Axel The Mango lol when she said the baboon you should have seen the WTF look on my face. It was somewhere between a deer frozen in the headlights and that’s The stupidest shit I’ve seen all day look. Then she was like just kidding. She got me.
@@tropicaltrucker4425 well said!!👍👍 i truly wish more people who are interested in owning an exotic pet actually does the research finds out what they're in for what the real requirements of care are Etc this is the number one cause why where I live in the u.s. it is now absolutely 100% not safe to handle or touch any snake that you are not 110% certain of its identity and even then it used to be when I was a kid we used to catch black rats and put them in the basement to deal with the real rats or I catch one and keep it as a pet for the summer I got my oldest son over his fear of snakes the Black rat snakes now terrifyingly enough you hear things like a case that happened several years back in Baltimore where a couple of young boys were playing with a snake they had found didn't know it was well it turned out to be a gaboon pit viper in South Baltimore! It was nothing short of a miracle and probably the snake had been handled before and wasn't truly afraid and skittish around humans so neither child got bitten or even more horrifying I was walking home from work in Glen Burnie Maryland and saw a very bizarre snake zip across the road ahead of me upon getting closer and seeing the snake I guess felt cornered whatever became aggressive and to my literal horror need backing the hell up I recognized it cuz I just watched a show about him at lunch time that night it was a freaking Taipan!! No s*** unfortunately Animal Control was forced to kill the snake because well honestly they simply did not have the experience for the means to safely capture said snake and I know that the lady felt bad but I can't blame her because that snake bit you the nearest Danny Phantom Dade County Florida and ultimately from what I if what I heard was correct that snake was loose because it was an exotic pet that the owner had released it for whatever reason. Now that's a tragedy.
Hi I'm thinking of getting a Metallica as a first tarantula. Cuz its the prettiest. Would you recommend this or not. It would be an observational pet? It would be a sling. What do you think??
I just got the chaco golden knee as my first tarantula! I know she isnt as flashy as others you listed, but she is super docile and sweet. loves getting her exercise. I had arachnophobia for 25 years until I held my first tarantula. Now I am in love, and obsessed. Thanks for this video!
hey, i got chaco golden knee, too! (was my 2nd, first was curly hair"). lil golden knee i named Goldilocks. held her yesterday, first on my glove then onto my hand. she is less than 2 inches, but so far quite docile!
Wow , those are some really good suggestions. I'm amazed the Aphonopelma Chalcodes wasn't on the list. Impressed to say the least. Thanks for this vid ^^
Sorry i know, old video, but what about the Chilean Rose Hair? Mine just died after about 27 years and I'm looking for another just as or more docile. Probably the Mexican Red Knee. I haven't decided yet. Just curious of your thoughts. Great videos by the way!
Hi! I love all your video's, you know a lot about all of your animals. I own a mexican fireleg (Brachypelma Boehmeii). Do you have one of those? Are you getting most of your spiders as slings or as adults? Greetings from the Netherlands, Lidwine
Thanks so much for posting this. My son wants a tarantula...I've let him have just about every other creature but was a little hesitant with spiders. (I don't kill them but I prefer them outside) lol. Watching your videos has made me much more comfortable. Thanks!
Those enclosures in the background look handmade, are they? If so how did you make them? If I were to make a tarantula enclosure could I use a Tupperware storage tub? Any information would be greatly appreciated :)
Cant remember if I commented before thanks for the video that you did you were one of the first youtubers on Tarantulas I ever watched now I have over 125 or so different species most are Old World just love their crazy ways lol keep up the AWESOME videos
I'm surprised to see an arboreal species up on your top 5 list. A lot of them tend to have moods, but what suits your opinion suits it. I'm so happy to see a G. Pulchripes on here. I have one and he is the sweetest T I have ever met. scared of earbuds and does the Pulchripes buttwalk, but a sweety nonetheless. What's your opinion on the Curly hairs? Plenty I've held and seen, all real docile but I'd like to hear your opinion on the floofs.
I am planning on getting some Brachypelma albopilosum. I like them, but it has been years since I have kept any:) I don't mind the personality of arboreals, I enjoy them for their beauty:)
Thank you for your top 5 opinion. I think I will use your advice. The Red Knee has been my thought for a first pet tarantula for a while now. Would you recommend a female or male?
