Blessings, my Scottish Detectorist friend, from this old man in gorgeous northeast Tennessee. You, my friend, are the most hardcore detectorist in this world. Git er done. Woohoo! Silver…and she’s a beauty. Those other bits are some nice artifacts as well.
1968 was the first year of issue of certain decimal coins, 10 pence to run alongside old florins (both the same value) to get us used to them before decimalisation in 1971. I wondered whether the "fancy buckle" could have been part of a hair-slide, for holding a pony-tail together. And silver! Another great day, John.
Good day, indeed, six coins including a silver plus a lovely buckle kind of thing, a print typeface, a postal seal and a swirly thing with a nice bike ride in Perthshire. 🥰👍👍
6 coins is a great result John, I think that six pence must have been lost soon after minting and, no, wellies and bikes don’t go together hope you got back home ok cheers John I enjoyed it.😊
Bit of feedback on Jethro programme. Finally got around to using it yesterday and I have to say it's pretty awesome! Knocks spots off Gary's pitch 101 which was my go to settings. Thanks for sharing :-)
Great dig today, 6 coins and one of them silver. That buckle is beautiful! I am interested to know if you printed the piece of type and if so, what it said? Thanks John!!
What a terrific day for you, John. I like that you're still finding silver, and that freshly minted silver coin was quite a find. I'm also interested to see what words are on that bit of typeface.
I have two folding detectors especially for mountain biking. Can't drive everywhere! And yes, my Nokta Accupoint has a two-tone setting where one of the tones is for iron.
Great finds today, John - I love that bit of typeface! It would be interesting to see what it says, not sure if inking it would damage it, though. I was wondering - would you ever do a Q&A type video? I have a lot of questions (I'm also a newer subscriber, so pardon me if they've been answered). What do you do with your finds? How do you stay safe from all the lead? Etc. Anyways, thanks for the great video! :)
Many thanks for supporting my channel and thanks for the suggestion! Yes definitely a Q&A at some point, great idea. I’d probably do a few so people have the opportunity to join in! Great suggestion
Hi! Dying to know what the typeface says!!! awesome finds as always. Thank you..(oh, your beginning intro on the bike, re-watch and you will see something black in the sky where the white part of the clouds are...alien?) cant be a bird, it wasn't moving like that. lol. I thought maybe something on the lens? haha.
Amazing that I got all the way through the 1970s, without ever wearing a helmet on my bike, which I rode from 1969 to 1981. I do think that helmets are a good idea now though! (Traffic has got heavier and dtivers more aggressive)
Note on the bottle cap, we don’t have that style in Australia. Saw Pete drinking on a previous video and wondered about it and thought how annoying. Great silver and George 2 and all your other bits and pieces. Would love to know what the type face says if you are able to clean it up enough. Thanks for sharing.
I do back flips here in the USA when I find a 1800s coin. Her in the central states it wasn't settled until the early 1800s. Good hunt. You need a electric bike.
Some great finds on a fab new permission, lots of promise there for sure! Love the buckle. Did you find out what the type face said? Is it from a book?. King Charlers III is at his Grandmothers Castle of Mey this week I believe.
I found an exactly shaped piece of type face in the fields of West Lothian. To see the mirror image, take a photo on your phone, go into edit and revert it. Not sure about the comment about countries not having history before the 1700's.🤔
Thanks for that. And yes got my wording muddled! Of course history before 1700, just not in terms of metal detecting metal finds is what I meant to say …. Or something along those lines 🤪
A note on your bottle cap reference, an almost useless invention in my view which also stops the charity market from benefitting from the sale of collected caps!
Dear John, open your mouth and say "ahhh". Now, say Taco using that ahhh. That is how it is pronounced down here in taco land. I would bet you do great with burrito....rolling those r's. Now off to catch up and see what other silver you found.

Thanks John, just what was needed today to turn it around. Your detecting adventures never disappoint.
Couldn’t agree with you more on the subject of those new bottle tops, another great video John
Many thanks! I don’t know sometimes I think the world is going crazy 😜
Lots of exercise for you, between the biking and the firm ground digging!! Thanks for saving the wiggly worms❤
That 4hrs was worth the leg energy John! Great finds and another lovely George silver in great condition 🎉
Thanks Pauline. A beauty of a silver. I’m over the moon with that one
I think Albert could crawl across the ground blindfolded without a detector and STILL find treasures.
John: "I hope the Jethro program lets me find deep targets!" _Monkey's paw wriggles_

Thanks for the video. A good day of detecting and you got your exercise too. 👍🏻🍻
Time for a cuppa! Wife! Get the kettle on! Cheers, John. PS The weather back home looks lovely! It's 106'F here today!
Good intro on the bike! You are dedicated for sure!
Many thanks! And thanks for watching
I think the 'little button' that got a high reading might be a silver cufflink...
Good day, indeed, six coins including a silver plus a lovely buckle kind of thing, a print typeface, a postal seal and a swirly thing with a nice bike ride in Perthshire. 🥰👍👍
Thanks Terry! A great wee day out and a nice invigorating cycle too!!

