The funniest pipe welding tutorial video I have seen that actaully showed two great welder's showing how it's done and then not done with a few comedy moments thrown in for good measure. Great camera shots too, proper interesting to watch the puddle manipulation. I need to buy a Tig welder and have go at one day, in the meantime I will just have to eat a donut to help me look the part!
"Your technique needs refinement, you're doing everything mechanically correct"
Because this guy explained the procedure so well and so clearly. He is a great teacher! And a great addition to your team, glad to see him back to weld some more "O beam"
O beam 👌
The term "O- beam" brings tears to my eyes! It makes me remember "Uncle Rick". I learned so much from him and "Big Joe" RIP Ricky Gibson and Joe Tedder ! It was a great honor to work with two of the best pipe welders ever
This is pure gold fellas😂. Well done 👊👊
Weld all day, come home and watch you guys weld lmao
Skilled and funny fellas d*cking around in the shop is a solid way to keep my attention.
Truth
Yea I bet
Chicago guys call root pass a cushion? Nice
The chemistry between these 2 Brothers is fantastic. I was legitimately engaged in this video the whole time definitely learned a lot. Thank you from Orlando, FL
That dudes welds were niiiice.
A pipefitter and iron worker walk into a bar and say we need a BOILERMAKER TO GET THIS JOB DONE RIGHT.
I had to laugh when the comment of "I need a doughnut" came in. ... My ex-father-in-law, a pipefitter of 30+ years experience used to say that "doughnuts were pipefitter's filler. " That comment brought back memories from over 40 years ago.
I’m in the fitters union out of Seattle as a refrigeration mechanic. Can come firm donuts are a staple with the fitters and the rest of the trades in the local haha
Great Video!🔥🔥
Thank you for always posting informative videos. 😎😎
I look forward to the next video.👍👍
Love the knowledge passed on today...Good to see you guys have fun with This! It shows us you guys are still human!!!! Thanks a million!
Dude, that’s the first time I’ve heard someone quote “Mama Said Knock You Out” since high school. Thanks for that.
you guys have a weird but funny vibe together.. bring this guy in more haha
We plan too
Thank you so much for all your online content FOR FREE!!!! Old douche bags used to keep theses secrets, and act like sages. NO MORE! All it REALLY takes these days to learn to weld is a real desire to learn. All the old barriers are coming down thanks to dudes like you.
They still do. They think you're gonna"steal" their jobs lol.
@@johndowe7003 only the unskilled are fearful of losing their job
well done jason great effort welding pipe is not easy , would like to see your guest out of his comfort zone an see how smart he is , thanks jason
Brian and Jason, you guys work well together....Glad to know both of you. OK, Brian, you are a little goofy in this video, but that is so you.....and your command of non standard Terms and Definitions is AMAZING.
Yes...DONATE your feelings loved that remark.
I love watching these guys, “did it go away”? “That’s what I heard”🤣🤣😭
Thought Redbeards grinder safety was funny this one is actually better. Learning all the time but with a smile: win win!
Good video. In Minnesota all the unions think they are better then the other. Refreshing to see unions working together
Love the banter. Also bad ass arc shots and I learned a lot. Keep it up! Y'all are like a funny science teacher and that makes all the difference to the young ones coming up lol
I'm a subscriber who has never welded but am fascinated watching it. I believe that I have learned enough that if I tried it, with the proper setup, could make a weird that wouldn't totally embarrass me. I really enjoy your videos.
Time to pull the trigger
Watching and actually doing, are two completely different things👍
Ken F Yes, I know, that's why I said "with the proper setup " and a weld that "wouldn't totally embarrass me". Still think that under these conditions I could do that. Nothing near a weld from someone with experience.
Cool stuff. Cracking me up, guys! I want a donut! Haha
As a hobby welder, I always learn something from this channel. Now where the hell do Inplace my elbow again?
Learning to do shit freehand & with both hands will increase your skill level a lot. Once you can run beads like a pro with your non dominant hand you'll be ten times better than a lot of guys that weld. Takes a lot of practice. If you ain't burning (rods) you ain't earning
@@johndowe7003 yeah, working on that now. TIG is my passion, but still work on stick and MIG holding stinger or gun with left hand. I always practice using both hands because I have gotten into situations where I could not use my right. Thanks for the tip.
@@jrcicirello no problem, youll be successful with enough practice
Excellent viewer suggested question.
Watching a sort of military personality with a veteran fitter is a dang good mix. Fitters. Always full of something.
The best thing about this channel is they cater for all levels of welder…and comedian. Though very interesting the welding was well beyond my weekend warrior's apprentice level, but the comedy was spot on.
