Lovely bit off kit. Love 309 gti also. Takes me back to chilling down the seafront in Southend also being t boned in a fiat uno turbo 🙈 oh the good old days 🤣
G826 LYB... 🤤🤤🤤🤤 That's the rego for my 205 GTi 1.9... and I even let my dearest friend Duffskie drive it on the isle of wight ...! Later that day.. we blasted Military road too...!! Thanx for the trip down memory Lane @jamiefyd 👌😘
I've rallied a 1600 205 only around 120bhp with all the right bits, diff gear kit, adjustable pedal box etc.. Proper little things to handle. Currently rallying a 106 gti with 170 bhp and satchshift etc.. Great cars, great fun
That gearbox needs new linkage bushes to solve the gear change slop. Nice early phase 1 1.9 and a very original looking car, it clearly needs some TLC and please, throw out that horrible plastic red boot moulding (actually, sell it, it’d fetch good money) and replace with the original Matt black slatted moulding instead. Fantastic cars and thanks to galvanised panels, there’s still plenty about.
I’m a old school Ford nut at heart and own a mk2 escort atm but in the late 90,s I was so into the Peugeot 1.9 gti I actually owned 3 ,1 I had for over 10 years and was in the pug club and all that . Great to see them up close once again great review Jamie
Had my J plate 1.9GTI 18 years on the 21st of this month ☺ Still brings smiles and has only ever broken down the once and that was the brake master cylinder so easy fix 😬
Completely agree, owned a beautiful silver 3door MK1 with the black plastic rear spoiler between 1998 till 2000.. absolutely loved it, wish I still had it an was probably the best car I've ever own.
Back in the day my brother had one,we were thrashing it round some country roads and heard something metallic fall off.We searched the road and found a long engine bolt on the floor that had fallen out somehow, good car though.
Hi Guys, Just watched the video on the 205 gti 1.9 from the Isle of Wight, I was actually born on the Island and still have ties there although I moved off the Island in 1990. I own one of these babies and absolutely love them. Mine is in very very good condition and has no rust, and is still in the same condition as when it left the factory (no modifications what so ever) I love driving it and catch a lot of people out from a standing start its so quick off the mark and leaves lots of cars in its dust!! I just simply love it. It was first registered in 1992 and its registration number is J622CYT in sorento green, if you see me out and about give me a flash and the thumbs up. Cheers Johnny Rocket
Jamie FYD love the old cars back in the 90s bro, I remember my dad having a MK1 vauxhall astra and he put a 1.8 8v GTi and put a 1.6 carb on it, it was flying 1 day 1 of the boys said to me u up for a race let's go for it init. He had a vw MK3 GTi and I smoked him we pulled up down the beach and I said where was u bro 🤣. Keep up the good work bro Rob the Welsh boy 👍👍🏴🏴
My friend has one for sale. Nut and bolt restoration exterior, interior the works. Yours for £22,000 😳. I can’t believe I sold mine in the 90’s for a couple of grand and got a 309 GTI after.
From my experience all 205 had very precise gear change feel, very easy and fast. Just my friends very abandoned diesel had terrible one something you can compare to golf mk2
The time to buy a Citroen 4 vts 180 or peugeot 206 GTi 180 these cars are the rarest french hatches in the UK prices are going up fast if you can find a decent one get it.
It’s time to buy any late 80s/early 90s hot hatches/performance cars of that time... as there all rocketing in price now.., no mater what make or model there all climbing to what they were 5/10 years ago
Love them cars and I do have one and ill never sell. it as wen its gone its gone as we say.my one is a 2 owner and is the best one I have see thats not bin killed lol Love the video mate
Bought mine for £700 in 2010. Even decent ones then were about £2k. Loads of them died in the 2009 scrappage scheme.I think the ship has sailed on cheap 205's but the Clio 182...
There's a video on RUclips where a drone was flown over the airfield where the scrappage scheme cars were kept. There's still rows of old jags, JDM cars and a row of 205GTIs. Not sure why they've been kept, parts in the future maybe?
@@Wreck-Gar Mad as it sounds I'm pretty sure that in the original scrappage scheme in 2008 it was illegal to flog off the parts of the scrapped cars (no doubt some people did anyway...) but that was why in a lot of cases rather than being taken to salvage yards they were parked ip on old airfields and left.
Had six of them kept blowing the engines. But never paid more than £1200 for one. Won’t pay what they want for them now. Rather have a fiat 500 abarth much quicker and safer.

