  • I mentioned in my last video that Karen and I were traveling away from Red Moose Ranch in order to help a friend of ours rebuild a deck. And the response was...'bring us along'! Well, we didn't have room in our suitcases, but we did manage to capture some video of our trip.
    Aside from being very short and sweet and narrated, you won't actually witness me working in this episode. Whaaaat? I guess you'll just have to take my word for it.
    I'll show you some sights and sounds of this beautiful paradise, of the work we accomplished, and a little leisure we managed to squeeze in.
    Have you ever been here? Where's here? I guess you'll just have to watch the video! Thank you in advance.
    Moose Merch: Like I mentioned last week, T-shirts are next in line. I ordered a couple for myself first, to make sure they are something I would be proud to have you wear.

    We hope to have new designs and products in the coming weeks. THANK YOU to those already supporting this channel in one way or another. You are appreciated.
    Thanks for watching @LifeontheMoose !

    Glad you had a working vacation Patrick. Back in 2007 I went to Hawaii with a cousin and rebuilt his deck like you did, but we used Trex. Expensive but great material. Also did some house repair mods. Enjoyed it, and I'm sure you and Karen did too. Thanks for taking us along and for a happy rememory. 💛

    I understand termites are a big deal on the Hawaiian islands. Did your friend consider using a product like Trex for the deck surface instead of what I'm guessing is pressure treated lumber?

    • @LifeontheMoose
      @LifeontheMoose  7 месяцев назад

      They are a big deal. Many people tent their houses every few years. My friend is an ex-contractor and made all the decisions. I was just labor on this job!

    Houston here. Very nicely done. Is there a specific reason that 2x4's were used instead of decking boards? Is it availability, durability, or just cost? I would think that most lumber has to come from off island. I'm glad y'all got enjoy some time in Hawaii. It looks beautiful there.

    • @LifeontheMoose
      @LifeontheMoose  7 месяцев назад +1

      I’m not a hundred percent sure why. My friend is an ex-contractor and I never questioned it. He just said it was common there. And yes, most lumber comes from off island. Thanks for watching!
