    Nice to see that your realized how some points of Death Battle were flawed:
    Some more info below if interested (mainly coming from other users and places):
    Helios for the speed feat is really bad, as mentioned with the flashlight comparision. But also keep in mind tha Helios was weakened, was not at his chariot or temple/chariot used to bring light to the world. So the scale of Helios light of the Underworld vs the one Kratos experiences in his "battle", are two different things.
    There is the Hermes speed argument (as fast as Helios light in the Underworld) but that also doesnt works since Kratos could'nt keep up with Hermes, only hitting in the state withe catapult due to Hermes cornering himself with his constant taunts and stupidity. Also, during their main fight, he was injured and shown signs of exhaustion, and even then Kratos could only hit him propely when he had to stop to recover.
    All things considered, there is little justification for Kratos and Asura being tied in Speed, where Asura should've had the category.
    Also, since mobility is connected to speed: Asura can fly, but Kratos cannot. Even with the Icarus Wings Kratos mostly just glides with thoses and he needs air currents to fly with thoses; and even then he cannot fight ince he needs to hold the wings with his hands.
    Mantra draining shoouldn't be a problem. The reactor put and fuelded in Asura for his final fight produces Mantra on it's own in high quantities. Even the Blade of Olympus wouild not be able todrain it so fast, when we consider it's use in GoW2 (Kratos had to stun the Colossus of Rhodes to have enough time to put his energy, and needed several uses to drain his god pwoer from the Colossus). So Death Battle put a detriment to Asura that would not happen in this match up.
    Tyr was holding the Ragnarok with his magic, and even then just barely. Besides that, the 9 realms each may not even be equal to a universe each, since all of them can be considered just as big as the Norse region of Earth, each occuping the sama spot but in parallel dimensions separated by the World Tree. Also affecting the Tree may also not be that huge of a feat, because of that and the fact it is limited in size (taggs needs to trim it or it overgrows and falls).
    And yes, even the highest scale of it could be seen as outlier (either by Tyr or the legend of Thor and Jorgumandr clash affecting the tree, despite the game showing that is not what happens during their fight) and not compared directly in the same to other of Kratos feats during his Greek fights:
    -According to supplemntal material from GoW, Kronos defeated Uranus just as in the myth: using a scythe on his "weakpoint" during a suprise attack. If Uranus scale to universe or more in pwoer, Kronos doesnt necessarily does so;
    -Atlas holding the greek world may be limited just to the lands of Greece and around, not the universe (he is not holding the sky). But even if he did, Kratos didnt beat him directly in the fight, he just imprisioned him with chains (and in GoW2, where Kratos is stronger, he was barely able to push 2 of Atlas fingers and may have been killed by Titan if he failed to convice him);
    - The Pillar than hold the Greek World required Atlas plus helios energy and seevral blows to jsut damage it, requiring Persepheno death energy balst to finish the job;
    -When Kratos fought Kronos, the latter was imprisioned and Kratos need to sue every tool in his arsenal, lots of deception (hiding from sight and using Helios head to blind Kronos) as well using his size, effort and enviroment just to kill Kronus. Whatever full power Kronus is at it (below Uranus), Kratos doesnt match it;
    -Zeus is scaled based on him using Kronus and Uranus as references. As mentioned, that means little here to prove him to be a univeral or above threat (and considering how he was complaining the amount of work he would need to fix the Greek world just makes thing worse);
    Even if we consider Kratos power on the level that Death Battle put, there is enought info to how it as ambigous and only at best high ends interpetrations. The average or standard pwoer that Kratos should have is way lower than the numbers they put
    Meanwhile, Asura, as shown, was fighting on that level casually at minimum during his fight with his Chakravatin, and the Golden statue form that Death battle used as base for scaling Asura pwoer was not even the final form, which was strong enough to stop Asura with one finger until he unlocked an futher power up.
    In another words, Death Battle ignored mid and lower levels/ ends interpetraions for Kratos more ambiguous power as the standard; while Asura more sure power that overshadows the mid and lower of Kratos was downplayed to be lower than Kratos high end, when Asura final battle could've been a amtch or even bigger as the standard for him.
    Death Battle really messed up in some form. Either by explaining rally bad their argumentsts or using faulty logic.