Love these old skool motors we all had these back in the late 90s hope you do more of these old cars would love to see a cav sri 130 cav gsi etc etc

We just love Ireland and Farmer Phil and Father Phil with their car's.A change from Tractors.💯👍💯💯💯💯💯💯
Absolutely love them, had my eye on one but got picked up before I had a chance. Legendary car.

I have a 205, 1.8D! A lot of fun to drive these cars.
I have the same car, do you know any way of making them a little bit faster on the acceleration?
@@grez6330 it depends on your car knowledge really, but the easiest way would be to turn the fuel pump up!
Mine arrives from Texas in the morning. I'm stoked.
Never driven any old iconic hot hatches but god do I want to, I’ve always loved the way they look and what they represent
I have the horn for one of these. Flying round the back roads in the summer. Perfection.
Excellent, but I wish a RUclipsr would buy or drive a 1.9 309GTI,the most overlooked GTI imo
love the 309 GTI, very underrated

Great review, I love your enthusiasm! I have a 205 with a Xantia 1.9 turbo motor, it goes very well, cant afford a GTi sadly.
Awesome video bud, such an old school classic. The handling in these are awesome, well engineered for the bends.
when my insurents is finished on my current car to get no clames. ive priced them out, so march next year. going to get one or start

If you want to do a review in a 172 cup you can take mine out any time. Love the 205!
Buy it Jamie, my dad has a 1.6 cti and their also staring to rise however not as much as the gti’s

Be good to do a comparison with the newer 308gti which is supposed to pay homage to the old 205 gti

I had a 1.6 205...I sold it for £250 :o(

That's an early one,I could tell by the dash 86/87 ?
I could have bought one for £850 from a work colleague in 1999 but didn't!
My all time favourite hot match good video 😃
I think these are becoming unobtainium now the prices as all 80s hot hatches are through the roof.
Never drove one but people used to say the 1.9 was too fast for its own good back in the day
In its day yes, tyre technology has moved forward alot since the 80's and decent rubber on a 205 helps keep it in order tbh.
@@PugGTi-vo2lg thank you for the reply mate 👍
@@PugGTi-vo2lg totally agree with this. I've got Michelin Pilot Sport 3s on and they are superb 👍
@@Wreck-Gar what size?
@@JeLifeCoach They are 195/50/15.
Where is it for sale at ?
A mate had a 205 back in the day with an MI 16 engine in it. Went like a stabbed rat
Had 3 of these ,for handling nothing comes close
Sold the last one in 95 for 3000.00 ended up buying a Renault twingo after that
Top Car!
my close friend has a red one
Need to pull my finger out and get my turbo technics one sorted!
Hey mate, any socials we can follow you on for 205 updates
Not really on any social media with it, I need to get it started up this week if I do I'll do a little video of it running 👍

my bro paid 5g for a 3yrold stdt back in the day
£1,750 in 1995, That was cheap, must have been in a state. My Corolla Gti 16v cost me over £7,000 in 1995
Spending the week on the isle of wight..... wishing id brought my 205gti instead of the audi! 😭😭😭😭😭
كم اعشق هادي سيارا لأكن لآ استظيع شراءه بي مبلغ قدره 30ألف دراهم

The time to buy is long gone. Now is the time to sell 😬
Prefer the diesel to be honest.
How many ads mate? Joke.
Not as good as the Clio Williams.
