
The Godmother: Just you wait my darlings til you meet your gracious hostess ! The Godmother: So okay , I ain't the Avon Lady! Malicious: Forget the food greedy guts, what i want is money! Malicious: I hate Halloween Blahhh! Small: Thank you Fairy Godmother. Bazooey: Fairy Godmother my foot! That's a wicked witch ! Rotten: Boy look at this dump! It's really Rotten!😈
My ranking (all 5 of these films are great): 5. Cars ( the most generic plot, but still a great story with iconic characters) 4. Ratatouille (I've never connected with this one compared to other Pixar films, but it's still a great film with a beautiful message) 3. WALL-E (the Pixar movie which only improves with age) 2. Toy Story 3 (a beautiful swan song for the original trilogy) 1. Up (made my #1 for the masterful opening 10 minutes alone)
5. Cars (this was Pixar’s first dud. I don’t understand why they were all cars. What narrative purpose did it serve? It was also boring and cliched but hey at least it isn’t the second film) 4. Toy Story 3 (this film was such a great finale to the trilogy and it really should’ve stopped here. While I love it, I don’t adore it as much as the second film but I can’t deny the risks that it took and how much the animation has improved since the first film) 3. Up (probably the first time I ever cried in a movie theater at a young age. Of course the first 10 minutes are perfection while the rest of the film is also pretty good. I really like the adventure and like that they didn’t just make Carl a basic grumpy old man.) 2. Ratatouille (this made up for Cars and really reminded me of Pixar’s glory days. This is defiantly the most adult feeling Pixar film as it took me several viewings over the years to really appreciate it for what it is. It also helps that I have grown a passion for cooking and this film perfectly showcases it.) 1. WALL-E (this is the most underrated Pixar film in my opinion. Everything about it was really captivating for me when I first saw it. From the visual, to the romance, to the message, to the fact that barely any dialogue is spoken and yet they still manage to make the two leads captivating and emotional characters. Andrew Stanton is my favorite Pixar director and I have this and Finding Nemo to thank for really making me appreciate the animation medium.)
5: Cars 7/10 (a good movie, but not great)
4: Wall-e 7/10 (a good movie, but it has been a long time since i saw it)
3: Up 8/10 (a great Pixar and one of my favorites)
2: Toy Story 3 9/10 (what an ending to franchise)
1: Ratatouille 10/10 (The best pixar and animated movie ever!!!)
😊looking forward to seeing soul on Disney plus
I think wall-e and up are better than ratatuille
I am so exited but i should be realesed in the theater

This is my current ranking of the Pixar Golden Age:
1) WALL*E (9.5/10)
2) Up (9.5/10)
3) Ratatouille (9/10)
4) Toy Story 3 (9/10)
5) Cars (8/10)
I haven't watched them in a year, though, and I didn't have my ratings in order then, so I can see Ratatouille becoming one of my favorite movies. TS3 is actually my favorite movie in the Toy Story franchise, but all of them are 9/10s, which means that I love them, but they've never been any of my personal favorites.
5. Wall-E
4. Cars
3. Up
2. Ratatouille
1. Toy Story 3
Up and Wall-e would be my favorite of this grouping
Me too 😎
When I found out that Pixar and Disney weren't the same, that sure confused me, but then after learning the story of the acquisition I guess it was only natural that they keep doing what works for both of them. With that said:
Up < Ratatouille < Cars < Toy Story 3 < Wall-E
Good listing Dave, My ranking for the Golden age Pixar films are:
1. Toy Story 3
2. Wall-E
3. Up
4. Ratatouille
5. Cars
Wow they are too good but my ranking is:
I didnt connect with the story that much and I crave for more Inside Out movies than Ratatouille movies (thats just my opinion)
And of course the best movie I have ever seen.
my ranking:
5. Cars
4. Wall-E
3. Up
2. Ratatouille
1. Toy Story 3
(I love every movie in this era)
My Pixar Silver Age Rankings