Quick Q Marita, in your opinion, do you think T's are capable to bond with owners, and do you think they get used to being handled, or at least become more relaxed the more you handle them (i.e. they get used to the motions of you moving them around)? Thanks :) Great video as always!
+iKd0tP I do not believe they can bond. I believe to a certain point they can recognize people, correlating, size, smell, vibration of voice and other factors we may not know about. They can be trained a bit and that would make them less likely to bite, although I would say if you are going to handle, expect to get bit. They are more a pet for viewing rather than holding:)
hi there. this may sound a little loopy but because i have a huge fear of tarantulas i have bought myself one. the one i have was accidentaly mistaken for another, i wanted euathlus sp red but pretty sure ive got euathlus parvulus. im just wondering if you could tell me a little about this species if you know. many thanks :)
I know the GBB (I use it's common name since it's the only species in its genus) can be a bit skittish, but I adore how much they web and their gorgeous coloration; though exactly how handable do you think they are averagely? I know it differs on individuals but just an idea.
Jackson Wang Can Slay Me I'm not her but GBB are known to be skiddish and I've heard pretty fast. They also can kick hairs. I've heard they are better to look at. Some people hold them just keep in mind they can be very fast.
Handleability is limited with them, but they are not prone to bite. I don't handle mine, but if one rushes out onto my hand during feeding, I don't worry about getting bitten, I just worry about them not falling..
@ Deadly Tarantula Girl, in your opinion, what is generally the most docile/doesn't mind being handled T, beginner T's? And would assuming that arboreal T's for a beginner isn't recommended if handling is desired? I owned a Rose Hair about a decade ago, but unfortunately during a heavy rainstorm it got out and my father (rest his soul) who was deathly afraid of spiders and took a mop to it because he claimed it was chasing him. I want there so I can't speak on it.
LOL!! : in all honesty pre-homework today "o.b.t." Was my very 1st choice ♥️ it looks so dreamy (I've a thing for orange) Question : do you have a suggestion for one that prowls a lot (active) im not interested in holding. Just got worried today when I asked about my 2nd choice and breeder said: "it's like having a pet hole" is there one that would prowl a lot if I made it a really nice habitat in a 30gallon aquarium ? Limbs/and trees?...or are they all mostly just ..."Corner dwellers"?
Love your video! For some reason certain species creep me out but others not so much. Maybe its phycological but the patterns of a Mexican red knee scare me but Thailand Black doesnt. Also what are your thoughts on the Palamino Blonde?
Hi! Love the video, but I’m curious about your #1 pick. I’m getting a b emilie and I was wondering how you would compare the two. It’s my first tarantula and I couldn’t be more excited!
Thank you for this video. Even though it's a little old, I got a lot out of it. I am new to the hobby and happy to say that I just got a red rump sling recently.
I've been watching videos about spiders for like a week now. And when I started I felt uncomfortable. You know those shivers they give you. But now...only a week after...I don't feel any shivers :DD and I kind of like them C: but I will still be freaked out by those little, scary black spiders like Tegenaria, Phalangium opilio (I know it's not a spider) and all those small spiders you can find at home...these are my nightmare :DDD but spiders like this..I find them cute :3 especially those Peacock spiders :D Great video C:
Thank you so much and I am glad to hear you are losing your fear. Sounds like you have been researching arachnids. The more you learn the less you will fear:)
I'm considering getting a tarantula in the future and am currently thinking of either a GBB(C. Cyaneopubescens) or a PZB(E. Campestratus). From what I've read and seen I was a bit surprised none of them were featured on the list. I take with the GBB it's because it's not generally a handling tarantula as they tend to be a bit skittish (glorious webbing and colouring, though and they seem to be one of the easiest to take care of). With the PZB I saw its cousing got an honorable mention, any particular thoughts about why it didn't? Or just a case of list overcrowding and of this spider apparently not being as common?
+Vile Lasagna The only reason campestratus was not mentioned is I have never kept one so I have no experience with them. These videos are on the animals I know about:)
Loved the video Maria! My B. Smithi is quite a jumpy specimen, so I don't hold it now. After helping it through the first enclosure transfer where I got hairs kicked on me just for opening a lid, It's really cool to see some examples of T's that will accept being handled :) can't wait to see more videos!
