So, in the post credits scene of Black Adam we see a drone fly down and project a live hologram of Viola Davis’s Amanda Waller. You’ll remember her from the Suicide Squad films, both the good one and the bad one. As well as Peacemaker. [clip]
She’s essentially threatening Black Adam that he is not to set foot outside his country of Khandaq or there will be consequences. To which Black Adam says… [clip, no one on this planet can stop me]
And then in walks Superman, more specifically, Henry Cavill’s Superman. We can hear the classic Richard Donner Superman theme. [clip, example.]
Now before we get into Superman and explaining the next phase of the DCEU, we have to talk about the outsizeed role Aanda Waller has now, in this universe. Everyone agreed that Viola Davois was perfect casting, and one of the shining stars of the Suicidd Squad-so it’s great she’s been given a more active role in this universe. Originally, it seemed like she was only in charge of the Suicide squad, the governemnt’s answer to the Justice League.
But now it’s apparent that she is more of a Nick Fury character, assembling heroes into her own team. Task Force X might be the dispensable, black ops team. But the Justice society is the public team, filled with do-gooding heroes like Dr Fate and Iron-I mean Hawkman. Waller also commands a massive task force X black ops facility where superhuimans are kept in cold storage. [show broll of fortress inquistorius in obi wan]. And that’s where we got our super cool cameo form Peacemaker’s Harcourt.
What’s ibntersteding about this is that waller doesn;t seem to have any control over the Justice League. He and bruce wayne have met, and have reached a mutual understanding to stay out of each others way [suicide squad post credits scene]. But the end of justice league made it obvious that bruce wayne was founding this organization in his family’s home, and that he runs this show [a big table, with chairs].
And by the way, I love how the DCEU has just sort of said, screw it, there are lots of other heroes in this universe, and we’re not going to explain their origins.” They’ve basically ruched ahead to where the MCU is now, where new powered people can pop up and we accept it [Titania broll]. Waller has formed her own team of heroes, because she can;t control do-gooders like classic Superman.
And speaking of classic Superman, Cavil is now sporting Supes signature spit-curl as well a new suit that is a deep royal blue. And behind his “S” [clip, it’s not an “S”]
We can see the gold color is no longer desaturated, it really pops. We think this is a visual representation that this Superman's origin story is now complete. And he has officially come into his own as the THE Superman we know and love.
Doug: Origin story? He’s played Superman like three times before this.
That’s right, but, in each of those films Clark was still learning who he was. Let me take just a minute to explain the arc of Henry Cabvill’s superman, then we can talk about Black Adam-and this new superman’s place in the DCEU going forward.
See, in the Snyder movies, Superman was still figuri0ng out who he was meant to be. We saw something similar done in the MCU with the Spider-Man “Home Trilogy.”
That trilogy was one big origin story. Three films showcasing Peter Parker becoming the Spider-Man we know and love. Which I really appreciate. Becoming an iconic superhero such as Spider-Man or Superman takes time. [clip]
Cavill’s first film, Man of Steel, focused on Clark discovering where he came from. Learning about his powers and what responsibility should come with those powers. [clip, with great power comes great responsibility.]
Man of Steel also showed us how pivotal Ma and Pa Kent were to Clark becoming the man he is. [clip]
The next film, Batman v. Superman, was about Clark determining what role he as Superman was supposed to play in society. He alone was strong enough to rule the entire planet with an iron fist.

I went in to this movie with low expectations and mainly just wanted to see post credits cavill. Ended up actually really enjoying the film. Hopefully people don't let the critic reviews scare them away from seeing it
One critic said they didn’t like it cuz it had “endless action scenes”
And they are right. I felt like I couldn’t breath until the end of the film. It went from one fight to the next in almost no time at all. Which kinda hurt the “regular human plot”. Not gonna lie. The Demon shit was cool as fuck.
I really enjoyed it too. Once Black Adam shows up, the movie kicks into gear.

@@BotBehavior let DC do things it's own way. They are not copying Marvel, I actually enjoyed the movie. There was a good 20 min intermission to get the breathing room 😂
If all goes well, Black Adam VS Superman fight can be one of the most iconic superhero fight scenes of all time

I can see Dr Fate coming back in some way, maybe not even the Dr Fate from the movie but someone else picking up the mantle.
Or rather The Flash created Flashpoint timeliness will change Dr.Fate's die and revive. Who know.

