    When I watched the blues scale being played in this mode, and doing bends it suddenly brought immense joy back to playing in this tuning. I have watched this video 5 times already, and can preform this song ok now.

    I came across Al's lovely arrangement of this piece a couple of years back and tried my hand at learning it but I guess my skill level or attention span wasn't co-operating so I passed it by. I rediscovered it last week and this time worked it out. It's definitely a piece for those who are very comfortable picking and want to discover the world of DADGAD. My only reservation is DVD instruction, yes they're great if you want to take the shortcut route - but do your best to work it out from simply listening to the piece first, yes i know for some it's hard but it's an important skill you have to learn when serving your apprenticeship as a guitar player - Good Luck !!

      Love hearing these stories of successful travel along the road to fingerstyle. Well done, and keep playing.
      It's funny how you come across something that stumped you in a previous season, and discover that you've gained enough skill since then that it's now become something manageable. Proof that you're progressing, even if it feels sometimes like you're not :)
      You should upload a rendition.

      Drones, my man. That's the Scotch-Irish hillpeople thing. Fill a chord out with drone tones, so it like never taking a breath. If you ever listen to dulcimer, or in Scotland (or a Ren fair) hurdy gurdie, you'll hear it there too.

  • @ginoquest
    @ginoquest 6 лет назад +2

    I tested the guitar tabs at FREE-SCORES.COM but it's not exactly the same as the video. I think Bergeron did his best in notating Petteway's music, but it's good enough for me. You have to add the bends and a few notes to duplicate the video. By the way, you can slow down the RUclips video to half speed to get his fingering right. It would be interesting if you all have an extension to this short 2:36 minute piece. Maybe an intro or another segment. I'd like to hear from you.

Playing mostly electric for near 40 years, acoustics ARE def harder on the fingers:/ Mine have got REAL tough, real fast,lol.