These are all good choices for beginners. I am looking at my first spider soon, and although I would like to be able to handle them, it's not a must have, beauty comes before that. I wouldn't start with one of course, but for me, the king of them all is the T Blondi bird eater. I also like the baboons too, if you're looking for a spider that's just to look at and observe. You can learn a LOT through observing your spider, even if you cannot handle them, you can learn so much from them. I remember when I held my first t, she was a stunning G Rosea. This local farm place would get her out for me whenever I went lol. we got to know each other I swear, me and Rosie lol. That's when I got into spiders. Everyone would stand around in shock and awe that I was 'brave' enough to do it lol. I'd sit there on the floor with her on my arm, she'd walk across my back and down my other arm. She had to be the most docile spider ever. These videos really help eradicate irrational phobias like Arachnophobia and help stop people killing these creatures. I am the house spider rescuer in my house, husband is scared of them but won't admit it, so how he will cope with one of these guys when I get one I don't know lol. Great video, liked and subbed x
Do you have to hold pet tarantulas? Small house spiders and garden spiders kinda scare me. Tarantulas, being much bigger and not randomly showing up in my bathroom, have always fascinated me. But I do not think I would want to hold it often or for long periods of time. Is it OK to have a tarantula and not handle them often?
Absolutely. In fact, they prefer it. It's not a tarantula's first choice to be petted and cuddled by their humans but some species are pretty good sports about it. You should be prepared to at least catch one in a net if they make a break for it but most keepers never touch their T's.
Handling is generally not recommended for tarantulas. Some do handle theirs and to each their own, but no - there's no need to ever handle a tarantula. I've only handled one of mine (consider myself a beginner but have read about and kept tarantulas for a few years now and currently own 15 individuals) because she wouldn't stay in her enclosure once I opened it. She was super docile and just walked right out of her enclosure. They generally sit still or hide though.
+skylark I tried to raise some up, they all hit around one inch and died. I am not sure why. If I ever get the chance, I will get some adults and attempt to breed them:)
I want to buy one for my partner cuz he always wanted one but I'm still kinda clueless. Great video :) I love your channel, I wish your videos were longer!
I am considering doing longer vids. Just keep doing homework and you will know when you are ready to get a tarantula. I recommend starting with a spiderling that way you can learn about it as it grows:)
Deadly Tarantula Girl That's a good suggestion, I'll probably do that when I get one eventually. Yes longer videos would be great, I've learned so much from your channel so it's awesome.
I personally am not looking to hold mine but it would be a perk if there were a situation in which I would need to pick up the animal. Unfortunately I've heard so much controversial arguments that I've been reluctant to adopt one.
May I suggest the Grammostola rosea A.K.A Chilean rose hair tarantula. I'm intending to get this species, and I've learned a lot about them. They are docile from what i hear. A youtube channel I saw called howcast was a very helpful one. What do you think of the Chilean Rose hair?
Hey awesome Video. A few months ago I got my b. smithi and it is beautiful! I am planing on getting a tree tarantula, do you have a few recommendations? I really like P. regalis but I am unsure because they are so venomous.
My recommendation would be an Avicularia sp. If you are worried about the toxicity of the venom. You can always upgrade if you like arboreals and want a Poecilotheria:)
nice. i think #2 should be #1, just bc how often they flick hairs... I've got a crazy obt too, but what's odd is ive got a A. Genic we aptly named Jezebel, that is even crazier.... Lydia, a sister of hers, literally from the same sac, couldn't be more chill (most of the time). Like you said, It's all about personal experience with the individual T.
I have crazy respect for you! I love snakes and advocate for people to learn about how great they are, but I can't stand spiders. I'm trying more and more to respect them and love the creatures they are and it warms my heart to see someone have the respect you do for a creature not so often given that.
Never had issues with Az. blonds also. Had to laugh about the Babs. My nicest T back in the early 90's was a Colombian lesserblack tarantula (Xenesthis immanis) seriously. Still miss her today.