Superman will beat Adam
Superman owed Amanda because she saved him from Bloodsport. In The Suicide Squad BS was in jail because he shot SM with a kryptonite bullet. Amanda probably used her resources to save him.

already died in his first movie (because he did, did he?) will remove any threat from the equation: we already know he can't die just yet (similar to what happened with Black Widow's movie; no matter what happens in there, Natasha will be safe, "cause she'll be in IW in the future).

Just saw Black Adam on HBO max and it was actually good. I enjoyed it very much and is one of the very few DC movies that I enjoyed besides Shazam and Michael Keaton’s Batman!

So glad Cavill is back. I grew up with Reeves Superman. But Henry’s is just perfect to be. When he’s in the suit, I don’t see the actor Henry Cavill, I see Superman. And that is really rare for me having worked in film for 10+ years. I rarely see characters over the actors playing them.
Tyler Hoechlin is my superman but Henry's movies didn't do well because of the writter and directors. Not him, nor his portrayal. He did a decent job with what he was given. However the writting of the character, his story, and the relationship between him and Lois is superior in 'Superman and Lois'
That series made me enjoy the character outside of the animate universe
I though Brandon Routh did a good job as well and he even resembled Christopher Reeve.
I think Jennifer Holland's inclusion was more to signify that they've gone with James Gunn's version of the DCEU. Definitely violent, but not so dark and grim as Snyder wanted to portray. And even in the Gunn version of the Suicide Squad, and later Peacemaker, there are lots of heroes and villains already in the world, and they have been for years, like Atom Smasher being a legacy hero. That definitely wasn't the case in the Snyder/Aeyer universe.
Yeah, in 2011 people were surprised by a superhero like Superman. But since then, a lot of superheroes just showed up. The DCEU is so broke hahaha. Barely anything makes sense.

@@parkeranimations3671 Snyders was grim and dark, accompanied by muted color pallets. Gunns was violent, but way more colorful and full of humor (you know, like an action movie).
@@Ragnar______ it's not about what made more money, it's abut what world is easier tell stories. Besides, the Snyder films didn't make money either. In the Snyder Films there are no other heroes and villains, in Black Adam for example we see that there are heroes who have been openly operating for decades, same with Suicide Squad and Peacemaker.
It's fine if you like the Snyder movies, but they are grim, dark and muted. That's not clearly not the direction they want to go in, if they did Superman would have been wearing the Black suit, not the deep royal blue one.

I like how these later DC movies sort of gloss over establishing super-people. Like in Black Adam and the Suicide Squad we get legacy characters. We get Ratcatcher II, Atom Smasher, and a different iteration of Cyclone. All of them have a predecessor that gets very little explaining, and I appreciated it alot

It makes no sense when you showed the world not being used to Superman just a few years ago. The universe is clearly not one with superhumans in it. It’s just lazy writing

In Shazam we saw Freddy geeking out over superheroes. The rest of the world was fairly onboard too if you consider the toys in the mall
So the Shazam side of the DCEU where Black Adam takes place is atleast publicly aware

A lot has and can change in that time, like superheroes or villains coming into the picture and dying and replaced by the second wave. Not lazy writing at all. I'd see Amanda Waller in DCEU is more similar to Zemo in the MCU. They still want to save the world, and they will try to be resourceful and collaborative if they see it fit their agenda. But they also do not hesitate to cross the line of morale, just for the sake of their belief and mission.
Amanda Waller is more like Nick Fury than Zemo

I have a feeling the JS A will fight the JL ordered by Waller. Though they will eventually work together to stop a bigger threat, which as u say might be the legion of Doom. who were in stasis in the underwater facility in the Black Adam movie.
Also I don't think it's about waller having dirt on supes. I think it's just her calling in the league to help with big threats. She called them in for Peacemaker. Plus Bruce met with her to get the files to put together the league. He told her end task force x cuz he's putting together a superhero team that'll help who aren't criminals lol. The league is operating with waller to make the world a safer place

I liked the inclusion of showing how Black Adam killed the other wizards leaving only the one.
And we can argue that he was imbued with more magical forces than Billy is. Adam had like 8 wizards grant him their power. lol. Billy does not.

