Daniel, you keep nerding out about whiskey and I will keep tuning in.
I am 24 and own a home with some land. So money is “tight” but I would 100% buy a bottle that is $100-$150 like this over a $50 big brand because they are doing so much for their farmers. Farmers are what keeps everything going, and don’t get enough credit. Thank you for sharing them.
Agreed!
Always good to give back to farmers. 😊
Farm kid here. I do the same. Buy local meat because not that l9ng ago, that was my family
So we had the guy who founded waterford come to do a tasting down here in melbourne and he does say that he was making a scotch style as he used to run bruichladdich from when it was restarted. He just really wanted to use irish barley and they actually use irish peat for it which is a lot less harsh and strong compared to islays
I believe they actually do show it on their website for this bottle, I bumbled around a bit and found this list of farmers, and DAMN they even list the EXACT barrel numbers, types, fill wow its way more transparent than I thought.
(only 12 because the website is a bit broken)

Love to hear you talk about Waterford.🥃😎
Thank you for sharing another Irish whiskey with us 🥃 Sláinte 🇮🇪
I'm here for the science, kinda miss Rex's shenanigans xD But Daniel always have cool intel for us. Glad to have you along for my wiskey journey.
I really appreciate the format switch up and this type of review. It's really nice to see the old vault once in a while to remind us what you came from. Y'all have gotten a lot of cool stuff over the years that you've mentioned here and there but said you were never going to review due to sponsorship issues. Also love the Fred Rogers inspired intro.
I believe there is a code on each Waterford bottle - if you enter that code on their website, it will give you a lot of info that they track as part of their terroir 'transparency.'
These are interesting and I for one am here for Whittington's Whiskey Neighborhood
I’m glad you did decide to do these. And I love the format for it, a little throwback to old vault videos. ❤
Totally agree!!
The place where you get your wand, it's like the "no blades, no bows" in the Kevin Costner Robin Hood movie.
Excellent info on this video my friend.
Love the conversation, especially when you got to the farm part. THe individual farm releases do an amazing job highlighting the farms. Sounded amazing, solid to acknowledge your position. Cheers!
Cheers Daniel. Waterford is my favorite Irish distillery. Their single farm origin Dunmore is at the top of my favorite whiskeys of all time. I have a peated expression as well. I am headed to Ireland in May with Chad and Sara of It's Bourbon Night and hope I can find more to bring home.
Irish whisky is getting really interesting! Just had
a bottle of The Busker - Single Malt Irish Whiskey. Really excellent!!
Just looked and you can pick it up in the States for $32 a bottle!! Absolute bargain!!!!
Daniel, you're going to get sunburned. Even Mickey Mouse wizard had a wizard hat! 😉😉🧙🏻♂️
Love the reviews!
That's cool. I love little things like what they are doing. Thank you again Sir!
Love the intro/outro!!
That sounds wonderful! Thanks Daniel!
I try to follow everything Waterford does, it's all very educational and exciting. I hope to be able to get my hands on them someday.
Good one. Happy Paddys Day!
Fun fact about Waterford: an example of an Irish whiskey that drops the 'e'. Top man Mark came from Bruichladdich so it's no coincidence that there's similarities to Scotch in the tasting!
The distillery also used to be a Guinness brewery!
One of our local establishments has a whiskey tasting once a month. This month’s tasting is Waterford! Glad for a little insight into what to expect!
Nice video. Have had a few Waterford and enjoyed all of them.
Enjoying these videos thanks for sharing!
Your killing it on these.. please keep them coming.I enjoy these tastings and the let’s find out together
I am really enjoying these videos, you are doing a good job, Daniel.
Anyone else feel like they are watching the beginning of Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood when these start?
Anyways, these are a good addition to the rebooted Vault.
Im really likingk the new channel thingk Daniel it makes me happy to see the video drop everytime. Id love to hear about glenlivet man put it back up dammit :)
There should be a terroir code on the the bottle that you search on the website for more in depth information. Also it would be really interesting to see what you think of the peated versions.