      Honestly, even if it was a suprise attack, he still defated Uranus and we know for a fact Zeus beat Cronos at his peak, so he should atleast be around the level of Uranus due to the fact that Uranus was more than likely slightly stronger than Cronos as well. So Honestly, that's not even that much of stretch, it makes sense within the context of the narrative

    Hey, resident Asura's wrath fan here. If you want to play the game, it is recommended you at the least get the final episodes dlc, because they have the true canon ending to the game. There are other dlc, two canon, the .5 dlcs, and two uncanon, the street fighter crossover dlcs, but they aren't as important as the final episodes dlc, though i still recommend gettin them as they are REALLY good still.

    So, i'm here to dunk on some points on what deathbattle didn't really understood about the powers and feats between kratos and asura:
    So, for the Power aspect in Kratos' Case: Using the scale of "Ragnarok's Fight that shook the world tree" is a really dumb metric to use, mainly because that shaking happend *after* asgard was blown into bits, so saying that Kratos did something similar is just a stretch, it's something akin to saying "i use a bomb with a 10 tons of TNT and that makes me just as strong as the Explosion is". At best i would say that Kratos holding his own against Cronus (who is weakenend btw) and or Thor, who fought against the world serpant, but that's really debatable, since kratos didn't fought the serpant himself.
    For Asura, using the Golden Chakravartin form as a scale is cute, to say the least, but i would say that after his Transformation into his final form, beating chackra would've been a greater feat, even if the "mass" or "size" isn't as impressive. Let's not forget that Asura blew up Red/Blue Giants in order to reach chakra, that would need equal or more energy to be blown up and a Moon almost the same Size as chakra.
    For Speed: i think some people noticed it, but saying that "Kratos was able to kill helios who is 'the sun' or has the power of the sun" is really ridiculous. Mainly that Helios is the personification of the sun, where he did have the Light of the Sun, but not really the ability to use it to speed himself up at lightspeed without his temple or chariot. At best, i would say he could be close to that and he was able to punch Heimdall, who had the ability to sense what his opponent would do next.
    As for Weapons: i don't know why they covered Kratos's Weapons from Greece minus the blades, because as it was said in the Games, those weapons/magic was bound to the earth, aka Greece, so at most i would say he had the Axe, Blades of Chaos and Draupnir Spear. As for the Blade of Oylmpus? It was a memory of Kratos while he was in Valhalla, where he had the ability to use it even though it shouldn't be possible, but i give them the benefit of the doubt and say they used Valhallah as the battlefield.
    Also, i hate how they lowballed Asura's Durability, because he was able to withstand several Blows from Stronger enemies and survived wild Stuff like "being Pierced by his Masters Blade while falling down to earth from the moon" or "being able to withsand Lightning attack from Deus who used the power of the Karma Fortress to buff himself up".
    Also as far as i know, the Draupnir Spear in game had the ability to copy the element of a certain target and not drain from them and even then, if it were the Case, Asura himself gets enough Mantra from his own Wrath, not speaking of people like Kratos, because even though Kratos managed to control his own anger, it still remains. Asura only died at the end, since the Being who created Mantra died, so there wasn't a concept like Mantra left in the world.
    I could write some more, but those were my main Critic points towards this Death battle.

    That's the issue with Death Battle. They like to do a lot of "if this is this and that is that then that must mean this equals that so we can assume this". They try to connect things that aren't the same, like just because you can do this one thing doesn't mean you can survive that thing too. That's like saying because you can survive shooting a gun, you can survive being shot by one, not even close to the same thing. They did the same lame reasoning with the Omniman vs Bardock fight.

      The problem I have with this death battle is, in the GOW mythology all Kratos’ strongest feats are told not shown. Meanwhile ashura’s highest feats are shown. And they have higher feats that are told, but that’s post credits stuff. Meanwhile, if you compared purely shown feats ashura would wipe out Kratos. And they don’t take into account ashura’s wrath final episode dlc feats. So I can’t say for sure he would win. But it is disappointing they didn’t account for that in their death battle. As for the alternate ending. They do that for every death battle. You can access their logs on all the alt endings if your a Patreon. Or so I’m told.

