Unfortunately yes. I have the Bolt 2 as well. I tend to use the Elemnt for off road as the larger screen and Black/white mapping is really clear to follow.
I'm gonna call it out now: The way the "Ready to Ride" screen looks, seems to me that Wahoo is getting ready to release a touch screen Bolt V3 (late spring) and later a Roam V3 (Late 2025). Good size buttons right there.
How about adding settings to turn that godawful screech off. I unchecked all boxed and it still screeches at power off, lap button press, track reversal and select route from app.
Still waiting for "hours of daylight left"/"hours to sunset" field for the Elemnt Roam --- you'd think a long-distance/travel/bikepacking oriented GPS would have it, and it's a simple function of GPS position.
Thanks for the heads up as usual! I was hoping for the choose a bike option. Road, gravel, MTB, Fat, and Kicker. So we can have custom screens for different bikes and have the correct bike automatically selected in Strava. I would love to have the map with pwr + speed for my bikes with a power meter and hr + speed for the bikes without a power meter.

So happy that I got the Roam 2 at around its release and getting all these cool features to boot after acquiring it. One minor gripe is that it sometimes takes a bit for the di2 to boot up and connect, so you can't easily check battery levels before setting off, perhaps they can give you a last known battery status upon boot to go along with giving it an element field if you wanted it.
When I saw this video, I thought meh, I hope I can toggle off that new screen, but used it today and really liked it. Especially after the ride where it is easy to see what all of your batteries have left.
I have had a roam v2 for a year. If I get it to plan a route to any chosen point it takes me through some pretty impassable footpaths. Not good on a wet autumn day in England. Wahoo should allow me to choose a road or navigable cycle path option. Hopefully Wahoo read your comments.
This just prompted me to check my Wahoo, i was sure when they introduced the "Take Me to" feature you could choose whether you wanted Road, Touring, MTB etc. Unless I'm imagining it i used it once to switch to a fast road ride home when i was late to take one of the kids to a party. It's odd because it's not in the route planning function on the App, but if you go to the Route screen on the head unit you get scroll down to Surface and pick a type. so maybe routing through the head unit is smarter than using the app (on a quick look there's definitely a difference when using Cross and Road options)
Absolutely . I have a Roam from when they 1st came out and my wife got a Roam this year (also V1) and the speed differences between these two "same" units is drastic. On hers she can download & install an update and reboot faster than mine can just download the update. V2 must be on another level in all regards. I love my unit and wont even take the wife up on her offer to trade. I'd love a V2, but *no way * will i until mine actually dies. Not an upgrade chaser... Cheers!

Thanks again At first, these updates did not show up, but after tonight‘s ride, the updates date appear on both and I was able to install them I like the new menu on the Wahoo.
Still waiting since years for an update to have POIs on the route. And German menus and shutdown messages without spelling mistakes that are there since the boltv1. incredible.
Still no bike profiles huh. That’s the one thing I miss from Garmin. I have 2 bikes and sometimes both ride at the same time when I lend to my uncle so I have to unlink bikeB sensors to not have a data party
Wahoo saw fit to change the menu on the old Elemnt, too, which I discovered on a longer ride on Saturday that went into the dark. Normally I'd hit the power button once to go into settings, and hit the middle button to change the backlight option. Now? Power button to go into settings, middle button to go into another layer of Settings, then down button to get to backlight. Of course, the backlight doesn't turn on while doing this, so if you're doing this in the dark, it's a pain in the ass. And for what benefit? To have an extra layer of settings, just so this layer can have two options in it, LEDs and Backlight? Whoever thought up this UI change should be smacked.
thanks for update; have to say the Wahoo Elemnt v2 is just a brilliant device, the summit feature has changed the way I ride pacing up a climb wise. Is it also giving an ETA on when you reach the summit, on summit page? I couldn't believe that ... but appears so. sadly the hammerhead sits in my draw like shark fin soup, its days are over.
Shane, thanks for that. Wanna laugh? When I first switched from Garmin to Wahoo, I heard you could write to them about suggestions, improvements, etc and they'd listen. I soon learned no way- how do I know? Did you notice on the Roam 2 It says BATT % 46%, it also says PHONE % 98% - why would they put the % symbol in the title and the number??? stupid looking. If you look at all other data fields it says like MPH then the number (it doesn't say MPH 18mph) or MILES then the number, doesn't say MILES 22.3mi)- they messed that one up- I said just get rid of the % sign in the the titles. just ignored. nice vid man!!
Thanks for the video! I just got a Roam V2 & like it very much. The only slight complaint is actually with the ELEMNT Phone app I use it on Android & while the data collected from ride is good using the graphs/charts on app is tough due to the cursor being pretty unresponsive except for small movements. You can't just grab it & slide it from left to right etc. Perhaps a fix is coming?
Running bolt v1 since 2017, the amout of updating without any new stuff happening leaves me wondering if They just Update the versionnumber to the current v2 software😂😂 But still rocking it and it just delivers. Waiting for the the bolt 3..
I just got the update on my bolt v1 and they have changed some things on the setting screen. The backlight/led controls have been moved to their own submenu, which feels a bit pointless. And they added a link to the routes select and a gps fix indicator at the top. Also didn't get a maps update for the UK.

