  • Founder and CEO Mark Reynier has spent over 45 years in the drinks industry - 20 in wine as a wine merchant and importer, and 25 in spirits, where he resurrected Bruichladdich Distillery on Islay, before establishing Waterford Distillery in Ireland, and later Renegade Rum on the Caribbean island of Grenada. Here he explains the extraordinary vision behind the Waterford Whisky project, and how vineyard inspiration is applied to the barley plant, and single malt whisky.

Great articulation of a vision. I’ve followed Waterford from the start and at this point in time, have seven different expressions in my collection.
I often say to friends and other whisky enthusiasts, Waterford are like bruichladdich on steroids, in the context of approach, vision, passion. MR is definitely the person you would pick to lead a start up! However it’s not all about one person, because clearly he has a knack of bringing people along with him. You can see it in other Waterford videos. I’m lucky enough to have met some Waterford employees at whisky tastings. And you can see it too with the people who ‘grew’ at Bruichladdich when he was there.
The foundation of a successful business is people!
I so look forward to visiting Waterford one day.