    Also to add at 25:55 they measure the creator of the entire universe to the density of gold and above all that giant buddha statue isn't even the boss's final form the giant buddha is more of a shell and the real god is within that which is MUCH stronger. Then to further boost asuras strengh is that when shakra enters his final form it only took him a single finger to stop asuras mantra form punch and forcibly return asura to his BASE FORM, then within a short amount of time found a further increase in power out surpassing all his other forms and killed chakra. For real tho death battle is becoming whack. And their research are just bad

      While it is odd to use that, Asura doesn't benefit from what you mentioned anyways. Chakravartin himself is 4th dimensional. Kratos casually sits in the 5th dimensional tier through the fact he's more powerful than the world tree.

    • @ChargeQM
      @ChargeQM День назад

      @uj7739what does 'more powerful than the world tree' mean? Look, being able to shake something that exists across multiple dimensions isn't that awe-inspiring (proportionally speaking). I'll give you a thought experiment to illustrate it.
      Lets say theres a planet like Earth. It's floating in the void, doing Earth-like things, when suddenly a massive sheet of paper comes into view... except it isn't paper. Its a two-dimensional object, coming at the almost-Earth with all its mass. The paper, at its current mass and speed, has enough force behind it to crack the planet in half, and when it hits, it does just that. Envisioning it as a huge, rigid sheet of paper many times larger in diameter than the planet illustrates the mass, while showing that its technically a dimension lower than the sphere-shaped planet (2 dimensions vs 3 dimensions).
      Am I saying its nothing special to shake an object that exists in higher dimensions? Of course its special... but also, it might not take that much more force, since we have no idea how much more mass something would possess in those higher dimensions, or really any of the potential laws of physics across time. At best we can apply the square-cube law, but that's bound to be inaccurate.
      What im trying to get at here is that when you say Kratos shook the world tree, that doesn't mean he suddenly has unlimited ability to attack extra-dimensional beings or break space-time apart. It just means he made contact with a part of this higher-dimensional structure that stuck into his dimension, the weight, size, and mass of which we have no idea of. For all we could guess, Yggdrasil is weightless and has extremely low mass, so shaking it is about as hard as flipping the Temple of Tyr. We just can't make assumptions without a baseline.

    My guy, you have no idea how right you are about Asura's Wrath being an anime. The whole game is structured like an anime show: There are 3 acts of six episodes (plus 4 more in a DLC Act), as well as a handful of a few other DLC episodes. Each episode has opening credits, and is split into two main segments. Said segments are broken up by splash screens (which are really a way to hide the game loading data.)
    Asura's Wrath is over the top in the best of ways. The only real downside is that DLC thing I mentioned. The true ending of the game, the last four levels, were offered up as DLC separate from the main game. Nobody liked that when it released. :/

