The line "Your gods can't hear you" hits all the harder in a fantasy setting where we're literally getting on a first name basis with those gods in *the same patches.*
It hits pretty hard even limiting it to its own raid story, given the implications of one of the Ancients, Athena, wanting to *become* a God.
Lol its funny because Hegenmone and Agdists don't realize we're not trapped in a room with them, they're trapped in a room with us.
@peoplewhoplaygames You say that, but the way the chorus changes tells me they might have realized it.
> Or scream all you like, your gods can't hear you...
> Or scream all you like, the gods can't hear you...
> I'll scream all I like, 'cause we're all mad here...
> So scream all you like, no one can hear us...
> So scream if you like, 'cause we're all mad here. Scream all you like, 'cause we're all mad here.
Also, the line "Buried alive // In the coffin of who I used to be"
Of course our gods can't hear us. We're fighting them in the Alliance Raid.
All jokes aside, yeah it hits hard that we are trap here fighting these former ascians, only relying on each other to do what needs to be done.
Guys it's pretty clear it's not about us. Like most boss themes, it's about them. They're locked in a mental prison due to the circumstances of the raid. Stop interpreting the lyrics as if you're the one suffering. It is they who suffer.
"Buried alive in the coffin of who I used to be" is such a raw ass line goddamn
It screwed me up because that's the exact line I wrote for one of my 20+ year old dungeons and dragons gods that has close connections to plants. Granted, I know it's not a novel concept, but hearing it was a little wild in the moment.
This song is comprised mostly of raw as fuck lines and I love it. But that line has to be the best.
Yea this line hit me so much with my personal stuff :/
As a trans woman, yeah... That lyric as well as "Say goodnight, to the shadow I left far behind" hit really hard. I love this song.
@@Snowfire6916 SAMMEEE
One thing worth pointing out is that this song was made by Takafumi Imamura, one of the composers working under Soken. That's probably why the community got the lyrics so right this time around. Compare it with the P4 theme or even the second phase of P8S and you'll see what I mean. Soken almost seems to treat the vocals as another instrument. There also tends to be some sort of effect layered on top of it, making them hard to decipher. In Scream, though, the vocals are front and center, clear as day.
Part of it too is Hic Svnt Leones is Soken and Koji singing, and Soken always heavily filters their voices because as they both are the first to point out, they arent professional singers.
What people seem to forget is that vocals ARE another instrument. A lot of songwriters almost seem to try to shove vocals into songs instead of trying to make them work in harmony.
@@witch_bird_jmh That makes a lot of sense, actually.
@@ttosaj Someone pointing out that Metal music uses vocals as a percussive/textural instrument made me appreciate Metal in a new light.
@@ericbright1742 One of the greatest examples of that is Archspire. The singer is so fast and guttural while simultaneously keeping pace with the drummer (who drums so fast it would be easy to assume it's a drum machine) like a human metronome.
ruclips.net/video/1lsnTQyGI78/видео.html
The lyrics felt like it came from the early 2000s. I love it.
its giving evanescence
@Jerome651 exactly, the crazier part to me this is pretty much like someone back then being inspired by the 80s/70s.
@@jerome6519 perfectly described.
YES!!!!! This reminded me of my middle school years so much XD
@@jerome6519 abput to say the same! This theme screams evanescence real hard 🥺
"Scream all you like, your gods can't hear you."
"Of course they can't, *i killed them all."*
Also WoL: "You are next on *my* chopping block."
"You got a license for that Godhood, miss?"
WoL: *nods enthusiastically*
The universe seems to just keep creating Gods for me to kill.
Not in the World Unsundered. Neither of the two even exist yet.
Just came back from Fanfest and Koji Fox singing Scream during the Primals concert was so hype lmao, Literally the whole crowd screamed during 1:00
Dude, yes. He was so hype. I love how after this and White Stone Black he was like "THAT WAS SO FING AWESOME" because yeah, it hecking was.
Wish I could have been there to hear it.
"Pseudo Suicide, dont choke on your pride" is such a raw ass line, I love it.
