Ballistol is great stuff. I’m glad to hear you got a sponsor, and that the one you got isn’t some mobile game, scam, or overpriced junk.
Funky smell but work as a charm 😀
Wait. Ballistol made a mobile game? What's it called?
Oh, sorry. I misread your comment.
BUT FIRST A WORD FROM OUR SPONSOR RAID SHADOW LEGENDS!!!
I have a gallon at home...
Othias: "Corporate needs you to distinguish the difference between these two guns."
May: "The're the same gun."
Scandinavian army officers: We insist that our sidearms must be as dainty as possible
Their vikingur ancestors: ಠ_ಠ
That's the best sponsorship I could ever imagine for a historic firearms channel. Congrats!
I saw that Ballistol was supporting you, so I DID pause the video and went and made another purchase from them, and made sure to give you guys credit for the purchase! BTW, I have also ordered my tshirts already as well. You guys rock! About time somebody sponsored your channel.
I was sure the "big" difference between the Swedish and Norwegian Nagants was going to be that they had screw heads sized for different coins.
Good thinking but at that time Sweden, Norway and Denmark had unified coinage, in terms of size and metal. It ended 1914.
We probably will single handily purchase all remaining stock of Ballistol’s nostalgic flasks
Yup. I got mine!
Othais, Mae, and other C&Rsenal viewers,
In the church scene in the first act of 'The Harder They Fall,' Nat Love is shown removing the spent casings from his revolver using an ejector rod. I didn't catch this upon first viewing but did in my second and I owe this to the revolver episodes of the Primer series.
Mae's shot pattern with the Swedish Nagant looks like a leaning Christmas tree.
Congratz to the Balistol sponsorship! Loooove the smell of that stuff.
Perfect timing, I was just going to bed! Sweet, sweet Othais ASMR with deep knowledge I'll wake up remembering bits of tomorrow! 💜
I'm glad for your Ballistol Deal. I use it since 18 Years. Used in the German Bundeswehr and using it still for my Weapons.
I quite like the design of this era of revolvers, a very efficient look.
Congrats on the Ballistol sponsorship. Great product!
Way to go, Ballistol!
Congratulations on the sponsor! Hopefully the additional resources help.

uhhh, the russian nagants kind of because of the gas seal, but that is a different gun than any on this video, and really the gas seal mechanism is pointless and just makes it more prone to breakdowns. idk why the russians thought a gas seal was worthy of a service revolver. overhyped because "neat" like many a gun
@@jameskazd9951 That’s the joke.
Fantastic news, I use Ballistol all the time, a great product supports a great show, good fit.
Oh my Lord 🙄 Thank God for Smith & Wesson in 1899 !!!
Ballistol user since 1994. Not sure I could go on without it. Ballistol will heal your skin as well, cuts & abrasions & sores & whatnot👍 Your gonna love the Ballistol people.
Thank god. At work and it’s slow and I was getting ready to die of boredom till this came into my feed
Some notes: A longer time ago, in a german arms magazine i read , that swedish revolver was used up to 1950s, may be early 1960s. According to those article, last users had been postal service and lighthouse service, some few guns had been changed for use of 7,65/.32 ACP, which was from 1920s to 1980s a common cartridge.
In german language countries the word ,Landsturm' was also known, and in Switzerland used up to 1990s. In 19th/early 20th century this Landsturm was used for the units formed of properly trained, but elderly reserve soldiers. When wwl started, the Landsturm units had been not intended for full frontline service, only fighting enemy breakthroughs, their job was doing military work in rearline, away from front, which is underrated, but very important. As longer wwl lasted, also untrsined men came to army and got shortened military training, the older ones came to Landsturm, also men of younger age , when not realy fit for frontline service ( after accidents, war injuries or with health problems etc.)
In 17th/ 18th centuries Germany, the armies consisted of professional soldiers, but there hat been still relicts of medieval/ tribal age levies (Aufgebote). In few cases not so well trained and equiped, but usefull militias, sometimes a mix of target shooters society, tradition keepers and police, but mostly units, badly trained and with dated weaponry. Such units could be used as guards, escorts, armed workers, may be to man field fortifications to defend a narrow valley. Landsturm is used as umbrella term for such low quality levies of 17th/ 18th century.
They were used for training police dogs until the 80-ties. So i have heard.
@@stefanspett7790 : German policemen in former Britisch Ocupied Zone used for some time Enfield .380 revolvers, last ones had been used in late 60s, for training police dogs and horses.
According to Göta Vapenhistoriska sällskap, they were used in the 50s by Verkskyddet, a paramilitary put up to secure and guard among other things, power plants, railways, bridges, telegraph stations and so forth.
.32 ACP makes a ton of sense in that instance. A super common police type caliber in many European countries for a long time. Also, a huge amount of pocket pistols were made in that caliber, so ammo had to be reasonably available and cheap. Semi-rimmed, so you don't need to use moon clips.
@@newnxntiny8535 : In Germany the word ,Werkschutz' is known for private security branch of Industrial companies. Formerly every large company had its own security personal, in smaller companies often only a single nightwatchman.