Like the soft edge mask between images, nice overlap...banter between you two is outstanding... Cheers
Great team funny dudes thanks
Informative
All the best to you guys
Good educational with humor
Great stuff
Absolutely loving the upinsmoke welding jacket. !!!!! Iw all day
I use to do that all day back in the day. I really miss my welding years
Great video, too funny as well! TY
Cracking video plus having a good time always entertaining 😉👍
Already excited for this. Thanks for posting more with this guy, y’all always post quality content!
Oh, we had some fun with this one
This is great, awesome arc shots too
I enjoyed that.
Trevor, the perfect timing for a viewer submitted comment!
We in Chicago always call it what it is
You guy's in Chicago need to tell your Governor that . 😃
You guys make me want to go weld. thanks.
Ol brian!!! Good dude!!
Nothing against the Man Cub, but it's good to see you again Jason
Good job guys!
The Ego flys the highest when your that good.
You guys are awesome 🇦🇺
I just failed 2 B pressure tests in 1 month! felt really good, I now cannot test again for 90 days and need 24 hours of practice shown or a B pressure upgrade course. AGain, Felt SO good
You don't learn unless you make mistakes
You guys make welding funny. I dont do commerical pipe welding , the pipe work I do is mainly artistic stainless or aluminum. I grind 45° , tack 12 , 3 , 6 , 9 then root. But on the fill I use 2 or 3 rods together and burn it in lay wire technique. Now I don't know if that's allowed for proper pipe work but it works for me
I was often required to grind the bevel @ 37&ahalf° why such a precise angle? 45° was too wide and 30° was too narrow so they told me to get it in the middle. Yeah halfway between 30 & 45°
I just lose it at 14:57 about ( I need a donuts !!! ) 🤣🤣🤣 CHeers !!!
Great video . I like the way he help explain it . Yes real good video guys thank you
I'm still laughing about that o-beam one liner lol they should show tinners next.
10:55 he says "soo, when have this large stick out" then pauses for effect, and i may have heard something else, i don't know. I'm not a welder so some of these terms aren't in my vocab. I did laugh so hard i didn't hear anything else until he talked about taking his puddle from coast to coast. These guys are great.
So funny when a pipefitter thinks he's a welding instructer 😄
I grew up with these kinda people wait till half a case a beer in gets better🤣🤣🤣
Come on by next filming session. We'll show you a good time 😜
6:38 "standard terms and definitions" 🤣🤣🤣
Ironworker! We need a 6G Schedule 80 structural pipe test. I'd love to see a FCAW T-8 wire with backing. Get a real set up though, power source with VS feeder, non of this, well we took the gas shield off this ESAB so you could see the weld puddle. I also think that you should continue your tours of the different union trades that weld, and get back to it with Piledrivers.
Great video!
Sorry, that should be Schedule 120 pipe.
19.05mm
This is way beyond my first year apprentice schooling, however I'd definitely want to do this anyway.
Pure gold boys. Don't be a hoser.
I really like this video.
I'VE ALWAYS RAN STRINGER BEADS AFTER THE(WEAVE)HOT PASS BECAUSE I'VE HEARD IT IS POSSIBLE BUT NOT LIKELY TO GET SUCK BACK ON THE ROOT PASS WHEN PUTTING IN THE 3RD PASS(FILL,WEAVE)BECAUSE OF THE HEAT(AMPS).
This is a valuable video, thanks for making it! But am I the only one that wondered why there was the sound of rod tinging against pipe throughout the whole video? Even when they were welding and not tinging the filler metal on the pipe.
What is the name of the tool you use the get the degrees on the bevels
A grinder in skilled hands will do it if you don't have a bevel cutter
Really enjoyed this vid
You guys should be brothers.
That fitter fluff is protection when your laying in a HRSG unit on heat stress chicklet wires and they decide to arc off
Love the video, it was fun
Hilarious with great info...
Does walking the cup have the potential to cause a test failure from small pieces of the cup getting into the weld? An instructor at school told me that, and I've never heard anyone else talk about it since. I'm about a year into welding and use 1/8 inch 7018 daily at work, but I'd like to make the big bucks one day...so I watch these videos.
Noooope
I mean yea if you chip the cup lol
Food service stainless can't have any scratches, some other applications like aerospace where the abrasions can lead to pitting or cracking also don't allow walking the cup. Freehand only in some shops.
@@TrollworksForge Thank you. I'm building my skills in order to get into welding in the aerospace field.
One of my instructors taught me to walk the cup without the cup touching the metal
Great video, thank you very much for your time and input. Very much appreciate the help you and guidance.please may I ask, is the root pass also done by tig welding process?