Had my Grandfather listen to this, hes big into metal. He thought I was lying when i told him it was from an MMORPG, until I went into the Raid while I was staying with him. His jaw dropped.
Can we expect him to join in with you on the next raid when it releases?
@@caosisaac I would not be shocked, my raid leader once was a lady old enough to be a grandma. not old enough to be MY grandma, but a grandma at least.
(you'd probably need to be at LEAST mid 80s to be my grandma. my grandparents were all getting close to 90 when they passed away)
@@zeehero7280 Back in Vanilla WoW and the first expansion...our raids best healer was a 73 year old man. I hadn't talked to many of those people for 10+years when the old man died and half the old guild showed up to his funeral.
There's parents who see video games as the root of all evil... and then there is the chad part of mmo communities that brings together ppl of all ages. Some of my best friends online could legitimately be my parents... tho they're mostly younger than my actual parents cuz those had me rather late. Still. You have to be part of smth to truly understand it. Unfortunately my parents never had an interest in understanding why I like certain things and only blame everything I loved for the mental health problems they themselves caused... yeah and now someone is surprised I rarely talk to them more than the bare minimum. Oh the same side of the family that had a 10y feud with their parents when I was a kid. Not that I don't understand it cuz certain grandparents tried to keep me breaking my arm a secret until the doctor tackled that by saying you're calling the parents and the child is not leaving... but like, video games where definitely not the most messed up thing in my childhood tyvm. I also didn't even start playing until I was 18 cuz I wasn't allowed.
Sometimes I really wish I had a functioning family. Y'know, just being able to talk to them about hobbies without judgement would be nice.
Didn't happen.
You have to love how FF14 never never fails to have the best music of any MMO by far.
Heck not just MMOs, FFXIV has one of the best game soundtracks period.
King Conan would like to know your location
It's the best MMO overall and has set the bar from what Everquest; followed by WoW did.
Final Fantasy’s brand is excellent storytelling and fantastic scene-setting music.
King Conan can _have_ it. We have the Bard of Light.
'pseudo-suicide, don't choke on your pride' goes HARD
I love the evolution from "Scream all you like, your gods can't hear you" to "I'll scream all I like, 'cause we're all mad here." Nobody can hear them, and that makes them scream all the louder for rescue. It plays on a similar idea to the lyrics of Answers, in which Hydaelyn is petitioned for answers ("How can we carry on when redemption's beyond us?") and offers words that just prompt more desperate questions ("Hear what, feel what?"). In Pandaemonium, there are no gods to save us, which makes the act of screaming a mad endeavor... and yet we must scream for some solace or prayer for escape.
1 year later and this is still my favorite raid song. It just goes SO HARD
I think it's the best raid song they ever made. It's just too good.
@@Kenshin6321 facts
The "rescue me, rescue me" is haunting. Beneath all the bluster and grandstanding of the lyrics, that tiny bit of them still left is really just begging for us to save them. While their anger and anguish at their misfortune is the main part of the song, the front, misguidedly trying to spread their misery to the players. Wanting for us to be the lions. Monsters. Like them.
Ah I probably misinterpreted that line. I felt like the beginning was a "welcome to the situation" and following "where do I go from here, be the lion" was a call to challenge them and in the end, rescue them. But my mind was on lion-hearted. Not as in lions are monsters.
Confronted with 2 choices, fall into pandemonium or overcome it.
I like how a lot of people are reminded of Evanescence from this song. (I even had a guy named Evan Essence in a fight against "Evil Dead tree" lol)
Yep a bloke at work didn't know it was from ff and asked if it was evanescence, I must say I'm embarrassed to say I had to check my phone, don't always have the sound on when playing.
look up Ff14 pandemonium evanescence Mashup, amazing job
Very much so. I fucking love it!! Haha. My favorite song so far. It's so good
Sounds like a mixture of Tatu and Evanescence but heavier.
This song could also easily pass as a Persona song imo
@@HonkHill-ev4hk Always sounded much more like Lacuna Coil than Evanessence to me, not gonna lie.
I still can't believe this is a FFXIV song.
