Yes DO NOT make them too thin, because I did about 10 years ago I was in charge of thanksgiving dinner and I made candid yams and made them to thin and made like a candid yams apple sauce and I still hear about it to this day from my family lOl it was good but apple sauce like.

I checked back in the video of course but after it was too late lol & I just wanted to clear for anyone who got confused as well ♥️
Do all us southerners cut yams and squash slices? I have found that a thicker slice cut in quarters hold up a bit better. I hope I didn't offend anyone. I generally mind my business.
Not knocking your candied yams they look good but when i was coming up all my family would wash there sweet potatoes put them and a pot of water let them boil a few mins take them out let cool just enough to handle them Peele the skin off slice them put in a large pan in layers cover each layer with the flavors with the flavorers my mother use sugar and Karo syrup let over flavorers pour over the potatoes with a few more pieces of butter bake in the oven that's how i fix mine to this day

When i cook on stove top, how do i prevent it from burning and sticking to the bottom when its cooking for the 30 min?
Make sure u cook it in none stick pot and make sure the heat is not to high