    You see, these kinds of things are actually common in the "vs" realm when you compare anime/manga verses and comic verses and then anime/manga vs comic. To a lot of people here ( i don't mean to sound condescending whatsoever, it's not exactly the most popular thing and is rather nerdy and a lot of people say "bro it really isn't that deep") they aren't well versed with how one would powerscale. Objectively Asura really would win, based on just the limited feats he does have, vs Kratos who has had comics and multiple games written and added input from different writers etc etc. Now me being subbed to this page, i too am a massive Mythology and History nerd, tied in with religion, and i love Kratos to death, but when you fight someone of Asura's calibre and what he represents in Hinduism and Buddhism, Kratos wouldn't be able to match it. I've made the assertion, and so to that you need to back up the claim as then the burden of proof is on me, we know of kratos and what he did with Yggdrasil and Atlas, but 1 of Asura's abilities is centered on the commonly more well known "1000 armed kanon/Bodhisattva/Guanyin, or in Hinduism's Sanskrit "Avalokitasvara" - This embodiment and power is at minimum infinite 3 dimensional power, so in the powerscaling scene, he's at least 3 dimensional universal strength. Arguments can be made that in fact he's even into 4th dimensional power when you factor in the genuine complexities of how deep Hinduism and Buddhism and their dieties actually go. In the video they briefly went over one of Asura's speed feat which is legitimately solid, and Asura can achieve that for sure. However, one thing when powerscaling "speed" specifically, it comes in ranges of movement speed, reaction times, combat speed. Asura is minimum millions of times "FTL" (Faster than light) in all of these if he wanted/needed to be. Am i mad about how it ended? No, it's for entertainment and i love both characters. Is it understandable as to how they reached their conclusion? Well...some of it was a bit off, but yeah, it's understandable. Is it their fault? No, because we only have the 1 game they're citing Ashura's feats from and not his entire lore/background. We know a lot about Norse myth/Greek myth and the things to expect from their respective religion and myths, but it's not as COMMONLY known about Hinduism, which is understandable, as even with the Vedic scripts etc, not everything is even possible to be translated yet from Sanskrit. BUT there's enough information out there where if you do enough digging (not even much tbh) you'll understand that in Hinduism, deities fight on literal COSMIC levels CONSTANTLY. Don't get me wrong, yes the Primordials are strong in Greek myth, but Norse don't hold up to that in regards to their deities and monsters, and even the Greek Pantheon including the old ones would struggle against demons/deities from Hinduism. Sorry for taking up so much time with my comment if you read all of this, but i hope this was at least a little bit insightful. Appreciate the vid as always Mythology Guy, i loved your reactions hahaha

    To clear up the Helios and Chronos scaling:
    - Helios was severely hurt when Kratos killed him, but he wasn't when he was beaten and defeated by Atlas, whom Kratos also defeated, which they do mention in one of black boxes in the top right corner.
    - Chronos was tied up by the temple of the Gods, but it never really says he was weakened severely by it. Plus-
    - Zeus defeated Chronos and the other Titans when they were at full strength and Kratos kicked Zeus butt.
    - Zeus got WAY stronger than both Gaia and Chronos as he got older and Kratos STILL beat that version with is bare hands.
    - Hermes is supposed to be faster than almost all the other gods, including Helios, and Kratos beat him at full strength.
    - They were talking about Helios light, not his chariot.
    It may take jumping through a hoop or two, but it still checks out.

      Honestly I think Cronos would still be weakened. Not only was he walking with a temple on his back for like a thousand years or something and he was also placed into Tartarus so he most likely was weakened.
      Saying that you right, Kratos still should scale. Hades of all people could 1v1 Cronos in his prime and that was before Hades even absorbed Atlas soul and the souls of mortals which is the Hades Kratos fought and beat.

    They did kinda withhold a feat. A MAJOR feat. So, they talked about Asura's punch and how it broke Chakravartin's golden avatar type thing. Yet they FAILED to mention the part where Chakravartin entered his next form and blocked another punch of similar, if not more power with his FINGER. Now, the reason I reckon this punch is just as, if not more powerful than his punch that shattered the Chakravartin golden form, is because the angrier Asura gets, the stronger he gets. And it's pretty safe to assume that when he saw that bastard was not only still alive, but even stronger than before, he was pretty fucking angry, even more so than before. Which means that Chakravartin's finger is probably more than the power of that punch. Making his later feat of punching Chakravartin out of existence after being knocked into his base form even more insane and even more powerful than any other attack of his. Now, the fact that this punch that would most likely be more powerful than the first Chakravartin shattering one didn't even slightly hurt Chakravartin shows that he's most likely several times stronger than that punch. Making his next hits even more insane. Hence, massively increasing his power. If it wasn't clear, it's likely that that may actually match Kratos' feat, if not surpass it. Hence, putting their power at equilibrium, if not in Asura's favour. But, what do I know? I'm just a certified dumbass on the internet arguing about which fake big buff man is stronger than the other👍
    Also, another note about Kratos' feat, Freyr was able to hold Ragnarok's power back for a little bit. While Kratos is stronger than Freyr, that doesn't mean that he'd be strong enough to output that kind of power himself. He only held it back, and he didn't fully push it back.