I appreciate how the last raid's final song had the line "Here be lions, follow me..." as well, and this song takes it further and implores the lamb to "be the lion"
Dude that slick editing in the intro really caught my eye. Especially when the camera zooms in on the WoL and back out and you're in a different arena.
Thank you! I thought no one noticed 😭
Can I just say that the video edit of it is *banging*? The way you matched the visuals to the beats and lyrics and mixed the two encounters was just a joy to watch. Thats why I always come back to your videos!
"Scream all you like, your gods can't hear you" hits so hard.
All you have is your friends, and yourself, against these monstrosities of what was once people.
I just love that line for a villain song and may be borrowign it for a BBEG the next time I DM a game of D&D.
@@Lrbearclaw Oh I am DEFINITELY stealing that line for the villain in my campaign. It's such a great line, and so metal too.
Scary part is that the 7 others who join you aern't your friends they are just shades created from your shattered soul. So really the fact of this fight breaks down to your own will power made true.
@@loomingdeath1758 which mean WoL is a terrifying force.
@@crowdemon_archives I mean....your not wrong. We have topple giants, fell empires, challenge the impossible, and even brought life that once was dead. (even for if for a short time) Its not far fetch to say that the WOL was once a simple face in the crowd that neither was special nor stood out. Yet over time we began to shine :o we are literally a force of fucking nature at this point.
I want to make mention of Chad's choice of font: it goes perfectly with Pandæmonium's aesthetics and themes. A nice little touch of artistry there.
What font IS that?
@@cadencepierce6347 no clue.
“Any tips for this raid” “Yeah, turn it up”
This track could literally be released as a single of its own, and fit in with like 2000s rock. If I didn't know any better, people could tell me it's an old school song and I'd fall for it.
I've been playing through this game for the first time since February of this year, found this channel with the Alexander tracks back when I hit those raids and I've gotta say, the editing now is phenomenal. Huge step up over just putting the lyrics over unedited footage of a run of the related boss!
Thank you!
I would like to remind everyone that this song is sung by the same woman who would go on to sing Smile for Dawntrail.
😮
The most confusing part about all of it honestly.
@@Feraligatrfjhgujvgh Not surprising many singers are trained to sing multiple genres. In Japan it is common that singers are trained on Ballad songs on top of things like Rock and Pop as it trains their voices to deal with different scales. The issue with Smile is that it was designed as a musical something Soken admitted he has little to no experience with prior to the request (aka he did his research, Smile definitely something you hear in a musical). Musicals are somewhat similar to ballad songs but emphasize slightly different goals (musical have to be bombastic and loud because well you are presenting on a stage) vs most ballad songs. The singer is a talented signer but I think the genre didn't suit her and the decision should be been to change or sound mix more.
The issue with Smile wasn't the singer, it was the song being ridiculously out of place.
S9 theme is an arrangement of Smile and it's very great for the area, drilling it more into the fact that the problem is not the song but how they use it.
The main song "Smile" is just out of place and failed to capture the moment.
By popular demand, here's Scream with the official lyrics along with the full EP track! SE was awesome to release early the song, lyrics and permission to use them all in the same day 😊

Thats one hell of a toilet trip
Flushing the stool out, letting the brown run down, say a prayer as the light leaves your eyes
Or push all you like, your gods can't hear you
Wow the community actually got most of them right, that's super cool!
Still not sure how so many people were hearing "Thou shalt" for the first lime, especially since the entire rest of the song uses "you/your"
@@OmegaMapDesign to be fair, Even after knowing that it’s “Foul Child” it really does sound like “Thou Shalt”
The way the chorus changes from "Your gods" to "the gods" to "no one" to "Were all mad here" really spells out the descent that the two of them experienced reaching that point.
The "Hegemone x Agdistis" in the title makes it sound like this song is the result of a collaboration between those two and I am totally into that thought.
I ship it
I'm so glad the official lyrics are out now! Thank you!
Still listening to this song gives me shivers, legit one of the best OST that Soken made goddamn
“Scream all you like, your gods can’t hear you.”
To borrow a comment from elsewhere; raw as FUCK.