I agree, but we all know now that isn't going to happen. WBs is broke and can't afford the great actors & actress they already have. Hints the reboot from James Gunn. Firing all the older cast to replace them all with actors & actresses that will take less pay. That's also the reason WBs isn't removing Amber Teard from Aquaman 2 or Ezra Miller from Flash Point. WBs can't afford to pay to reshoot their parts in the movies. If Amber Teard is in Aquaman 2 I will not goto the theater to see the movie. I'll just wait and watch via the net for free. No not movie service like Disney+.
Dude, I just saw Black Adam wow for me it’s an A+ superhero film! I have no complaints. It even bested the last Thor. Supes cameo made me smile from ear to ear!
The best thing about the post credit scene was Superman's suit. It is finally truly BLUE! Not the lackluster flat blue from MoS. Not the dark, shiny steel underneath looking suit from BvS. A true-blue, eye-popping colorful royal blue that fans have been waiting for. That and the yellow on the red "S" emblem made this by far the best suit to date. We only saw it from the waist up so I can only pray that it also sports the red trunks to make it absolutely perfect.

Thank you for finally pointing it out that everything Snyder did was a long origin story for some characters and story arc for others. We're always too quick to judge a movie based on our foundation of what we expect thing to be. Sometimes a little twist and turn makes things interesting if it tracks back to the source materials.

Could that Superman be the Earth 2 Superman? With Dr. Fate and The Justice Society in this film, it could have been an earth 2 story with a different Superman? Could Amanda Waller's world be Earth 2 and not part of the JLA? and then the big movie could be CRISIS!

While I am very happy about Henry Cavill's return as Superman and DC/Warner being committed to restoring the character to greatness, Black Adam's conflict should be with Shazam. But i'll shang in there to see where they are going with this

Man, a JL/Suicide Squad/Shazam/Black Adam Crossover where they fight Waller’s legion would be INCREDIBLE! Maybe then we could sort of have that Legion film Snyder teased and who knows? Maybe Darkseid shows up at the end setting up final crisis or something idk. Intergang could easily tie in here as well

Ezra's character was called the Flash for the first time in DCEU in this movie which happened after CW crossover, Grant telling him about the name etc. Good chance it's cannon so he might show up

Great video as always! I just got back from seeing the movie and I have to say I enjoyed it. It did feel that there was either something cut out something left in that made some of the context weird. I look forward to seeing it again in a few months to see if it's still as fun!

The problem with WB is that they want to catch up with marvel and that is impossible because they are just starting. They need to take time and think their projects through and eventually rival marvel.

Being overly analytical and critical of everything doesn't make you smarter or better than anyone.
If you hated this movie you dislike fun.
Not everything has to be Shakespeare or Hamlet.
We have game of thrones for that.
And that's not to say Black Adam didn't have a coherent story. Being easy to follow doesn't it make it less of anything.
It wasn't multilayered or award winning, it was straight to the point and introduced Adam for what he is.
Even tho he killed terrorists he was still battling between being an anti hero (killing bad people) and not killing.
And People complaining about the kid are ridiculous. Kids can't be in comic book movies? The fuck.

Also off topic but I love how harley Quinn is the rick grimes of the suicide squad. When I say "she can't die" I don't mean she's immortal but I mean that she's the main important person the story has and we see the story/plot unfold at her point of view in behalf ofc.. In the comics she's been on so many suicide missions with many suicide squads and has been in many missions with many characters from DC(My fav being Blackburn). And I wish the snyderverse was perfectly suppose to end.. everyone thinks the main villain or the thanos version of the DCEU is Darkseid.. I get it since all the evidence and visions and stuff involve him... but snyder confirmed that his DCEU vision of his movies is based on the injustice story. I still believe superman will become the main villain for the whole DC universe despite Darkseid and the antimoniter or even trygon. I love snyder's version because he does so much homework and reads lots of these comics be4 he puts it on screen. Also.. lots of ppl didn't notice but in the snyder cut, at the end we see an Asian Dr. And we hear him be called by the name "Ryan Choi" which is the DC version of Ant-Man named Atom. We've already seen Atom Smasher now I wanna see Atom!!

Why are we not talking about the role Shazam/the Shazam family are gonna play in this universe going forward when they’re literally just as powerful as Black Adam (and their movie was much better but that’s beside the point).
I was just disappointed they made Black Adam borderline hero/anti hero rather than taking a more darker path and descending into anti hero/villain.

DC should just let James Gunn pick the villains from now on. Starro and the Butterflies were great, but I'm sure he would have some good ideas as to who should fight who elsewhere in the DCEU.