      You can want his power to be shown but that’s your preference it doesn’t change the facts.
      Tell me how would they be able to show Kratos and Gods busting universes and multiverses every time in battle without destroying their realms they exist in? It’s the same thing with DBS they get close to busting a universe or talk about it but stop before they actually do it cuz they don’t want to bust it cuz they live there ofc.
      We see the primordials make Greek universe in their clash with one being the embodiment of the universe and he dies to Cronos who loses to Zeus and Kratos beats his ass, very simple power scaling.
      Thor can shake and damage the Yggdrasil in his clash with the World Serpent, this tree holds 9 universes and transcends the time & space of them along with the endless timelines, Ragnarok shook it and threatened it too as he destroys Asgard, Kratos scales to Thor and Freyr’ sword can clash with Thor’s hammer so Kratos scales cuz his Leviathan Axe scales to Thor’s hammer, again not hard to power scale once you know the lore and tiers.
      Death Battle actually low balled both Asura and Kratos cuz they could of both been argued higher beyond finite numbers and universes but it is more complicated so I get why they went with this method yet the result would not have changed.
      I think I could I made a better argument for Asura doing a bit better and making the fight closer cuz I scale him and know him more yet I agree Kratos more times than not wins, and I wish they did more in the fight to show for their power or make it closer like playing on Asura’s adaption but I love both and scale both so I’m happy this was well done overall tbh.

And this is just one feat, he’s got better feats and scaling to get even higher.
      Cronos being chained up doesn’t matter, those who argue he isn’t at full power I just ask them okay can you give a quantification of how much weaker he is- which they can’t, and again he fought gods who can make infinite sized universes so any fraction of infinite is still infinite so it doesn’t matter, and he’s got better feats like scaling to the Yggdrasil which has 9 universes and it’s infinite in size and transcends them too, they just didn’t explain it the best.
      You can argue either for the Blade of Olympus but he would be able to beat Asura to death and erase him with his superior conceptual attacks tbh it would just be harder ofc.

    I think it's fair to use Helios' speed, since Kratos can react to someone going that fast. Using your metaphor, it would be like dodging the punch of someone who could react and dodge a flashlight beam before it hit them. Reaction speed is usually what matters most in a fight, and that's what they're mainly trying to get at, I believe. So even if Kratos can't match Helios' speed, he can react to it and get out of harm's way, which is still just as impressive and all that's really needed. I think.

    They kinda bring up the weakest example of Kratos reacting to Helios’ light but a better example is the Hermes fight where if you use Helios’ light flashes Hermes can dodge it and it was confirmed by the Devs this was meant as a legitimate demonstration of his speed, and Kratos in turn can strike Hermes with a number of attacks. GoW has many more examples of great speed feats in its established lore but DB wasn’t gonna acknowledge the really extreme stuff.

On another note, if you're looking for other mythical content to react too at some point: there's this rapper on RUclips called Rustage whose made some pretty dope raps based on mythological figures (Anubis and Sun Wukong are two examples.) Those would be pretty need for a reaction. Just a suggestion.

    The only thing really missing for me was seeing a greater variety of weapons, items, or magic being used.
    Technically, the Blades of Chaos can absorb the life force of enemies to empower and heal Kratos, as shown in the novelizations of the first two games. In theory, they could probably drain Asura as well. However, since the Blade of Olympus is the stronger weapon, it makes sense to use that instead.
    I’m not sure who summoned Kratos to Gaia in front of Asura’s daughter-whether it was her or someone else-but using the threat of danger to his daughter was a strong way to start the fight. That said, it could have been executed better. Overall I really enjoyed the battle.
    I'm not sure, but i think that smirk kratos does when he's about to stop the Asura the destructir fist is a reference to a censored version of a cutscene in the original god of war that replaced a trapped soldier with an undead you have to sacrifice to progress. In the original scene Kratos says the gods demand sacrifice from all of us, and the scene ends. In the censored with the undead, he just evilly smirks at the undead when he realizes the same thing-because it doesn't make sense for him to say that to a mindless undead. I could be wrong, but that's my guess.
    In the battle with Hermes, he's injured, but you can use Helios' head-even the omnidirectional light burst-against him and Hermes can dodge it. After you best him, you take how winged shoes which gives you his full speed. In gameplay that's not as impressive as what his actual speed would be. Cory balrog has gone on record stating that gameplay is not the limit of what the character can do, they made a lot of concessions for player enjoyment and limitations of the system/engine the game is on