I love how the song takes us from fearing for our life, like if we were living a nightmare, to the aftermath where we mentally can't escape the nightmare we lived and how it will forever haunt us
"Scream all you like, your gods can't hear you" fits well when i fail the need roll on the music roll
This song goes so much harder than what was needed. Been stuck on my orchestrion for ages now.
Cannot get enough of this song and amazing knowing the official lyrics! FFXIV never disappoints!
1:30 for the entirety of raiding this tier I heard and sang "DONT CHOKE ON YOUR COOOCK"
Marilyn Manson: "What? Why not?"
I like how you synched game footage with "Follow me (Come follow me)" part to mirror how it was synched in 6.2 trailer.
To think a piece of Akino will always be with FF now, what a time!!
This music is what got me through this god forsaken trial in pubs when it was new. After 20 or 30 or so runs of the same group, we pulled through. Dang, good times. Hats off to the people I played with.
Shout out to the dude who typed in /shout chat after he died "SCREAM ALL YOUD LIKE CAUSE WERE ALL MAD HERE IM MAD YOURE MAD WE ALL MAD IM MAD FRICK THIS TREE BUT THIS SONG SLAPS IM MADADADA" or something like that.
When your 2 minute buff window lines up with the "SAY GOOD NIGHT" portion of this song right after the drop on p7s right before enumeration it feels SOOO good.
I really like the way you edited this to fuse the two fights together. It looks super professional
The one lesson i think everyone should remember from this is: "It's never wild child."
Except when it is. It’s like lupus.
0:44 The TRANSITION! Fantastic Editing!
There's that magical concoction of good chaotic boss encounters and banging music again. Had these trials yesterday for the first time and its speaks volumes, if youre more and more hooked after each wipe against that nightmare tree
3:44 I love how they just come in like they're about the drop the most fire album of 2022/23 and then flat out do.
I lowkey love how violent the Pandemonium songs are
I _high key_ love how violent the Pandæmonium songs are
Can't wait for 6.4
I don't play FFXIV (hit a point where I can't get into many games like I used to), but gods do I love the music in this game! A lot of the tracks in Endwalker and the patches after it are songs I really want to listen to outside of youtube.
thematically the lyrics make a whole lot of sense in relation to abyssos and the entire plot of pandemoneum. Spoilers to pandemoneum's second tier raid:
So here's just my convoluted analysis of the lyrics, but I can only assume that this song scream is in the perspective of Athena even after her death, and the disturbing concepts she hoped to realise into reality. the lost lamb could either Lahabrea himself before their soul union, the victims of Pandemonium or their son. Though, I personally like to think its Lahabrea, which is why I I feel like the song is about the tarnishing of innocent ideals in favour of Athena's terrifying ideals that was slowly plaguing Lahabrea.
"Say goodnight; with each bite as your sanity dies" is verily referring to the terrifying ideas slowly consuming Lahabrea before he decidedly cut parts of himself from any emotional ties to Athena. I could almost say this song is a mockery to the slow death of the innocent ideals as the more morally depraved possibilities slowly consume the mind of an idealist.
That's just a small sample of ideas that's been tossing in my head as soon as I saw the official release of the lyrics.
Huh. I thought that cutting part of himself was partly dictated from emotions of Lahabrea, as he seemed hurt by Athena's actions, even if he shown it only just for a moment. (He seemed to care about her and as if he was feeling betrayed?)
So maybe it also might allude to emotional part of lahabrea being corrupted by the seed and all. Like how he slowly looses himself in the dark depths of pandaemonium, slowly turning in what Athena wanted from him more or less
@@zenixvampirchik652 I mean, this was sort of a comment I dropped spontaneously when I read the lyrics properly for the first time without revisiting the 2nd tier quest. so, yeah, good points to bring up. I must admit a few details escaped my memory while writing that first comment.
Eh, I don't see it as being about Athena or Lahabrea, but about the Keywards and how they were tortured and mutated by Hephaistos. The song just being their laments and anger as they fight you in their warped, mutated bodies ("Buried alive in the coffin of who I used to be")
FOUL child??? This is Wild shrieks all over again holy shit.
Thank you for correcting the communities poor ears.
I always thought it was "fel child" myself, but yeah.
