Footstool combos, were one of them. Saying that this game is any faster is almost a lie considering most of the cast in 4 could easily take you to 70 or 80 with optimized combos, some could hit you once and kill you, like meta knight, sheik, Bayonetta, etc. The game is very neutral focused, and wasn't labbed hard enough, or else people would have seen some of the bullshit rob could actually do in that game. (z toss was a thing back then too) plenty of great kill confirms from Robin, MK, and the like. Game may have looked slow but it honestly wasn't, the only thing that was actually slow was how people were sent midair. Compare that to ultimate, where everything (once again) is based on how you space on shield, and how patient you are. i really liked the smash con recap. that video requires a lot of effort, especially the green screen edits with Vik in crowd randomly LOL. It was 13 minutes of high quality content!

honestly thought the grounded fs thing was only able to be done with ics gonna try to do it with ics and submit it here even tho its tas and ics hardest tech
Grounded footstools still can be shielded quicker than ones they can roll from right? So while the positioning would be more guaranteed your followups would have to be true, which I’m thinking some characters would prefer the tech chase situation more than keeping them in one spot. But that said some characters will *definitely* benefit from this. Surprised it hasn’t been discussed much/discovered before this
@@Greenix yeah no I wasn’t doubting that clip was true; I was saying “this probably wouldn’t be universally useful tech”. As in, some characters benefit from it more than others. Some might not even have true followups from it. But of course those who do WOULD benefit a lot
@@Diamond_Aura for ness’s case it’s actually worse in most cases we get a death combo just by doing dair > flymag > dair rather than that bs lol it is cooler though but basically frame perfect for ness because it requires you to preserve your double jump and ness is slow
My guess is that hitboxes always sending to the left if activated exactly in the middle of a character was a deliberate compromise by the development team and not a bug.
You guys always meme about how you can just tech footstools in this game but everyone including professional players never react to it anyways, I can remember sparg0, Leo and Marss doing it at least once but otherwise everyone gets hit by the "fake" combos lol
Alright I'll be the nerd that'll try to explain what I think happens at 6:04 even though nobody will read that As you said, when footstooling an opponent, the value of the center of your horizontal position gets setup to the same exact value as your opponent's. Because of this, the moves hitting your opponents will always send left because either : - You simply hit your opponent with a hitbox that would have send left - You hit your opponent with an aerial that would send to the right, BUT it has the internal property of being able to have reverse knockback (you've seen these when some smash attacks weirdly send backwards sometimes. Also explains why Ken didn't work) The reason a hitbox will send you in reverse of the usual knockback depends of the value of the center horizontal position of your character and of your opponent, if you hit them with the hitbox on your right, but your opponent's center is on your left, he will get sent left, and vice-versa. What we can theorize is that, when you and your opponent have the exact same center value when you hit him, it will always detect your opponent as being on your left, probably by how this check was coded (like in a case such as "if Xplayer > Xopponent"), which makes it always send left, since normal and reverse hitbox will assume the opponent is on the left. Reverse hitboxes have existed in previous smash games, but has been reduced to a togglable property by the devs, while also making it harder to get because of the fact you can't go through opponents in this game. Hopefully that explains it all to you, random guy that decided to read all of this. Have a good day ! ✌️
I found out about the footstool nair thing always sending to the left with incineroar and you can change this by simply holding a direction to launch the other way (Not many characters can be footstool naired and it varies in the air)
My suspicion of the footstool becoming grounded its that it will happen if the victims feet are close to the platform than some other body part, or perhaps below the midpoint of their collision box...
I knew it. Im developing a footstool setup for Joker on plats and found it(the grounded footstool on plats) by accident some weeks ago. I was intending to show a tutorial with real matches evidences but I wasnt able to catch them yet, just some examples in training mode. :v
ruclips.net/video/4l5wvilcJpI/видео.html 2:38 i wasnt sure how true they were at the time, didnt think about doing it to a platform though. but sadly for gren we arent getting much for the technicality of it. its still better to hit 1 frame of uair dd to extend or tech chase with nair. after using nair to get them to a platform
I always used to do first hit forward air wit zero suit a few years ago cause it was easy for me to confirm into boost kick. But now I can never land it for the life of me.