I made it home Mr Ghost 👻 many thanks!! Thanks as ever for watching
Aw cuppa before work and a wee watch 😊 great to see you out on the bike I really need to start my cycling again
Bit of feedback on Jethro programme. Finally got around to using it yesterday and I have to say it's pretty awesome! Knocks spots off Gary's pitch 101 which was my go to settings. Thanks for sharing :-)

Thanks for the video work and cycling with wellingtons to get there on the new permission and having us along to watch as you find new treasure's
Interesting finds John,
thanks for taking us along.
John, if you get two bikes send one to me 🤣 Don't forget to let us know what the typeface says. Great video as usual,.
Another fine hunt. You can hear a huge difference in the pin-pointer. Happy you figured it out.
Great dig today, 6 coins and one of them silver. That buckle is beautiful! I am interested to know if you printed the piece of type and if so, what it said? Thanks John!!
I love your show!
lovely mix of finds John , the silver tanner of George is in mint condition well done thanks again cheers
Another silver, great for you. Other finds are very interesting as well. Looking forward to seeing what comes your way next. Cheers from Texas.
Thank you bro. Really good work. Lovely gorgeous George silver.! Props to you.! 👊
What a terrific day for you, John. I like that you're still finding silver, and that freshly minted silver coin was quite a find. I'm also interested to see what words are on that bit of typeface.
Nice bunch of finds. Congratulations!!!
Use your weight on a spade pal, you'll damage the sole of your foot stamping 👍
1968 was the first year of the 10p, two shillings ran alongside them for several years.
You always make my day, love watching your finds. Have great finds in the future. Respect, from Sint Maarten.
That Edinburgh postal seal is a gem.
The 1964 film Culloden is absolutley brilliant, A really excellent film. It's on YT and 100% worth a watch.
I have two folding detectors especially for mountain biking. Can't drive everywhere! And yes, my Nokta Accupoint has a two-tone setting where one of the tones is for iron.
New permission paid off and Silver again!

@@thescottishdetectorist Thanks for the reply!! Awesome, I look forward to it!
Hi John this is inspirational and I love it so much❤
I'd say you did well!
Sure to find real treasures in this field.
Good luck! 😊
Congratulations on the new permission!

Brilliant as always 😀

I think the buckle is older than you think,im saying 1600s early 1700s
Do you know why it had the gap on the side?
Thanks for video!
1968 is not that long ago!!!!! :) (IMO it was a pretty excellent year!)
You need to sharpen the spade. Enjoyed the fines. Thanks again from Canada. PS. Get an electric bike the gave one to Northern Mudlarks
Very nice finds! Your new permission gives you the very good, and the usual bad. But you wouldn’t know, if you didn’t try.
Brilliant finds today 👌and silver again 😳😂
Congratulations on ur silver coin 😊
I’m absolutely with you regarding ‘captive’ bottle tops! They are a real pain! Not the easiest to line up, leading to flat lemonade - not impressed!
Your “buckle” could some fancy part of braces? The slidey bit.
Thanks Tim. That makes sense! Many thanks
Note on the bottle cap, we don’t have that style in Australia. Saw Pete drinking on a previous video and wondered about it and thought how annoying.
Great silver and George 2 and all your other bits and pieces. Would love to know what the type face says if you are able to clean it up enough.

John, get you an ebike! Greatest thing ever!
On it john 😀💪🏴🏴🏴
So much fun to watch!!❤
Long way to bicycle in rain and lightning. YIKES.
Just a thought could that buckle maybe a old light switch or door bell? You know the outside decoration plate going around it.
Aha! That’s a great suggestion, I’ll need to look some up!
@@thescottishdetectorist Thank you! Just a thought. Please let me know if you find anything!

That pinpointer seems to give you a lot of grief. Ever thought about going back to the old Garrett carrot?
Some great finds on a fab new permission, lots of promise there for sure! Love the buckle. Did you find out what the type face said? Is it from a book?. King Charlers III is at his Grandmothers Castle of Mey this week I believe.
Great evening entertainment just popped up on my phone..👍👏🧑🦯🏴
not a bad day john
The pinpointer sounds like R2D2 today
Yes, made a few changes and it’s working better as a result
Maybe you need a small trowel for the things "just one more inch" down. 😊

Thougt I was watching clergy at first 😊
Well done on the new pasture 🐄 and Hope you get your electric bike 😂🤞🏻🤞🏻
E-Bike please 🤞😁🤞
As we say in the USA about spendables...taco money 😅😅
Maybe a big umbrella?
Do you have a lightning app on your phone?
I do yes!
Real strange a 1968 10 pence coin, we didn’t go decimal until 15 Feb 1971 ?
Yes the date threw me too, but apparently released pre-decimalisation to get people prepared for it!
Beautiful sixpence, well done
Suspenders guide I'd say John...
What did type say?
You deserve a healthy dome! A bike helmet saved my life once.
"...both hands on the handlebars" as he uses one hand to record the video.
And uses the other one to point at his helmet.
How do we help John get an eBike sponsor?
I thought of that idea, too when I wanted to tell John that he’ll have the ride back home to pedal. 🤭
Really fun video. I hope you get that electric bike!
Oohhh dropped it 😂😂
Gee….never heard John say that before! 🤣
Is that a regular bike? Or e bike?
Cause if e bike, lithium battery should Not get wet. Fyi
👍👍
All these Georges should really be called Dode in Scotland. The subscribers may need educated on the Dode.
Could the printing item be
The 11th commandment ha ha
hi john
haha john you need ironbrew
2nd! ❤️😁
Hi
Button looks like a horse pulling someone
Metal detection starts a 4 mins

Please do not use an e-bike as long as you are physically able to move yourself. Your health will thank you later in life!
Very sensible ! Many thanks and best wishes
That buckle looks a lot like a woman’s hair beret!
Aha! I’ll need to look into that one. Many thanks