Yes, we did the root pass here: ruclips.net/video/ZzOBSRyqvWw/видео.html
Where's Bob Maffet for the extra funny jokes? Good vid love weld.com
Can you make a video about mig welding aluminium without spoolgun and show us the optimal settings ( volts and wire feed speed ) and techniques , please 🙂
You guys are amazing. The two of you are my favorite on the channel. Love the vibe. THAT'S what takes the nerves out of welding right before a big test or critical weld. I have an honest, real question. I just graduated from welding school and passed the AWS 6G GTAW unlimited test (GTAW all the way out). I am looking to possibly go into the pipe fitters union. I currently live in FL but want to move out to CO. I don't want my certs to lapse and can't move to CO for another year. The main question is: as an apprentice welder, would I be able to transfer from FL to CO if I was in the middle of an apprenticeship? Or would I have to stay in FL until the apprenticeship is over and I have my book? Thank you in advance for your time.
I've never seen someone tig the bottom. That would have been interesting to watch.
Best welding ever.👍
i have no experience whatsoever in tig welding or any other type of welding for that matter, im just about to start training for smaw, but i just want to ask about the tungsten rod do use it like butter knife spreading the melted filler metal especially with the walking the cup method? thanks.
very good vid!
UT and Phased Array are a bit different. Phased Array is a type of UT.
Why does it need multiple passes? Please somebody explain!
The bartender yells "Order another keg and 1000 chicken wings!"
The 18 Dislikes are from Ironworkers themselves!😂
Nice work camera guy.
The other blokes weren’t bad either.
end pun I'll give it a 2.2/10. Bryan is awesome and would love to get a lesson or 5 from him.. I'll bring extra doughnuts
Where are yall out of? Im thinking about going to school for pipefitting
Love the SWAG
I thought there was going to be a fight.
As a fat Pipefitter I concur!
That pecker track at 1:47 will get your money if the QC had a fight with his ole lady last night
Why do you snap the arc off like that?
Assuming they're using lift arc/scratch start, which is what most pipe welders use in the field, they snap out like that to avoid leaving a pore in the crater. They take the arc up to the bevel of the pipe, and then snap out.
Maybe just me because I have always used a foot pedal, but that arc termination and yanking the torch away with no post flow coverage on the hot weld makes me cringe. Not saying this is wrong in any way if you are using scratch start or something, there's really no other way to terminate the weld. However, for anyone learning to weld, you will find a big advantage in slowly terminating your arc to avoid star cracks and keeping the hot metal and rod in the gas will make your restart much easier because the metal will flow properly. Thy kind of touched on this when talking about stainless and such, but it's a good habit to get in especially if you start welding some higher alloy stuff or reactive metals. Again, not sure what was used for amperage control, so not knocking anything in the video, just pointing out for anyone beginning to weld, avoid doing that if you can.
If you fill the end with more filler rod you don’t really ish have to do a slow termination.
@@Mikey-ym6ok
It's not about leaving a crater, post flow is important because your weld puddle is still fluid enough to be contaminated by the atmosphere, if you terminate the weld by pulling away, then you are removing your shielding gas.
@@tubeonline629 this exactly. Why not give it a few seconds of post flow and hold the torch there. I'm assuming we all want to make the best weld as possible, so just take this little extra time and do it the best you can.
I've spent a lot of time welding titanium and zirconium, so it's a habit for me to leave my rod in the gas and make sure to shield the hot weld. I've also welded a good amount of inconel and other nickel alloys that will form a crack everytime if you terminate the weld to quickly. It's all habit for me, but I think it's a good one to have if you ever plan on welding anything other than carbon steel. Even on carbon steel, everytime I restart my weld I don't want to have to deal with all the crap floating in my puddle and fighting with it to flow properly.
seen alot of welds bust x Ray using 5/32 filler from LOF
guy walks into shop... looking for a sheet of 3/32 a sheet of 1/8 a sheet of 4.5mm... but all they have is 11 gauge, Hot rolled high tensile strength... hmm? well 3/32 7018 is good for welding the slightly rusty exhaust on the car! made some 2.5 inch exhaust flanges out of that sheet... ... if i were to step back in time, 1974 and using a 110 volt ac buzz box running 3/32 6011... i would be working, but now there's all this new equipment. :(
next video is them holding hands
It's all in the wrist
They look like they work for Be&K
Welders are just assholes in any shop hahaha I loved watching this 😂
What's the welding hood with the flag? What company?
Awesome video am saving up for a engine driven and a tig welder soon!
It's from Outlaw Leather
Cap at 175-180
Local 433, Ironworkers from Las Vegas!
lol jokes
can you tig without argon with fluxcore mig stainless
wire
I doubt it
That welder is extremely extremely slow
Brian’s a better welder even if he’s heavier.
Hahah. What’s the new guys name?