At about what size would a B. Smithi get its colors? Mine recently molted and now has about a 3-3.5" leg span (I raised it from 1/3"). However, other than some reddish hairs on the butt, it's still black, with no other orange coloration anywhere. It actually looks more like your B. Vagans. Just wondering how much longer I need to wait before I have a reasonable case regarding posting negative feedback on the seller. Thanks for any feedback you can provide, and thanks for your videos!
Great video! The most docile individual tarantula I have owned over the years was my Grammostola actaeon female. Next to her would be my Avicularia metallica but she does like to jump quite a bit lol
Deadly Tarantula Girl, what do you think of Aphonopelma Chalcodes? I got my Arizona desert blonde tarantula from Ken the Bug Guy. She's incredibly easy to care for, stunningly beautiful, and her temperament is cotton candy sweet. Plus, she comes right here in the USA! :)
Following , thank you for the great videos , I myself are tired of what others say they do or don't do with their T's Lol Looking Forward to watching more from you , Kat
I couldn't help but notice you didn't say Chilean rose hair do you have something against them I'm interested in your opinion please respond I just bought one, today was the first time he was mean I've had him for about 3 days
So happy you didn't toss up the g. Rosea. I've had several, some are ok, some literally act like an obt.. I'm quite against them being sold in common pet stores.
I just bought my first T! I decided to go with a Brachyperlma Klaasi. (Mexican pink) came today! Already in love. Came at an inch. Held it once. Was very docile. And I’m so so happy to bond with this little guy as he grows.
I've been out the trade for some years now and thinking about getting back into the hobby again. I sold all my t's a few years ago and only have 1 left now, ,22 years old G.Rosea from sling I raised her. I envy your collection and hope one day I can have at least half as many as you 😁
I've had a grammostola rosea for a about 10 years now and she is gorgeous and wonderful. You are most definitely more gorgeous and wonderful then she is ; )
No problem, you aren't the first to ask this question. The main reason I did not include Rose Hairs is I do not own one. The second reason was because it seems that they have been overcollected in the wild and the only way I would recommend this species is captive bred. Not a lot of people are having luck breeding this species. But they do fit the pet species parameters:)
I really love T's, and it's nice to see how much you really love them too, those animals deserve respect for their strenght and beauty By the way, I do plan to get one someday. The G. Pulchra will be my number one choice, I just love that species but I'm not sure about it. It would be my first Tarantula, and of course I've got no experience with these creatures. How do you feel about it? Would it be a good choice or not?
I agree with the listing, except I'd put G pulchra at first place, but that could be bias as this is my absolute fav species. Ooh and BTW "but you know, I'm a lil bit tougher than most people" that was cool and fun as heck but I like your reaction, I hate it when people buy a tarantula, feel the need to frequently handle it, then whine and decide to give it away if they get bitten.
Gramosthola Spathulata was my first. Thanx for metioning it! It was extremely docile as long as I didnt provoke it or make sudden moves. I saved it from certain death as it was crossing the street in the rush hour. It was the first time I actually grabbed a tarantula in my life and it was funny cause I didnt hesitate at all. I kept it untill he molted then I released him. It was already huge when I took it. The size of my hand - and Im 6 feet tall.
Why no mention of curly hair or pink zebra beauty?? They are by far more docile, handle-able and less likely to kick hairs than any of the top 5 you mentioned. Especially the mexican red knee. They are notorious for kicking hair.
I'm getting a B smithi soon at 1-1 1/2 inches and I was wondering what I should keep it in at this size since a container sounds to big yet a deli cup would be way to small. As well what would be a good substrate? I've heard of some but I don't know which to pick. And what could I use as a hide at this size? I've seen people use small plastic cups and such but I don't know if it would be adequate for a tarantula. As well how can you tell if they're ready to feed? Is it when their abdomen starts to get smaller or does something else chAnge similar to when they're ready to molt?
As well could I handle it at that size or should I wait til it gets bigger? And I've heard you should smash a crickets head because it makes it twitch when touched but it's not alive to hard your smaller tarantula. Should I do this or could it cause mental stress on the tarantula etc?
G. Pulchripes are notorious for mood swings. I can hold mine no problem one day. but sometimes I will touch her, and she stays perfectly still, touch her again, and she tries to bite.