      Would your friend become faster than the light of a flashlight you just turned on and cover it before it shines on him because you said something like "feel the power of my stick!"? No, your friend wouldn't. He might be able to block before you turn it on, or aim dodge (the act of dodging before the attack is fired, usually by moving out of the attack's path before it's shot). But that wouldn't make your friend faster than the light of a flashlight because he reacted to you speaking, not to the light. Kratos reacted to the light, not ti Helios' one-liner, matter of fact he was grabbing one of his blades of Exile when Helios saud that, but put his hand right after that light was summoned and before it shined on him.

And Thor shaking the World Tree also broke time, with time being one half of the speed equation, plus the shockwaves had to travel through the multiverse-sized tree itself. So the speed is consistently in that universe-crossing range, they just picked the dumbest feat for it.

    Hey Mythology guy, if could please read this (im not forcing you) I would like to try and explain why Death Battle gave Kratos the speed feat.
    I believe the reason why they gave it to him is that Assuming the chariot is as fast as Helios himself, While is very slow and in a predicable pattern they also explicitly state that they are looking at the characters at their best outside of gameplay restrictions. so kratos being able to tag Helios would fall under gameplay restrictions as no normal human is going to be able to Tag Helios who is quite possibly thousands if not millions of times faster than the speed of light while in completely random patterns.

    Saying this matchup was less obvious is a huge understatement, the debaters were tearing themselves appart because Kratos's advantages came through lore which some have doubts from what was shown in game like you've mentioned with Helios and Cronos. If you've asked on the DB community about this matchup, most would call it the lore vs feats debate because one relies on context while the other literally shows their capabilities. It's that kind of insanity.

    • @floricel_112
      @floricel_112 День назад +3

      Yeah, that's why I put more stock in feats over lore. In lore, you can write someone to be as powerful as you want and your universe be as crazy as you want; that doesn't matter if gameplay doesn't show it. And during gameplay Kratos struggles with locked chests, then proceeds to ram a guy through mountains during cutscenes.
      What I'm trying to say is that Kratos's power is all over the place scale wise, even when taking lore into account, whereas Asura is shown to be consistently bullsh*t and gradually increase over the course of the game

    As a fan of God of War, I do think Kratos wins, it's just their reasoning for why he wins that urks me.
    The whole Freyjr thing doesn't make sense, just because he has magic that can hold back Surtr doesn't mean he can scale to Surtr, much less beat him and much more less scale to Kratos.
    Plus, it's very weird how they never brought up Kratos killing the Sisters of Fate in GoW 2. You'd think Kratos killing the deities who determine all events past, present, and future who are also trying to actively erase Kratos from existence would be a huge feat to mention, considering Chakravartin, the final boss of Asura's Wrath who ALSO constantly tried erasing Asura from existence during the fight. Maybe the Sisters don't have the same amount of power as Chakravartin, but it's still a feat that makes way more sense to use than assumptions about Freyjr.
    Another thing, Deathbattle acts like Kratos can move at light speed or move FTL which has never been the case in the series. He can REACT to moves that fast, sure, but not actually move that fast.
    Credit where credit is due though, I do agree with the Greek and Norse sides of GoW being their own universes as that explains how the hell the Shovel Knight fight and PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale are canon to God of War.
    And yes, I know Deathbattle isn't a truly reliable source and at the end of the day they're made for entertainment, it's just sometimes they can have some real ass backwards logic. At least I can say this Deathbattle is a love letter to both franchises, especially Asura's Wrath
