Great series!!! I used to see it as a lad growing up in Venezuela. I believe it was not aired much in the US. Like Formula 1. Probably not too interesting for the north american media.
if you like this, search for 'Laurie Johnson Chunky.' Laurie made some great music of his own but it's almost completely unknown. Chunky is a great track but it's had hardly any views since someone uploaded it years ago.
So true. The main melody was actually a violin through a wah pedal. Took me a long time to work that out until I spoke to the composer in 1991 but once you know you can hear the violin string artefacts and slides which are different from a guitar playing through wah pedal. Pete Drummond's virtuoso wah guitar on the main theme has never been equalled or matched - it was so tight. Very few folks can get this full wah sound anymore. Combination of the vintage pedal, production techniques and just music fashion I guess.
@@quillianpiffkitt8284 Almost certainly Barry Morgan who played on the main and end title themes . This tape used for this CD was from Laurie Johnson and is at the wrong speed and has phasing on it . The Network Video cleaned up version used on the Blurays is the correct version and tempo .
Can someone answer this question please? For me as a drummer watching this at 13, sealed my destiny-drums it is as a career, & a successful one at that, but this has been pivotal inspirational moment since then. I've asked Harald Fisher and he says it wasn't him; I was always convinced it was!! Can anyone help me?? Maybe Alf Bigden? Huge thanks in advance 🙏
All of the score for The Professionals was recorded by an orchestra in London that Laurie would conduct. Paul Clay was Laurie's music editor on The Professionals and The New Avengers; if anyone would know who did the drums, it'd be him.
@@Yuggy3665 I have got the session musician list somewhere. If you ever listen to the isolated drum track you'll recognise Morgans energetic style and slight swing he always used. Same on "Dempsey and Makepeace. "
@simes44 No, it is the first track off the album. The sound quality is okay, but some of the tracks picked are from dire episodes, like "The Gun". When you say left off, are you talking about the lack of ones I've been uploading lately, or the ones the makers of the album left off?
Skella Tore My Dad got it for me as a birthday present 9 years ago and I swear it didn't cost anything like that much. Try another shopping site like Hive. If push comes to shove I think you can get this cheap on iTunes.
oh shit!! good call man ahahah i couldnt find it any cheaper so just dloaded from youtube sampled treacks and made some ofi beats hahah!!! i actually used some footage from your review of the professionals!! excellent review btw!!! do the other seasons aswell yo!!! and please check out the track i made!! just uploaded it!! much love
Edward Hunter can't wait for that man!!! You should cover every episode... Even if it i a lot 3 parter I woukd5def5be watch and support yo fully addicted to ci5 atm hahah
Nice video by the way; pleased you liked the Trump part...Quite topical as it happens. Infact in the review video I was gonna include the part right after where Cowley describes the US politician visiting the UK to "visit the place of his ancestors" before being murdered by terrorists, but I felt that would have been too long and a bit too on the nose.
It sure is, especially considering that I highly doubt Lovelace's 'deep throat' antics would have made it anywhere near British Television, unlike the Professionals. (Although, she obviously wasn't just a sex symbol) By the way, very sad news; Lewis Collins (Bodie) died of Cancer yesterday. An underrated actor and a nice chap. He was 67. I was actually listening to this yesterday just by chance, for the first time in ages; I had no idea he'd died.
The Professionals, still one of the best thick ear/espionage/undercover series ever. Laurie Johnson's music was a major factor in its success.
those days. l love the professionals. still watch it on itv4
@@gadgetman36 Indeed... and uncensored!
Some of these tracks were used on “New” (2002) Top Gear in the early days, and the nostalgia hit me hard 😅
That was my first experience of this song lol. The Police Car Challenge on Top Gear I believe it was.
@@MASTERJJ1995 yes! I loved that episode. The Golden Years of Top Year. 🙂
@@jamesparsons9022 Indeed mate aha. Miss the good times.
Sleuthing always reminds me of deer, probably because of the scenes in the Scottish Highlands. Thank you!
GreenerHill You mean from the episode "Everest was also conquered"? Yes, I like that one
Yes, that's the one! Thanks. The Scotsman in tweed has the broadest shoulders in human history. Glad you like that one as well. Cheers. :)
The one at 5.00, so funkeh, all the others are awesome too, thanks for uploading
Edward, I'm inordinately grateful you took the time to upload these almost unobtanium tracks! ;-)
No worries, I understand the CD may have gone out of print since it came out in 2008.

”BOXES!!!!”..........”Sorry love”
Great writer.
I swear the only thing they didn't use wah wah on at some point for The Professionals soundtrack was the drums.

This Laurie Johnson must be a fan of Roy Budd.

How much of the soundtrack was in mono or stereo?
I think it's mostly mono, but the Blu-rays of the show do use stereo though.