Obts are not just defensive they will actually not defend themselves but approach and engage disturbances. Not in the p regalis way of approaching disturbances and investigating but i a bol t like a lightning jumpy and trying to bite kind of way
I’m a huge fan of Chaco golden knees and the pulchra. They are usually pretty chill but occasionally there are some psycho pulchra. A lot of people start out with Chilean rose hairs as well but I’ve never really been too interested in them. To this day it’s like watching a horror movie to me when someone handle their bottle blues lol. I’m over here like, “Oohhh don’t you do it! You better not stick your hand in that ta...you’re asking for an invertebrate ass whopping man 😲.” Love ya 💓
Deadly Tarantula Girl it's an Australian show about a woman's prison. it's like a more serious orange is the new black. it's on Netflix I believe. I really enjoyed the first 2 seasons.
Hi Marita, what about the Brachypelma Boehmei ? Thee most beautiful T in the world. Or the Nhandu Chromatus, a little defensive but still awesome. I'm glad you're not my teacher, I would be staring at you all day and I wouldn't learn a thing lol. I hope I made you smile lol.
+flashy5150 You did. This video is for people who are thinking of getting into the hobby but don't know where to start. I don't recommend handling, but I wanted to show people how gentle giant spiders can be:)
Marita De La Pena I've just received 2 new scorpions today -- the Androctonus Baluchicus and a Hottentotta Minusalta --- very awesome looking ones. I don't think it's a great idea either for people to handle any arachnid or bug but if they want to, it's up to them. I know I'll never handle my scorpions -- unless I want a trip to the hospital or the morgue lol. All mine are the deadliest in the world, so it wouldn't be a great idea. I love your rattlesnakes too, very awesome. I want a Gaboon Viper so bad. I'm glad that I made you smile in my last comment -- it's good for the soul lol.
I handle my Ts once in a blue moon, but did it much more when i was younger. Both of my b hamorris are super skittish and kick hairs at the smallest things. :(. Do you own any Aphonopelma species? They've always been way chill imo. Coolest t i owned was an a. Hentzi male. Now i have pokies and baboons too. And the meanest avicularia, she makes my p irminia seem like a sweet puppy..
awesome list i have a B. Smithi that is still very small its about an inch and a half, just molted this past week. Also got a full grown female Chalcodes.
I just got my first tarantula... A rosehair... but I was wondering... is she safe to hold? I am terrified.... I have been warned by several people that this type of tarantula will immediately attack you... I need your advice. Is it true?! Is rosebud going to most likely attack me??
Any spider can bite. You need to get to know the spider before you try to handle it. Generally, a spider will let you know if it doesn't want to be handled.
Use a paintbrush to see if she is hungry. Gently prod the spider and if she lunges that is a feeding response. If she moves away, gently use the paintbrush (soft paintbrush) to guide her on your hand. Just remember there is no way to guarantee the spider will not bite.
hi, I'm turning 11 this year, and I am REALLY INTO INSECTS AND SPIDERS! I have asked my mom if I could have a tarantula or a scorpion for my birthday, and she says maybe. I already collects dead insects and spiders, but as I only find them dead because i believe it's unethical to kill them, it's the best I've got is a huntsman spider. I was just wondering, are there any spiders that are completely docile, and will not bite? if not, just some that would be good for kids. Thanks! -Sylvie
Avis are great, would've placed them higher. They look amazing (especially versicolor nymphs), are rather active, don't hide all day long (usually) and don't require too much work (I guess that's true for most Ts though, compared to other exotic pets).... Handling is usually fine too, if you keep in mind that they're as fast as some Araneomorphae and that they can jump VERY far. Never seen any Avi going defensive, not even using the hairs.
Im shopping for a spider my 11 year old can enjoy. He knows a lot about them, but has never owned one yet. So this Christmas will be extra special. Leaning towards the Red Rump. An honorable mention in her video.
Hello.. DTG I have learned everything I know about tarantulas because of you, you are the best... I can not find anything on my first T I have a maybe 2 1/2 aphonopelma . Chalcodes. Do you kno what is the best encloser and setup? if u can help thank you, sorry too long
I have an adult female avicularia versicolor and raised since a .25". I get her out a lot and even let crawl on my face. She is wonderful! I also have a Salmon Birdeater I used to get out but not anymore, as she is 11" long! I'm about to purchase a green bottle blue and a socotra blue leg baboon!! Can't wait!!
