What Femke Bol JUST DID To Sydney McLaughlin CHANGES EVERYTHING! Female 400m Track And Field..

- As you saw, Femke Bol ended the 2023 season with a bang, and now, started the Olympic year with a phenomenal performance in the 400m! As you all know, it is the same distance Sydney McLaughlin shifted her focus on since last year.
On that note, some say that we can expect some mouth-watering clashes to come from the likes of #sydneymclaughlin and #FemkeBol. It is no secret that rivalries between the sport’s biggest stars always provide a gripping narrative for any season. And, mind you, this season isn’t like the others, since the Paris Olympics will be held this year.
Both Femke and Sydney are, without a doubt, ready for it.
For her part, Femke Bol is a multi-tasker. Whether it’s breaking barriers over the flat 400m, clearing barriers over the 400m hurdles or being the star member of her nation’s 4x400m relay squad, Bol proved herself to be a remarkable athlete in #trackandfield .

I’m torn. As an American obviously I’m pro USA and will pull for my country but there’s something about Bol i absolutely love and hard to root against.
Don't be torn, see beyond nationality and cheer for stronger human beings.
@@GreetingsEarth I agree with you 100% but everything has exceptions. The Olympics are one of those things I will root for country over individuals. That being said I wouldn’t be upset if she wins gold. I don’t hate against other countries I mean technically I’m French but I’m American now so I even pull for USA over France barely. I enjoy watching the best in the world compete and it’s always fun for two weeks every year to pull for your country.
I understand. I always say i love sports no matter who wins. But Femke is from my hown town and i was at the same athlethic club so i cant help being biased on this either. @@forestdweller5581 she is amazing absolutely. There’s just something about her I just really enjoy. So in Paris I’ll be light weight rooting against her but if she wins there will be a smile on my face.

The Progressive Socialists must find a way to minimize her achievements.
I just saw her win the world championship400m indoor Glasgow in a new world record time of 49.17s. I noticed that she was wearing earstuds in the shape of a lightning bolt! Reference to Usain Bolt who has a additional T in his name?
2nd place was for Lieke Klaver at 50.16s
I was just watching an interview with Lieke Klaver who was super happy for herself but also for her friend Femke. She is such a remarkable person!
When the cat's away the mice will play !
While that is his name, the word bolt has been referenced since the word was invented for speed, nothing to do with Usain, and her name almost sounds like bolt.
She did say at some point that she admires Usain Bolt but i think that remark was just about working hard to achieve goals. This young woman who is from my city works her ass off man! I just watched some videos about her weight training where she is bench pressing and doing the squats and all.....she has so much strength. I often feel like athletes are being overly pushed to perform but with Femke i do not see that at all. She is so into her sport.
I still cant understand it hardly....Amersfoort is not a very nice place and the Jamaicans have such a big tradition in athletics. It has to be that Femke just works harder. I think we all love watching this skinny girl run so easy with those musclebound women behind her struggling to keep up.
@@forestdweller5581 for the Netherlands Amersfoort is an average big city but it has a central function for all the towns nearby that it facilitates them. My town is next to Amersfoort but we have to go to Amersfoort for all sorts of reasons. Also things like senior schooling which is mostly not available in the towns. Children cycle to Amersfoort ( makes them strong) and many sport facilities at higher levels are found in Amersfoort.
Now go watch Sydney McLaughlin. Don't be a biased sports fan.

And as the relay kinda needs her she will do the relays and not the 400m. But what Sydney will do we don’t know yet. If they would race against each other it will be very close. But we don’t know nothing about Sydney. The wait till Paris begins I guess🥲
That would be an extreme disappointment, given that she is the best 400m runner in the world right now, with the real possibility of taking the time to sub 49seconds, especially if pushed. @Magnusfication I don't understand why an experienced coach would permit her to stay out of competition for so long. The poorest strategy except she's reeling from an injury....almost 2 years? It should be but we won’t find out anytime soon.
Bol could probably go about 48.8-.9 in the flat. Sydney's PB is the short time she's been running the flat is already 48.7.
@@cobra7282 Sydney have proven to be faster than femke so whatever Sydney did on the flat shouldn’t correlate with what femke can do.
However, based on Femke’s indoor performance she should easily be able to run 48.5 or less even without focusing on the 400 flat. It’s just so strange why she haven’t run sub 49 yet despite her attempts. It may be the approach she takes when it comes to the 400 flat.
@@kc5466It's not strange, she can run sub 49 but that doesn't mean she can do it in every race. Marileidy Paulino last year ran 12 races and only 2 were sub 49, obviously if you run only two races is more difficult to do so

3rd best
I heard Bol's split time in the 4 by 400 relay at the 2023 World's was 48.4 or 48.7 depending on the source. So that is on par with Sydney's PR in the outdoor 400.
Since that event Femke has improved substantially. Her trainer Laurent Meuwly recently said tests during winter training in South Africa pointed out that she improved in raw speed, endurance and power. She proved that with her incredible indoor world record 49.17 in Glasgow. According to general track knowledge that time should be valued as about 48.1 outdoors.
So comparing ‘old’ performances are inaccurate, in any case related to Femke Bol. As far as Sydney we don’t know yet.
maybe say 4 hail mary's next time, Sarah?
I have only been following Famke for a short time. I love her character as well as her performances, but I started to wonder if it was all too good to be true somehow. Then, while looking at her personal profile on wiki, I realised that rather than the young woman of modest proportions that she appears in flight, her height is actually 184cm. Holmes and Nielsen - who somehow look more imposing on the track - are “only” 173 and 171. No more questions!
And, for further context: Klaver is 182cm - the Dutch amazons rule!
still waiting for you to tell me what she did?
Sydney is extremely fast I would have to say advantage USA. Of course if there is an injury that can change everything.
Yep, mrs McLaughlin is (or at least: used to be) extremely fast, nobody denies that. However the current state of affairs is that Femke Bol is performing better, having just run her 3d World Record on the 400 flat, and having won 23 out of 23 races AND having run by far the best time in the World (and the 3d time ever) over the hurdles in 2023. And did you know that Femke Bol only started on the hurldes only in 2019, versus McLaughlin who start already way before 2016... That is quite some difference!

Has Muhammad retired or what? Bol isnt the world outdoor, record holder, so no need to be super hyped she gets near that record or best
She's not retired, she's just getting older, and can't be at peak form as often or as long these days. She's still good, but she has to pick her spots more, and is probably one of those along with Little competing over who the third best 400m hurdler is at present, behind McLaughlin (who isn't running but is still the best on paper) and Bol (who is currently dominating the field that is running).

Sydney McLaughlin maybe will compete in maybe two or three races this summer, this is to keep her value high in the retail market of sports celebrities, and her not risk losing the competition.
