Low ambition is the current morale, you are in the red in 3 base categories (food, water, beds) the morale will fall to the floor. The thing you need to look for is how will he/she perform, choose the best one they can work in and get your base in the blue and the morale will go up and the first part of the bio will say "they are full of enthusiasm" on all of them. So pick and chose who you want to keep and send off the rest, but ambition is a falls-positive, only performance mater to your base performance. And at the time best vanilla castaways you will get are ether "perform poorly" (worst one) or "not very well" (next tier), you ether need to find better staff or train them. I say find ones with biggest spread of "not well" performing jobs so you can shuffle them around if needed and get some empty slots for new castaways to find better abilities.
Thanks to you my friend I just managed my first B ranking (in base defence). The amount of survivors I sent on doomed missions though :) I did rename my survivors initially, but something glitched and it renamed Dan and Nicholas too and couldn't edit them back. Thankfully it fixed after the weekly reset, but it scared me enough I don't rename them anymore. Currently sitting on 22 people with either positive or modest so over halfway there. Oh, and the final fantasy backing...nice touch! You're my kind of gamer! Keep up the good work!
:) the name glitch is because all survivors share the same file ID as the unique characters like reeve and miranda. If the name glitches dont worry about it, its happened to me quite a few times. Always resets itself. (Im also guessing you have 2 character slots?)
Ha ha, I was cursing your name until I realised it reset 😂 I'd labeled people to be sent on doomed missions as "togo" as in they were to go. Suddenly they were all called "Togo"! Just the one character slot here. I'm not dedicated enough to run multiple chars! Just my one guy armed with bayonet spear running in like it's Dynasty warriors (yes, I'm one of those guys). Honestly, you're one of the few content providers to post stuff I hadn't worked out myself already. Super helpful! If you're ever short a 4th man on PS4, hit me up :)
Quick comment about defense rating: It doesn't add to your base defense, it _multiplies_ the defense value of everything you build (so it doesn't help that stat if you don't have anything built), while simultaneously _dividing_ the enemy numbers, meaning that it's helpful even if you're defending in person.
I would just like to point out that you do not have to kill your low ambitious characters. If they give you missions to do out in the world and you do enough missions, their enthusiasm goes up. I have all my characters performing well because of those. So when new containers show up, animals quests show up, or singularity mining quests show up, complete those.
1). the morale for MB in MGSV wasn't from the pummeling its cause they saw you and saluted. even if you interrupted the salute(or stopped it right before hand(no animation) they still get the morale boost. 2). you can check the condition of your survivors by the banner on their name. Good vids though keep it up :)

I am thinking employment history only matters if you wish for S rank teams. My medical and development teams are hitting S rank on occasion despite not being maxed (i.e. 4 of the 5 have full of enthusiasm, best results). I maxed my food team but never hit S rank. when I checked, this team has 2 culinary researchers. where as my medical and dev team both have 5 different job histories?
how did you get 30 members? ive tried everything i cleared the entire base of side quests twice slept in a tent some more and cleared every quest again and got nothing but container has washed up quests or rare animal
You dont even have to complete the sidequests, just accept them and if they dont give you a distress signal then simply sleep to the next day and accept all the new quests they have. Rinse and repeat untill they give you signals. Just note though that africa can also have signals so make sure to go to your FoB and accept those quests aswell.
I have slept a lot, spent days real time making him sleep back to back then checking and nothing not one. I beat the game and bosses, base dig 2. Am i missing something?
In case you missed it, it's a bad game. Don't expect mechanics to be fleshed out or work any way other than randomly. Knowing Konami it's likely that you can only get a certain number of crew members over so much time. Not in game time, but real time. The whole game is build around the idea of impossibly slow progression and living off of scraps... unless you pay money that is.
eventually in the story when virgil says you have 12 days to kill lord of dust does that have to do with the number of days your character survived under your stats or can you keep playing forever?
is it even possible to get A ranks on your teams? I'm currently going through this, naming my useful crew as a random animal name with 1-6 depending on where they are useful, I'm running 24 atm over various teams but still only got C ranks all across the board
Yep, im currently B across the board and keep dipping to A rank for dev but that is constantly fluctuating. Need a few more manuals for a stable A rank.

i started to do the process that you talked about as in naming the ones that would perform poorly or would not perform very well and named them bad n put them in no assignment and put the ones that would yield modest results in the category that they would well yield modest results in... but i barely started then the production status update ticked in and one of my ones that would yield modest results changed to would not perform very well... starting to think that there is no rhyme or reason to anything that the crew management says... hope i can start a conversation
Motivation plays a fraction of a part, its possible your modest results was just bairly modest (Like 1-2 points above not very well) but i would say the main reason is his trait, for example one that likes doing all things. for somebody like that even if hes modest in something i kill them off because it requires you to constantly switch him around to different groups to keep him at modest
I think when some1 dies the overall morale also drops. i had everything on blue ,including beds/etc all team in C rank and after doing the killing overall morale droped almost to the bottom. (and yes i have most of my team members in the best position(modest results people)
You would have seen a B rank had i known that rescuing survivors over the 30 cap removes your oldest survivors. i lost 6 dev team positives this way which lowered me down. There are also some screenshots of less than legitimate methods on PC of people with A ranks.
How long does it take to get rid of these useless idiots??? I've sent them out over 5 times with nothing and hit all the way down to 0 percent chance of succeeding, and they still come back. I gave up and logged off game, came back next day and their survival rate shot up to 27% I don't give them food,weapons, or gear. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Does it normally take this long to get rid of them?
Your assumption that nicholas is best in food supply is wrong. Hes best in base defense. If you put nicholas and Reeve in exploration team and check their stats for a hunt, you see they both have the same offensive rating of 63.
that does NOT mean they are the best for it. It simply means they have an exploration rating of 63. for example i have a survivor who has 57 in exploration but when in that unit it has poor results.
TacticsTechniques&Procedures zero risk security is a South African. PMC that is "not as hardcore as the other PMC's in the region." As they "mostly specialize in security work". They also have a similar uniform to Nick, who also has what looks to me like their emblem on his sleeve. I think nick, finding himself with a bunch of random PMC types decided it would be safer and easier to just call himself a cop instead of getting his career as a merc. oh yea, even at 30 you can still get distress signals. If you rescue somebody when you're already full it gets rid of your oldest crew member (So for example survivor 31 would replace survivor 01) so be careful when rescuing. litteraly half of my staff would perform poorly in every damn team and also i seem to get like 1 to 2 distress signal missions every 3 or four days, how the hell am i supposed to build the team?
I answer this exact question in the video... you need to kill the poor ones off in the exploration team and continue recruiting new staff. i have a video out showing how to farm distress signals very quickly btw. It takes time yes but is more than worth it. I currently have almost all 30 at moderate after a week of on and off farming. My team is also almost all B rank now.

Its because they all share the same unique code as the special characters, for example all those shitters who just go straight to exploration have the same file ID as seth
it WONT replace somebody rubbish. It replaces them in the order you obtained them (Not counting uniques like reeve and miranda) for for example Survivor 31 will replace survivor 01 and 32 will replace 02. This is very easy to test. Simply name all your survivors 1-2-3 ect in the order you find them and you'll see.

Why don't they just let you remove survivors at will. They did in metal gear five

and no one in his team got injured... although he did barely drop motivation maybe motivation is huge in how they would perform