Wow.. I was fixing to completely write you off as another idiot with spiders, but you actually picked something for #1 other than a Rose Hair, which while can be very docile can also totally freak out and leave you with multiple dry bites and seems to be what everyone is told to get for their first (and not surprising is what is their first "Oh it bit me" experience too). And while my wife's Rose Hair is very sweet, I prefer my Curly Hair or Red Knee as they are both super chilled T's that have no issue with me reaching into their habitats. And I don't hold any of mine... Ever... Mainly because I'm afraid of spiders. Which is also why I keep them nearby.
There are a few more species that I would add as honorable mentions for beginners, Brachypelma albopilosium and Aphonopelma chalcodes are two of the most docile tarantulas and then there is the Lasidora parahybana, not for those that want to handle but for someone that wants a tarantula that is always out in the open.
I have two albo's, one is hobby form and one is wild form (not to be confused with wild caught) and they are sweethearts. I'd also add Euathlus sp. red, hands down the most docile species I've encountered so far. :)
Wrench Dan i was actually ki da glad she didn't mention G. rosea, people always say they make the best starters but mine is a nasty little bitch lol, plus they have a habbit of going on hunger strikes, sometimes for over a month at a time. they are easy to care for but honestly i agree with her, braccys are a bettwr first
actually I have a pulchra as well that is the same but not because it's aggressive but because if you let it, would eat your hand! just has that good of an appetite. thinks everything that moves big or small is food!!
They are a bit of an enigma in the spider world, they were widely available in the pet trade, but now have become rare in the wild. They are fairly hardy, but are difficult to breed in captivity...Hope this helps:)
Do you thank it’s OK for them or any type of spider to crawl over you I’ve seen some videos were they’re very brave to let a spider just crawl over them but do you allow that do you think it’s good do you think it’s OK for children to do that as well my son is only nine and he really would like a spider and I don’t know about that yet? I’m very scared of spiders but I think you have really turned the page on it for me I’ve watched a lot of your videos and I just love how you handle them and you are so brave to let them just walk all over you
"Anything with a mouth can bite": INSTANT RESPECT. This is what I always tell people.
Should i feel sad for people who stopped the video on the "fake" number one and went ahead and bought it as their first tarantula?
Nah, OBT's are awesome:)
Deadly Tarantula Girl
Oh thank god.
I mean if they’re not doing enough research to know differently that’s on them
Axel The Mango lol when she said the baboon you should have seen the WTF look on my face. It was somewhere between a deer frozen in the headlights and that’s The stupidest shit I’ve seen all day look. Then she was like just kidding. She got me.

Sorry i know, old video, but what about the Chilean Rose Hair? Mine just died after about 27 years and I'm looking for another just as or more docile. Probably the Mexican Red Knee. I haven't decided yet.
Just curious of your thoughts. Great videos by the way!

UR COLLECTION IS INCREDIBLE AND SO BEAUTIFULLY ORGANIZED! WOW! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK! 👍😁🕷💯
THE 2ND ONE LOOKS LIKE THE URTICATING HAIRA CAN LITERALLY SLICE U! LOVE THE AVICULARIA VERSICOLOR!
WOW THAT BLACK VELVET IS LOVELY!
#5 who thought she said grammar stole a poker piece?
that tarantula aint nice mine try to bite me 3times now nope nope
it can sense your fear
me no joke
Barbara Wilson did you saw the harry tarantula
Omfg YES!! 😂
Notification!!!
LOL!! : in all honesty pre-homework today "o.b.t." Was my very 1st choice ♥️ it looks so dreamy (I've a thing for orange)
Question : do you have a suggestion for one that prowls a lot (active) im not interested in holding.
They're awesome!
This is the best channel on RUclips! You are so knowledgeable DTG. Do you have a Euathlus sp red? Can you do a video on one? Please :)
I enjoyed that disclaimer at the ending.
Thumbs up from me. :)
Awesome! The beauty of RUclips is you can watch any episode any time!