I’m confused… I’ve upgraded ELEMNT Roam v2 to latest firmware, I can see Di2 with battery in Sensors but I can’.t see the Di2 battery as a data field to add to a menu as is shown on the video.

At 3:06, there is mention of the "Shifter Battery not showing anything". I'm having this issue on my Elemnt Bolt V2 as well. Is there a reason the SHFTR BATT shows as n/a? Anybody know how to configure it to show or is it not supported yet?
What FW version is this? I fired up my Bolt V2 and it doesn't show any updates. Still on WA49-16335 (Oct 19, 2023). The Wahoo website still lists this as the latest version. Are you getting some sort of special RUclipsr early release or something?
I thought the maps were annoying. I just wanted to see my route.. so I deleted the maps :-) I don't use my Bolt to plan routes anyways (it probably even can't)
I am a v1 kickr bike owner and got an email from Wahoo today announcing that race mode/wifi pairing was coming to the kickr bike, all I need to do is a firmware update. This sounds too good to be true, especially with no news reports on this major upgrade for legacy users from you, DC rainmaker etc. Have you heard anything about this?
Where is the battery display for sram? Under sensors, it just says “gear selection” and it says “good” for battery. Thats not helpful in the least! What am I missing? Does it not display a percentage for sram?
Why are the graphics on your screen of both the computers so vibrant. Or dit you touch up the graphics. Because on my Roam V2 the colors are more pastel
About to look at this video, as in the market for a Bolt or Roam V2, but since this latest update, the Bolt & Roam V1's 'Grade' has died and reports inaccurate elevation gain. There is an internal ticket raised by Wahoo to fix it, but not ready yet. Really happy with the Bolt V1, but is it worth going to Roam V2 vs Bolt V2 ?
After updating my Roam v2, im experiencing slow gps, even if I start my Roam from home, it starts recording my ride after 2 km and the gps data is off for another 1 km. Anyone having the same issue ? Have the Bolt 2 also, and ill try that on sunday !
I don't understand the obsession with groupset battery level. The lever the battery last 2 years, replace every year and you never have to worry about it. Groupset? Rechargewhen you get notified of low battery from your head unit. You can still ride a 300km ride with tons of shifting when you get that notification.
Update the Elemnt mobile app too. (There is a possibility this is a beta only feature. This release has been a little messy in terms of what's beta/public/testing/etc).
Interesting to note that this to my knowledge marks the first time Wahoo deliberately leaves older units (ELEMNT, BOLT and ROAM v1) in the cold for new features that aren't dependent on hardware features (screen, memory etc).
I really hope they're working on a total generation leap for hardware and software. The Elemnt line-up feels like it has reached an early sunset stage. I was impressed they squeezed Summit free ride into the V2 units . The Edge x40 range from Garmin (plus their ConnectIQ extensibility) is really pulling away from the competition. Hammerhead/SRAM are also in desperate need of a catch-up device to remain competitive.
Second time... 1st was the upcoming climbs. On the legacy Roam it only works on routes. New ones it works on routes and not. I'm happy they included it at all for the older units... although I'd be even happier if it actually worked. Lol. Most of the time on my old Roam, if the feature pops up at all it *never* knows where the summit is.
@@gplamathe only Garmin feature I’m jealous of with my bolt 2 is solar charging. It’s probably the only thing that would make me think about buying another device.
I did the update and since I’ve not had elevation or gradient readings. Strava adjustments turned my Audax Struck Gold ride into 1910m gained, but the Bolt V1 had zero when I got to rendezvous. I restarted it and in the ride recovery process it assigned 24m to it and there it remained. Anyone else have any issues? Google searches return nothing on this.
On the two 75-80km rides this weekend, since the update on the Roam ver. 1, I have had no live metres ascended or gradient on the Elevation screen. Strava upload today has elevation of 816m which is about right (783 on my watch and 795 on planned route. )
Struck Gold was great. Chilly start was offset by the clouds parting right on 0800 and setting off with a massive tailwind made it a quick run to Clunes. Alas the wind stayed up so 35-40 kmh outbound was 20-22 in the return leg. 😄 A few of us took it steady to assist a group of about 8 or 9 back towards Broomfield & then the Forest gave us shelter. The hills at the end ruptured any cohesion but I waited at the top of the climbs and chased the big guy down the descent on Port Phillip Rd, picking up a PR and overshooting the final turn back to Hammond Park (might have gone through the give way sign at 75kmh - a calculated risky manoeuvre that was worth losing two places in the rankings to pull off). 🤡