5. The Good Dinosaur
6. Finding Dory
Here is my personal ranking of the Pixar Golden Age:
#1: WALL-E - My personal favorite not just in this list, but in the entire Pixar canon due to absolutely gorgeous animation and truly stunning character moments. The studio truly deserves endless praise for its effectiveness in portraying emotion and character depth, despite many dialogue-free scenes and the two leads being robots. (9.4/10)
#2: Up - Quite possibly the saddest, yet most heart-warming animated film of all time. Beautiful in every sense of the word. (9.4/10)
#3: Toy Story 3 - This was the Toy Story film that made me truly fall in love with the franchise. Wonderful characters, excellent comedy, and multiple tugs at the ol' heartstrings make this the perfect finale to the beloved series (until they decided to make a fourth). (8.7/10)
#4: Ratatouille - A film that is positively dripping with atmosphere! Easily the coziest Pixar film, fittingly comparable to a delicious serving of your favorite comfort food. (8.5/10)
#5: Cars - While it may not fire on all cylinders, 'Cars' still manages to run strong on stunning animation, important themes, endearing characters, and an effective story structure. (7.4/10)
Thanks PJ!! This is an ongoing series, and have another three parts left! Had to skip one last month due to all the Halloween rankings! Glad you're enjoying - and great list again, thanks for the time and effort!

3 Wall-E

They have to use their good old formula for movies and not just sequels like they do for 4 years
My *EMOTIONAL* ranking (I also have a technique one, which in many respects also differs a lot)! Ah, and I must immediately specify that I've very unpopular tastes) 😉👍🏻:
1) Up (10-, one of my favourite movie *EVER* and my 4th favourite Pixar movie)
2) Cars (10-, one of my favourite movie *EVER* and my 5th favourite Pixar movie)
3) Wall-E (9.5, one of the bonuses of my favourite movie *EVER* and my 11th favourite Pixar movie)

5) Ratatouille (8.5, my 21th favourite Pixar movie)
1. Ratatouille

3. WALL▪︎E
4. Up
5. Cars
Ratatouille in my opinion is the best movie outta these 5. *ITS JUST SO ENGAGING*
My List
5. Cars
4. Toy Story 3
3. Ratatouille
2. Up
1. Walle
Almost feels unfair to include Cars in the Golden Age, makes sense though historically...
Cars - 8
Up - 10
WALL-E - 10
Ratatouille - 10
Toy Story 3 - 10
Always pleases me to hear when people had the same personal response to Toy Story 3 as I did 🙂

The Dark Age was the only age where there was no Toy Story film. The Golden Age was very beloved.
Where's the next age of pixar ranking
This month.
😃😃😃
(More specifically, next week 😋)
I think people hate Cars because of the Cars 2, the first film had rules and second film kinda broke those rules
MY RANKING
5 UP
4 RATOTOULLIE
3 CARS
2 TOY STORY 3
1 WALLE
I'm sorry but I have to say this:
Ratatouille is not even similar to Cars.

Pixar Silver Age (2011-2016)
My ranking (all 5 of these films are great):
5. Cars ( the most generic plot, but still a great story with iconic characters)
4. Ratatouille (I've never connected with this one compared to other Pixar films, but it's still a great film with a beautiful message)
3. WALL-E (the Pixar movie which only improves with age)
2. Toy Story 3 (a beautiful swan song for the original trilogy)
1. Up (made my #1 for the masterful opening 10 minutes alone)
Anyone else really not liking YT's new interface and design?
What is the difference between "Platinum Age" and "Golden Age"?
P.S. Also known as "PIXAR Silver Age".
Wall E is my favorite out of all of them
Worst to Best? It should be Okay to Best
5. Cars (this was Pixar’s first dud. I don’t understand why they were all cars. What narrative purpose did it serve? It was also boring and cliched but hey at least it isn’t the second film)
4. Toy Story 3 (this film was such a great finale to the trilogy and it really should’ve stopped here. While I love it, I don’t adore it as much as the second film but I can’t deny the risks that it took and how much the animation has improved since the first film)
3. Up (probably the first time I ever cried in a movie theater at a young age. Of course the first 10 minutes are perfection while the rest of the film is also pretty good. I really like the adventure and like that they didn’t just make Carl a basic grumpy old man.)
2. Ratatouille (this made up for Cars and really reminded me of Pixar’s glory days. This is defiantly the most adult feeling Pixar film as it took me several viewings over the years to really appreciate it for what it is. It also helps that I have grown a passion for cooking and this film perfectly showcases it.)
Wall-E is not underrated. It’s considered one of the best movies of the 2000s