When the singer says, "Say goodnight" you can hear the faint scream of the lyric in the background. You can barely hear it but it feels like a great artistic choice
I gotta say I love the editing and the transition at "say goodnight" was clean af
Ever since I saw it, I can't stop hearing "with each wipe does your sanity die!"
A few other people have already called out the editing but that transition at 0:58 is super slick! I've never seen a BLM look so powerful, like they charged up so hard you all traveled forward in time, haha!
Thanks for the upload! 6th circle my favorite raid atm :)
Best commend from the Bee My Honey lyrics video:
Endwalker: "SCREAM ALL YOU LIKE, YOUR GODS CAN'T HEAR YOU!"
Dawntrail: "Hehehe, bees!"
Great song, and a great vid you stitched together for it!
As a friend put it, this is "The best song Evanescence never wrote." Do with that what you will ^_^
I absolutely adore the footage and editing in this
Maaan. Hegemone, T-posed us TWICE in 5 seconds. That's some hardcore dominance she's asserting
I just... can't. Stop. Listening. To. This. Song. It's so good Holy fuck. The music in this game just keeps getting better and better. Every time I'm like NO WAY THEY'LL TOP THIS ONE-- OH SHIT THEY DID. Love this song so much
I like how the singer's stance shifts over the song. The first part of the song is malicious, taunting and cruel. By the end however, the tone has shifted. It's almost welcoming and understanding in a "Everyone here is suffering, so you are in good company" way. The last "scream all you like" almost sounds like genuine invitation to blow off some steam.
I loved this tier and the two fight because of this song especially P7S. best part of the song is that some how when the 2min burst window was about to hit was always on the chorus and hearing that Say Good night and seeing the big dmg number on screen was such a rush
Brain: Are you going to sleep? Me: Yes I am. Now shut up. Brain: SAY--GOOD--NIGHHHHHHHHHHHT!!!!!
I've had this song as the theme in my estate for I don't know HOW long. I never tired of it.
I so hope they do this at this year's Fan Fest, hearing this live could be amazing
The mad lads actually did it! Koji sang it pitched down and he honestly sounded fantastic
IT WAS SO PEAK I'M SO HAPPY
Every time I play these my head is banging to this music. Awesome.
Such a killer song with so much meaning.
I love the irony that despite the cruelty, the pride, the relishing in violence and madness in the lyrics there is still a quiet, small voice inside still crying, "help me... save me."
I.. don't think that's irony? It's implying that, like the line "Buried in the coffin of who I used to be" the real them is trapped inside.
The best Raid music ever... its epic!
I can't wait to see the Primals play this at fan fest
This has to be the catchiest Song on the entire FFXIV OST
By far my favorite ffXIV song
Triumph for me is the catchiest. This one has a slow build-up. Twinning is another one that is catchy.
@@martinandersen7735 That's a weird way to spell "Who Brings Shadow" (Lol)
Agdistis form of a tree hits MUCH harder if you are into Shin Megami Tensei and know of the lore of Cybele and her son Attis. And Cybeles "characteristics" with family jewels.
Her double tree slam leading into the punches is called Seeds of Attis! Bruh!
FF14 dev them knows theyre Greecian lore!
I was thinking, "Hmm, I wonder if there are any official lyric videos for this song, or if it's speculations of what the lysics are," only to find this had been out for less than half a day.
"Forever Falling into my mind..." this line makes me feel like im tearing up when thinking about the Pandaemoniums story, Especially Agdistis' story...
its so fucking sad actually. no wonder everyone loves this song holy shit...
Hot damn, talk about journalism. Brotha, I'm glad you caught those talking points. We now know a piece of the puzzle until some of them try to backstab each other. Inevitable!
I have to say I am a huge, huge, HUGE frickin fan of Alice in Wonderland and I LOVE all of the references this song has to it. Probably my favorite book of all time. Combining Alice in Wonderland with head banging rock? Genius. So glad I don't do any raiding or I'd be useless during these fights lol I'd just stand and jam and let everyone die over and over just so the music keeps playing lol
Ditto. Came to comment about Alice in Wonderland, but wanted to check comments first. Absolutely love this rock opera.