Wahoo - was good while it lasted. Too little too late unfortunately - for me. I hope they survive and the updates help. (I was one who asked repeatedly for the Di2 status to be more visible.) I went to Wahoo back when Garmin was on the struggle bus. Now the tables have turned. After too many issues with Wahoo updates hanging/crashing/rebooting taking half hour before every ride to get sensors on-line, repeating and it not able to pick up signal from their own HRM straps, I'm on Garmin again and will probably never go back. (I also quit X/Systm/whatever it was called and joined Zwift because I can upload my own TP workouts.) And though I was a fervent Speedplay fan, they took too long to release a way too expensive power meter pedal - so now I'm on Favero and probably won't go to a four bolt cleat again either!
Some very hard truths there for Wahoo. The Edge x40 range is quite the leap forward ahead of the competition. A lot of the features we're seeing hit the Elemnt are still playing catch-up.

It’s still under investigation but we are concerned that our Wahoo head unit might have started on fire in our parked car and burned a good part of our car up. Have others heard of Wahoo head units starting on fire? It was not plugged in. We really like the unit but, if it did start that fire, it could have burned a house down or an airplane which is concerning.
This update is complete rubbish! Before the summit update it worked as it should. Then after the summit update, once it decided you were climbing (going up hill, once or twice going down hill) a summit screen came on with a beep. I then had a load of rubbish on the screen that I never wanted, needed or used and had to waste time in getting the info screen I did want. There was never an option to turn the summit off. This last update gave me an option to turn the summit screen off but changed my normal screen to the rubbish Start Ride screen which I do not want, need or use. This update also, in about 18 hours of being turned off, the battery went down 13%. When I turned the Strava Segments off (which was never connected to anything) the battery stayed at 100%. But once it had been on for about 1-4 minutes, the battery went down 6%. Wahoo said there is an option to turn off the start ride screen in the app. I turned on the phone and GPS and the battery (just for looking in the menus on the app for about 10 minutes went from 100% to 88%. I still can't find the option to turn it off. Wahoo have completely messed this up!