*marita, gotta love autocorrect
ARIZONA BLONDE
Tate Mushroom i love the Arizona blonde. They can get a little fussy but all in all a pretty chill spider
My arizona blonde is a sweet heart i love the ARIZONA BLONDE!!!!
Good points:)
Thank you! And wow.. I should really learn to read other replies before posting one myself. Sorry to just basically repeat what you already wrote! :-O
Great video as always! Have you ever owned/bred Chilean dwarfs (Euathlus sp)? I've heard those are great beginner species.
Thank you, I appreciate it:)
I was so happy you didn't mention G. rosea/porteri I was dreading number 1. Also loved the OBT joke haha I started cracking up the second I saw it
LOL, Thank you so much:)
I know right
Hey awesome Video.
Thank you for this video it was very helpful and fun to watch as are all of your vids :) can't wait to get my own tarantula very soon 😁
Let me know when you do:) Thanks for watching.
+WarriorPoet01 I don't think that's a B. Smithi you've got.. - mine got it's adult colorations before it had a 1 inch legspan...
At that size it is adult coloration. Do you have a picture?
Great video! The most docile individual tarantula I have owned over the years was my Grammostola actaeon female. Next to her would be my Avicularia metallica but she does like to jump quite a bit lol
Deadly Tarantula Girl, what do you think of Aphonopelma Chalcodes? I got my Arizona desert blonde tarantula from Ken the Bug Guy. She's incredibly easy to care for, stunningly beautiful, and her temperament is cotton candy sweet. Plus, she comes right here in the USA! :)
+William Earle I do like this species, I haven't kept one in a few years. Maybe it's time to pick some up:)
Following , thank you for the great videos , I myself are tired of what others say they do or don't do with their T's Lol Looking Forward to watching more from you , Kat
Thanks a lot DTG please keep me posted on the new arrivals
The fact that you sat still as a rock when that giant versicolor jumped onto your hand strikes the fear of God into my heart.
I’m watching these video to help get over my phobia of them. It’s helping some. The ARE beautiful. Still freaky though.
Yay! Welcome to the club!
Absolutely love you videos...and cant stop listening to you....lol
I've been out the trade for some years now and thinking about getting back into the hobby again. I sold all my t's a few years ago and only have 1 left now, ,22 years old G.Rosea from sling I raised her. I envy your collection and hope one day I can have at least half as many as you 😁
I've had a grammostola rosea for a about 10 years now and she is gorgeous and wonderful. You are most definitely more gorgeous and wonderful then she is ; )
LOL!!! Thank you so much!!! She sounds wonderful!
I was just wondering why Chilean Rose Hair are not on your list? Actual question, not trying to be rude!
Thanks for answering that! Good info and food for thought! I LOVE your video's BTW!
Thank you so much:)
I really love T's, and it's nice to see how much you really love them too, those animals deserve respect for their strenght and beauty
By the way, I do plan to get one someday. The G. Pulchra will be my number one choice, I just love that species but I'm not sure about it. It would be my first Tarantula, and of course I've got no experience with these creatures. How do you feel about it? Would it be a good choice or not?
Hey DTG. Tell me pls, which one is the most friendly T. She is going to grow with kid and where can I buy one?
I agree with the listing, except I'd put G pulchra at first place, but that could be bias as this is my absolute fav species. Ooh and BTW "but you know, I'm a lil bit tougher than most people" that was cool and fun as heck but I like your reaction, I hate it when people buy a tarantula, feel the need to frequently handle it, then whine and decide to give it away if they get bitten.
hello. i would like to ask what your opinion on the LP (salmon pink) is?
i got one yesterday as my first T..
+Dixxiehp I am sorry, I don't keep that species. I know they get big and tend to grow fast. Do you have a specific question?
What do you think of a Brazilian black? Is that a good species for a beginner?
What do u think about the rose hair tarantula as a beginner? Many people have recommended it
You should check out some of my videos on Choosing Beginner T's.
is the Arizona Blonde a good recommendation in your opinion for beginners?
Yes, with the proper research. They are hardy and tend not to be ornery:)
nice list:) agree with what you said near the end!:))
Thank you:)
G. Pulchripes are notorious for mood swings. I can hold mine no problem one day. but sometimes I will touch her, and she stays perfectly still, touch her again, and she tries to bite.