I've never read the original AiW. Could you let me know one or two of the more interesting references you noticed?
@@SmoothAsFelt My guess is the phrase "We're all mad here". But I didn't read the book, I just know the quote
Thank you for this!!! I love your videos! Time to jam out and learn the ACTUAL correct lyrics! (Which as a child I spelt it how it sounded, so ‘lyriks’) fun fact! I love how you get these out so quickly!
Gods I love the endwalker ost. Every song is a real banger.
When I hear P5s silent scream version i already said it was my favorite song in the raids so far.
BOY I HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS COMING
How come they never added this song to Spotify yet... THIS SONG SLAPS ❤
Even after the release of P12, I still find myself coming back to this one. I didn't realize I had such nostalgia for Karmacode-era Lacuna Coil, but here we are. After the borefest that was P1-4's music, this proved that Pandaemonium could absolutely bang, and I'd give good money for a Mogstation Tree or Proto-Carbuncle mount that plays this.
What I also love how all the motifs like Ancient Shackles and Scream have reprises or dark reprises in P12. P9-10 had some but it was echoey and muffled since you can hear Athena (since you meet her) but not close enough to see her insanity up close and personal.
In P12 she adds lyrics to Ancient Shackles and in Scream ("You were never truly alive") it shows how much she doesn't give a fuck about anyone else outside of her goal of godhood. Also how Hic Svct Leones is definitely a warning of the Lion, but it isn't Herperos or the monstrosities of Pandemonium, but Athena.
The orchestrion roll for this song dropped the first time I did this fight... and I instantly got it. What a day. Its still worth 200.000 Gil, but this song is to good to be sold...
Can't get enough of this song. I was not disappointed when Abyssos was released, and hearing this for P6 and P7 made those fights really hard because all I want to do is jam out to the song. So glad I got the Orchestrion my first go around with P6.
Makes me wonder what P9-12 are going to offer, given the track record of Endwalker and it's BOPs. Soken's just showing off at this point. 😆
This track is a masterpiece not only does it flow well it is just that perfect pitch and those lyrics are fire
If I had a nickel for every time I ended up punching a different tree that's a raid boss in this game, I'd have three entire nickels.
Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened thrice, you know?
(Sephirot: is a tree. (Neo) Exdeath, is a tree. Now Agdistis, a third tree.)
Would gaia also not be a tree, and the one in the Titania trial, I think there's a tree boss in void ark.
OMG for the last 8 months ive heard "Sucking the life out, letting the dark" as "Live in a lighthouse, petting the dog."
That makes much more sense... 2:25
Amazing work and transitions with musice are incredible

Thank you!
Sounds like early Evanescence before Amy Lee was trading away band members like they were YuGiOh cards.
😂😂😂
My wife and I would both love if evanescence made a cover of this song
I never was so excited before to get into those raid wings every week
Was trying to figure out why this song had the bit of re-listenability that some of the other FXIV songs dont have (not that they arent good but I often go out of my way to listen to this one.) and it hit me. As long time player of the first person shooter, this song is very reminiscent of the old CoD Zombies easter eggs
Pretty sure I would turn into a hemitheos too if Athena started playing this banger
The Father approves of this video.
Okay so I have heard this song over 100 times now. Pretty sure the last say goodnight is actually say goodbye to the shadow I left far behind. Sounds like goodbye plus it makes more sense
This is the best song that Evanessence never wrote.
this soundtracks gives me shivers. It is so gooood!! first time I heard it I had to turn up the volume and enjoyed the fight, died a few times but I got the hang of it.
FF14's music is so lit, it's incredible that it's actually for a game.. in fact, many of these tracks of released to general audience, would easily top the charts.
0:28 Welcome to Final Biohazard, hope you enjoy fighting the abomination that looks like it came from an Umbrella Research Lab. Oh and I hope you like eyes, there'll be more later on.
These edits were amazing! Thank you
Reading the last few lines and I only just realised how it mentions “we’re all mad here” and “wonderland” and “going down deeper and deeper” and realised that there’s a slight Alice in Wonderland theme going on, which I absolutely love