Use the code for more information about that bottle
Love Waterford. Smom reminds me of it a bit.
If you scan the QR code on the back of the bottle you can find info about the farms
I think you would have an audience to do this with other whiskey marketing school people. I realize that the channels are separate, but I think the best part of the old whiskey tastings were the dialogue. That was what really made the channel unique, the diverse pallets point and counter point break downs.
The story episodes are good just really enjoyed the review content, hope to join you all in Austin one day for a class
Ha! Yup, that's cuvee!
There is literally a code on the back of the bottle along with a QR code you can scan that shows you all of the growers and farms involved in making this cuvée, along with a ton of other interesting info. How many previous waterfords have you tried, not to mention you went to the distillery, you should know this by now 😂
I really should :-) I think I was told that at one point years ago but I completely forgot
Still the best whisley Waterford's have put out
American pricing for this is surprisingly high, consirering that I looked up what it goes for here in New Zealand and it's ~$110nzd (which Google tells me is ~$67 in American dollars.) At the price it is here I'll probably be picking up a bottle.
If it has that apples note, how does it compare to a Green Spot? That is the most apple centric Irish whiskey I have tried and is a personal favourite of mine?
Does anyone else get the "Mr. Roger's Neighborhood but with Scotch" vibe from this??
🎉
This is my one beef with Waterford....stop bottling the single farms at 750 or 700...do 3 packs at 200 ml so you are always doing comparisons. I never saw the point in just drinking 1 farm because without being able to compare you don't see the terroir differences. 3 packs of 200 ml single farms and save the big bottles for the blends like this one.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
I love this idea. Even if Waterford doesn’t do it, it would be cool to see an independent bottler source three single barrels made from different farms and bottle them in this way(*wink wink* Alliance Series *nudge nudge*)
I’ve wondered for years what’s behind that door……
Yeah, I think we are in the same boat xD probably many people have wondered about this...
I used to smoke a pipe, cigarettes and occasionally cigars. What do you mean by pipe tobacco? Much like whiskey there are a lot of different types of pipe tobacco blends. When I pick out tobacco notes I more closely associate them with cigar tobacco.
I mean the darker non aromatic or English
Closer to cigar leaf but more dark
😁🙌🏻
What happened to the moocher?
I always thought that a Cuvée is a blend of kinds of grapes, and my guess is this bottle is aged in a Cuvée barrel?
I think it's that it's a blend of their separate single farm barrels. Their whole mission statement is essentially based off similar philosophies that you get in wine making. They prefix many of their bottlings with "Cuvée" or "Micro Cuvée". Maybe just marketing nonsense, but it's been pretty core to their philosophy from the start.
What happened to the regular reviews?
Daniel is associated with a nonprofit and rex with a foreprofit so the government thought there could be conflict of interest and that would jeopardise the non profit status of wizard academy. Others can feel free to weigh in if I'm wrong about this though.
@@LaurenceJvdV fucking government
Man, I missed Mr. Rogers
You forgot to mention Irish goddess Grace that much of us MB's fell in love with.
The thing that sort of puts me off buying anything from Waterford is that their unique selling points are single farm casks and terrior, and yet every review I come across of their blended stuff says that its much nicer than any of the single farms bottles. Kinda defeats the purpose IMO. That said I appreciate the idea behind what they are doing in highlighting the farmers contributions.
Gah flash bang please use dark mode... So bright with Google searches
I like this style and new format of video . No poetry just give me facts . I’m a nerd ,not philosopher.
"Interestink!"
2nd - If Rex were there, he would've certainly commented on "I'm a little lad who loves berries and cream!"
Cuvée is pronounced “coo vay”. But I know you’re gonna say, “ACTUALLY… it’s pronounced ‘idontgivea$hit” and that’s why we’re friends.

Definitely not the same channel. I grew my whiskey journey on this channel. Definitely hurts but I saw the video that explained it all.
