    My father Fritz Voigt was Mickey's Chief Mechanic from 1959 to 1968. They first raced together at the Salt Flats in 1958, Mickey driving a twin engine streamliner. They claimed a record run of something about 285 mph. I remember the size of that trophy as an 8 year old, seemed almost as big as me. The following year they came with the 4 engine Challenger 1. Thus started a 9 year racing relationship. ( Nice driving Danny )

      I am Doug Hooper’s cousin, does your dad or anyone know what happened to the 1963 Corvette #119xp that Doug drove and won the 6 hour race against the first Cobra #98xp at Riverside in 1962?
      Yes about your dad : Doug said Fritz and MT were absolute geniuses and masters in what they did. Doug said they were the hardest workers and never asked anyone to do something they wouldn’t do themselves, like pulling all nighters to get cars ready for races. They were heroes and I think the molds were broken as not many can claim what these two accomplished with pure determination…you should be very, very proud of your pop…

      @kennethcasper8826 Hello Kenneth
      Thanks for the kind words about my father Fritz. As to the whereabouts of the Vette I don't have any information in that regard. Unfortunately my father passed away about 6 years ago and with him an abundance of knowledge has been lost.

      Well, my dad and his mechanics would make that drive every couple of days for a break from the racing. We KNOW what they were going over there for 😂😂😂.

      @@genxunclekey - Heck, even Henry Ford owned the land speed record for awhile (he did it on ice). And currently, the Brits hold it again.