I use the hell out of Ballistol! Outstanding!!
1:10:46 Toki talking to Skwisgaar... voice, pronunciation, cadence are all there 😂
God dang it, and I thought I was getting to sleep on time.
Thanks C&R
Good old Moose Milk! Thank you Ballistol for supporting one of my favorite channels. I will definitely support you.
glad to hear you guys have a sponsor. I got myself a fancy flask plus a general assortment kit with oil and wipes. You can never have too much oil around.
Congrats on getting a sponsor, and thanks to Ballistol for sponsoring you. Long time user of their product.
Just ordered a nostalgic ballistol flask. Great product
congrats on the sponsorship, and a good one at that!
Mandatory Comment to help engagement stats. Also, I got some Ballistol one time on this channels recommendation. It seems to work just fine i guess! seems to crystalize when in excess, but that's an easy fix to remove, and just dont gunk it on like I tend to. Smells to high heaven, which I didn't expect when I first got it and it honestly freaked me out, but its not a terrible smell. But very pungent. I didn't think I would get it again, but if they sponsoring mom n dad, then I guess i gotta support em! Not that big a deal.
I’m not even mad about the sponsor spot, I welcome it. As long as it ain’t Raid Shadow Legends hahaha.
best sponsor ever.
This is the first time I have ever been happy to see an in show ad. Will have to check out some ballistrol. Congrats on a sponsor!
Glad you got a sponsor. I use Break Free CLP to clean my guns internal after shooting but Ballistol is my go-to for preservation and protection in between shooting and on my pieces that don't get much range time.
Scandinavian Nagants, aka HInga Dinga Durgen Nagants :D
I wasnt aware we scandinavians had Nagants
Thanks for the head's up on the Ballistol anniversary flask! I ordered two.
Great video as always. Keep up the great work!
OMG!! I just Opened my USPS and got TWO bottles of "BALISTOIL!!" I Use This Yhit On EVERYTHING!!
some pure, some 50/50, some 90/10, have squeeze bottles and Squert Bottles, and dropper bottles all over my gun benches!! Getting Hard to FIND?
Love these Revolver shows! but loving History "I Just Keep" thinking Scholfied for loading 1 or 2 action, size price, reliabilities!
I bought two of the Ballistol bottles and told them you sent me 😊
I can't wait for ballistol tutorial video. Your nagant tangent of chasing a weird set of requirements for a cost savings somewhere and then losing sight of why you were doing this convoluted thing feels painfully familiar...
Never seem to sleep on time Monday nights, thanks othias and may
Always glad to have another episode to watch at work!
Best Othias line: “If we strap them together we are gonna need a differential”
Super cool that you got a sponsorship from Balistol. As if they needed to convince any of us to keep using it.
This was a great episode covering two countries that there side arms, beyond the 1914 Norwegian and modern firearms, are not talked about much in English language books and such.
I love you guys.
This vid really holds important insights into revolver history. Thank you so much for delving into the arcane facts. Well done.
The delivery by you two makes it fun as well. What a mix.
This is actually the episode I've been waiting for a while. My grandfather's general store apparently had some swedish (so I was told, they could have been norwegian) nagants come in the eighties apparently who knows, but I've always been interested in details about them. Apparently one was in 9x20 Browning so maybe they were
Well, Ballistol's sponsorship has immediately worked. Because I somehow hadn't heard of it before.
I live in Germany = I got Ballistol
There is simply not much you can screw up with it
Have to be honest, this is the first episode where i really lost track, but still fun to watch.
Ballistol also works great to remove paper stickers from stuff.
Well played. Ballistol is awesome! And…nice shirt Othias! ❤😂
43:25 Could the crown-over-N just stand for Norge/Norway? The distinction of having the crown, where the others didn't, makes me question whether it's merely an inspector's initial.
Finger pads! I'm not crazy! Thank you, Mae! 💚
I use ballistol and like it. According to the can I can also use it to clean my pets ears!? Anyway ballistol is very common in the shooting scene here in Holland. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the only CLP around here in the olden days except for the surplus green can military stuff that turned out to be quite toxic... So I just keep on using ballistol especially now I know they're your sponsor!
"Where's he going with this? I don't know, I'm scared." You and me both, Mae. You and me both.
I really appreciate the sharing of knowledge. When I need to give an example of my interest in firearm development history, I use you!
BALLISTOL. The best possible sponsorship.
My question is, what happened to " War were Declared" ? I always enjoy that bit.
Armistice were Declared.
The Norwegian front sight reminds me of the front sight on old H&R revolvers
I have never used Ballistol before, but I will give it a try now! Thank you for all you do!
I really hope one day you are able to cover the Fiat-Revelli 1914 and/or St Etienne 1907 machine guns. Those are the two oddball Rube Goldberg great war guns that I really want to see the history on. I know its not your formula and some consider it sacrilege...but even if you can't find working examples I'd love even a history only no shooting episode.