I love Mexican red knee tarantulas there beautiful. I want one as my first pet
Always amazed by you!!
+pete marrero Thank you:)
What are your thoughts on the Arizona blonde?
I have an A. urticans; do you find they are more likely to bite than other avics?
I assumed the name meant they would urticate more frequently.
They tend to be a bit more nervous and bites are more common with this species due to their nervous nature.
Would you recommend a Chaco golden knee for a beginner tarantula?
Chaco golden knee is actually the 5th on her list (Grammostola pulchripes)
I also like the B. Smithi because I watch Wentworth and if you do too, you should easily understand why the name is cool.
I have never heard of Wentworth...
Deadly Tarantula Girl it's an Australian show about a woman's prison. it's like a more serious orange is the new black. it's on Netflix I believe. I really enjoyed the first 2 seasons.
oh and the main character is named B. Smith
Thank you so much. Enjoy your Gaboon vipers for me. I love them Too:)
I have a New River Rust Rump. I just sent out my last two hentzi juvies. I really enjoy aphonopelma:)
You did the top 6 tarantulas.haha I love your videos
Thank you so much:)
awesome list i have a B. Smithi that is still very small its about an inch and a half, just molted this past week. Also got a full grown female Chalcodes.
+TheRevan1231 I love both those species. I haven't had chalcodes in a while. I think it is time again:)
How can I do that? I'm so confused... However she just stares at me.... weirdy.....
Use a paintbrush to see if she is hungry. Gently prod the spider and if she lunges that is a feeding response. If she moves away, gently use the paintbrush (soft paintbrush) to guide her on your hand. Just remember there is no way to guarantee the spider will not bite.
I have great news. I'm actually holding her!!! Yaaaayyyyyy!!! She's so soft!!
Congratulations. Make sure she doesn't fall:)
Well i haz a P.muticus and i hold it yeah! fite me 4 it mate! xD Nice video as always marita
+Chainsaw Reptiles LOL
I want to diversify my education animal collection. and ive been on the fence about adding tarantulas. this is a very helpful video!
+GWRevolutionTV Thank you so much:)
hi, I'm turning 11 this year, and I am REALLY INTO INSECTS AND SPIDERS!
Aaaand I should've watched until the versicolor lol.....
Good point:)
I have two albo's, one is hobby form and one is wild form (not to be confused with wild caught) and they are sweethearts. I'd also add Euathlus sp. red, hands down the most docile species I've encountered so far. :)
is the Arizona blonde a docile tarantula
Marita might be Deadly but she Talks Sense she has keeped more Tarantulas then any off you have had hot dinners so bigginers Listen, and enjoy.☺
+Sean Swanson Thank you Sean:)
No probs Marita any time.☺
:)
What do you think about chilean rose hairs? My dad had one, such a sweet heart.
Wrench Dan i was actually ki da glad she didn't mention G. rosea, people always say they make the best starters but mine is a nasty little bitch lol, plus they have a habbit of going on hunger strikes, sometimes for over a month at a time. they are easy to care for but honestly i agree with her, braccys are a bettwr first
chris kenny I'm not sure, I've had mine for 11 years now and most MONTHS she will bite. others she is a sweetie.
actually I have a pulchra as well that is the same but not because it's aggressive but because if you let it, would eat your hand! just has that good of an appetite. thinks everything that moves big or small is food!!
I’m very scared of spiders but I think you have really turned the page on it for me I’ve watched a lot of your videos and I just love how you handle them and you are so brave to let them just walk all over you
Tarantulas are great pets for kids but I don't recommend handling. They are venomous and can bite if they are afraid.
I just Subscribed to your channel do you do feeding videos
Thank you! I do an occasion.
I Love that !!❤💜 & OMFG YOU ARE AN Superb !!😍😍😍
Thank you so much!
i love the flame knee i want one as a first tarantula ive saw many videos they are docile and i think you were 100% right in what you said 😁
Hi, how often would you feed a juvenile b.smithi, I feed mine one medium sized locust a week but shes quite fat
Just found your channel... instant sub 😁
Thanks, Love!