Yeah, that's a request I've long had with them. IIRC it'll mark the ride as eBike if it's paired to an ebike sensor... I think.

My V1 needs to update but every time I do so it ends in an “error.” Frustrating because I love the simplicity of it.
I would love to see Wahoo release an updated version of the Bolt V1. Something with the monochromatic display but more memory

Yes! I was there mid last year (i think it was). They had a virtual reality MTB setup that was next-level amazing to ride in store.

Yes, for older generation Di2. New 12spd Di2 (7100/8100/9200) have BLE/ANT built-in.

I thought the maps were annoying. I just wanted to see my route.. so I deleted the maps :-) I don't use my Bolt to plan routes anyways (it probably even can't)

When paired to a HR sensor you can display HR on the Bolt as a data field.

I am a v1 kickr bike owner and got an email from Wahoo today announcing that race mode/wifi pairing was coming to the kickr bike, all I need to do is a firmware update. This sounds too good to be true, especially with no news reports on this major upgrade for legacy users from you, DC rainmaker etc. Have you heard anything about this?
Race Mode is only on the Kickr Bike V2. They really didn’t word their email very well.

Where is the battery display for sram? Under sensors, it just says “gear selection” and it says “good” for battery. Thats not helpful in the least! What am I missing? Does it not display a percentage for sram?
Why are the graphics on your screen of both the computers so vibrant. Or dit you touch up the graphics. Because on my Roam V2 the colors are more pastel
I use the screen recording function on these units and import that into my videos. The screens are a little less vibrant on the devices.

About to look at this video, as in the market for a Bolt or Roam V2, but since this latest update, the Bolt & Roam V1's 'Grade' has died and reports inaccurate elevation gain. There is an internal ticket raised by Wahoo to fix it, but not ready yet.
Really happy with the Bolt V1, but is it worth going to Roam V2 vs Bolt V2 ?

After updating my Roam v2, im experiencing slow gps, even if I start my Roam from home, it starts recording my ride after 2 km and the gps data is off for another 1 km. Anyone having the same issue ? Have the Bolt 2 also, and ill try that on sunday !
is it possible to have two roam units and both controllable via the same mobile phone. ie dedicated units per bike ?

I don't understand the obsession with groupset battery level. The lever the battery last 2 years, replace every year and you never have to worry about it. Groupset? Rechargewhen you get notified of low battery from your head unit. You can still ride a 300km ride with tons of shifting when you get that notification.
Wahoo clearly agree with you on this one. It’s now there just to stop some of us asking for it. 😉

Update the Elemnt mobile app too. (There is a possibility this is a beta only feature. This release has been a little messy in terms of what's beta/public/testing/etc).

After some more updates the battery option showed up.
Interesting to note that this to my knowledge marks the first time Wahoo deliberately leaves older units (ELEMNT, BOLT and ROAM v1) in the cold for new features that aren't dependent on hardware features (screen, memory etc).
I really hope they're working on a total generation leap for hardware and software. The Elemnt line-up feels like it has reached an early sunset stage. I was impressed they squeezed Summit free ride into the V2 units . The Edge x40 range from Garmin (plus their ConnectIQ extensibility) is really pulling away from the competition. Hammerhead/SRAM are also in desperate need of a catch-up device to remain competitive.
Second time... 1st was the upcoming climbs. On the legacy Roam it only works on routes. New ones it works on routes and not. I'm happy they included it at all for the older units... although I'd be even happier if it actually worked. Lol. Most of the time on my old Roam, if the feature pops up at all it *never* knows where the summit is.
@fatbikejamie That feature is restricted to units that have the storage to include elevation data.

@@gplamathe only Garmin feature I’m jealous of with my bolt 2 is solar charging. It’s probably the only thing that would make me think about buying another device.
Maybe next time show what the screens looked like before the update? I find myself getting disoriented when changes like these happen.
Any previous review will have the older screens. There as no real 'before' on this as they'd just boot up to the first ride page.