We do have a plan in place for how to cover even without live fire. But that still takes a museum trip.
Thank you fir the wonderful videos
Great episode you guys! When you had basically wrapped up all of the firearms of the Great War I wasn't sure where the subject matter would go. I've been enjoying these late 19th century revolvers. These Swedish, Swiss and Norwegian Nagant revolvers are beauties for sure!
Love the videos yall make
I so want to see May go full John Wu movie at the range with a pair of those.
awesome sponsor, and the first time i have seen a youtube channel sponsored by any "gun oil"
"Mayhand friendly" should be a new term in this field
Thanks!
I just placed my order for the throwback Ballistol and included a nice note thanking them for sponsoring C&Rsenal.
A furiously interesting episode!
High quality historic content as always, as a Norwegian that has seen Norwegian Nagant in the wild in Norway "unregistered" after WWII. I like them better than the Russian ones, the triggers on those have an excruciating heavy trigger due to the gas seal system.
Funny, I was looking for videos with the 1887 a week ago or so, but didn't find a full C&R episode on it. But today it's here! Thanks! 😁
I did look and finger one 22 years ago before I bought my first 686. But as I intended to use my revolver, and a lot, so buying something that would be a pain to feed wasn't an option. Still would love to have one as a collector/curio piece, but I'm not going to go through the bother here in Sweden.
Primer 003 is from July 2015, so considering that there's two redone episodes that used to be before that we're just shy of 6 1/2 years of C&Rsenal. Gonna have to give us at least 6 months worth of curious ol' gats before you're allowed to toss in the towel.
...
Also as someone with anxiety, I'm fine remembering that I want to see a modern materials Nagant-lockwork revolver with a swing-out cylinder more than whatever childhood memory still gives me second-hand embarrassment.
The information regarding the purchases of the Norwegian Navy is generally low or missing, since the archive in the city of Horten, was burned down during the second world war.
It wasn't until 1:30:32 that I realized Mae's shirt has mushrooms on it! :D
Also, Ballistol is good for keeping swords oiled as well.
[support comment]
Amazing!
Love Balistol... buy it by the gallon to clean my flintlocks...as well as my more modern stuff...
Heres for the bike, commet, and imbibes.
Love the content as always.
Very cool for you to have a consistant sponsor aswell
Awesome on the sponsor. 🎉🎉
Oh I really like that Fluted 9mm version. That is sexy as hell.
I literally just got that old Ballistol bottle for my dad as one of his Christmas gifts because of this video. I prefer Hoppe's but my dad loves and always uses Ballistol.
That classic Balistol bottle looks mint!
Ballistol and water is the best black powder solvent. I use it for lubricating my round ball patches when I shoot at a match. Great stuff.
I bought a Ballistol t shirt after I saw yours. Use it all the time. I keep “moose milk” ready at all times for cleaning my flinters. Bought your t shirts too and am much looking forward to them! Great video as always!
For real though, that revolver looks so damn good in the thumbnail. The smooth collie gradients on everything, it’s so sexy of a gun
Don't worry, I've already forgotten everything important to make more room for trivia.
I am so happy that you got a sponsorship with Ballistol it´s fantastic. We always use it for our machines (not guns, but hey) and its great. Also whenever our users want to annoy us they will say:"Why don´t you just use WD40?" and then we will slap them.
A partner that is 100% what you do is the finding an indomitable Guinea pig boar under a dumpster that has taken over the channel kind of luck.....Well Done guys and partner.
Gah! Was just about to turn in and you drop this? Tomorrow is gonna be a tired day...
All hail our new green can overlords!
I need this!
Paused, ordered, returned.
Ahh nagant revolver is definitely up there on my "surplus pistols/rifles I wish I bought while they were super cheap but didn't cause I thought they'd be cheap forever somehow" list.
Congratulations on the Ballistol sponsorship. I use it on all of my milsurps.
Othius you are 100% wrong on one thing. If you are an officer, your pistol is not your only weapon. Your primary weapon is the unit that you command.
In those days, there was also a saber/ sword.
I use Ballistol on my Pickelhaube. And other stuff.
I’m going to buy some ballistol just because they sponsored you.
I use ballistol for basically everything that needs lubing, i have 3 or 4 in storage at all times
Dang I love this show. How does May deal with Othais? xD
Great to hear about the sponsor.
I assume the Maeversasion was recorded at the end of a very long day.
Would love to hear more of the stories of you guys finding these weird old firearms.
Hey guys loving this channel. Being a shooter and reenactor, both French Polish legion 1917 to 1918 and the Polish Soviet war.
And Australian AIF 26th battalion TAS QLD, volunteers, infantry.
Please tell me one day the Polish inter war Mauser will star in a video?
I have handled and fired a original and it is the only one I have ever seen. The workmanship, machining, and Crown eagle stamping are high quality in finish and lovely to shoor.
The owner would not depart from it..
In ny country French and Polish arms are not seen much
Ballistol works great with old black powder firearms, we use a lot of it in the North-South Skirmish association on our Civil War weapons. Great sponsor.