It’s a toggle switch in the Elemnt app. Super simple.

I did the update and since I’ve not had elevation or gradient readings. Strava adjustments turned my Audax Struck Gold ride into 1910m gained, but the Bolt V1 had zero when I got to rendezvous. I restarted it and in the ride recovery process it assigned 24m to it and there it remained.
Anyone else have any issues? Google searches return nothing on this.
Interesting. Side question - How was struck gold? I was planning on doing it but we took off elsewhere for the long weekend.
On the two 75-80km rides this weekend, since the update on the Roam ver. 1, I have had no live metres ascended or gradient on the Elevation screen. Strava upload today has elevation of 816m which is about right (783 on my watch and 795 on planned route. )
Struck Gold was great. Chilly start was offset by the clouds parting right on 0800 and setting off with a massive tailwind made it a quick run to Clunes. Alas the wind stayed up so 35-40 kmh outbound was 20-22 in the return leg. 😄 A few of us took it steady to assist a group of about 8 or 9 back towards Broomfield & then the Forest gave us shelter. The hills at the end ruptured any cohesion but I waited at the top of the climbs and chased the big guy down the descent on Port Phillip Rd, picking up a PR and overshooting the final turn back to Hammond Park (might have gone through the give way sign at 75kmh - a calculated risky manoeuvre that was worth losing two places in the rankings to pull off). 🤡
@@brendanschiemer1276 Cheers for the ride report! I've dug around on the elevation issue on the Bolt, and yep, it's a bug/known issue. It has been raised with Wahoo, so they're on the case. Wahoo - was good while it lasted. Too little too late unfortunately - for me. I hope they survive and the updates help. (I was one who asked repeatedly for the Di2 status to be more visible.)
I went to Wahoo back when Garmin was on the struggle bus. Now the tables have turned. After too many issues with Wahoo updates hanging/crashing/rebooting taking half hour before every ride to get sensors on-line, repeating and it not able to pick up signal from their own HRM straps, I'm on Garmin again and will probably never go back.
(I also quit X/Systm/whatever it was called and joined Zwift because I can upload my own TP workouts.) And though I was a fervent Speedplay fan, they took too long to release a way too expensive power meter pedal - so now I'm on Favero and probably won't go to a four bolt cleat again either!
Some very hard truths there for Wahoo. The Edge x40 range is quite the leap forward ahead of the competition. A lot of the features we're seeing hit the Elemnt are still playing catch-up.

Nope. Ready to Ride is NOT on the ROAM V1 WD14-16473.
It’s still under investigation but we are concerned that our Wahoo head unit might have started on fire in our parked car and burned a good part of our car up. Have others heard of Wahoo head units starting on fire? It was not plugged in. We really like the unit but, if it did start that fire, it could have burned a house down or an airplane which is concerning.
That sounds like a can of worms best left for Wahoo and their insurer(s).

How simple is this compared to a Karoo 2 🙄...very buggy cycle computer 🤷
This update is complete rubbish!
Before the summit update it worked as it should. Then after the summit update, once it decided you were climbing (going up hill, once or twice going down hill) a summit screen came on with a beep. I then had a load of rubbish on the screen that I never wanted, needed or used and had to waste time in getting the info screen I did want. There was never an option to turn the summit off.
This last update gave me an option to turn the summit screen off but changed my normal screen to the rubbish Start Ride screen which I do not want, need or use. This update also, in about 18 hours of being turned off, the battery went down 13%. When I turned the Strava Segments off (which was never connected to anything) the battery stayed at 100%. But once it had been on for about 1-4 minutes, the battery went down 6%.
Wahoo said there is an option to turn off the start ride screen in the app. I turned on the phone and GPS and the battery (just for looking in the menus on the app for about 10 minutes went from 100% to 88%. I still can't find the option to turn it off.
Wahoo have completely messed this up!
