Ophthalmologists shudder at the mention of tight lining and using color on the waterline. If I followed my ophthalmologist's opinion I wouldn't be wearing any eye makeup. Sorry, Doc. That won't happen. I don't tight line or use liner in the waterline though.
Since menopause I’ve had dry eye, managed mostly, restasis and then other drops for flares. My doc says absolutely no make up in water line ever. I can use liner at the lash lines which is better than no liner but really only do eye make up a few times a week because the cleaning process can be irritating if the area is already vulnerable.
This is so hard for me. My Optometrist shared the same with me. I just don’t feel right without tight lining-but I also don’t want to ruin my eyes--sigh. Thanks for bringing this up. I suppose with time I’ll get used to it…..

For my daughters graduation I used the Sisley Phyto Teint foundation and it lasted ALL day. I was pretty impressed as we were at the coast (windy) and it was fairly hot weather!! I also wore the ND corrector and concealer which, just like the Sisley foundation, lasted all day. Boy was I relieved and happy 😂😂 I must use the City Lips products I have, before they go off. I can not use the lighter color concealer under my eyes (I use a thinner consistency concealer to resist creasing). Younger women love the Seint concealer. Their contour colors, blushes (called “lip and cheek” colors), highlighters, and bronzers are AMAZING. It’s a great product line all in one palette. One gets color matched by a Seint artist (MUA Michelle Spieler for me… the best!) by sending in a makeup-free selfie. You will be hooked on the glow… amazing!
There are glasses that warm up and I bought a pair for my brother last Christmas because he has dry eye and he's addicted to them. He said it feels amazing.
My eye ducts can get blocked as well, (getting old) so I avoid tight lining. My eye doctor gave me an eye mask similar to this one. Pop it in the micro for 15 seconds put it on your eye and it helps. I do it about 3x a times a week. Ask your doc about it. (Also I fall asleep in about 5 minutes if I’m wearing it).
Oh thank you Liz! I will ask mine. She prescribed Restasis drops but they are so expensive so I don't take them. I use systane over the counter drops multiple times a day and take Nordic Naturals Eye Healthy supplements, and I do notice improvements when I am consistent

I can’t afford the luxury foundations or concealers, but I’m still trying to find good quality ones from the drugstore. I’d welcome your expertise for suggestions. I also prefer stick, cream, or liquid blushes. I sometimes use them as a base for a powder blush when I want a stronger look. I agree that Bourbon is a great color, but it has tiny gold flecks. I prefer a matte tightline or one with a slight shimmer. And I save tightlining for special occasions because of dry eyes. I also agree that a white waterline color is too stark for older women. I prefer a flesh color like the one you demonstrated. Milani’s Dolce Perla is my favorite highlighter for my cool-toned skin. I’m glad that you suggested that brand.
My optician has always advised me to never put eye liner in the waterline lower or upper especially if you suffer with dry eyes as it will clog your oil glands makes sense fascinated me doing a simple beauty technique could cause such issues I’m sure now and again would be ok as long as your eyes aren’t super dry like mine
I've heard that a drugstore alternative for the Charlotte Tilbury setting spray is one by Sephora. The one bonus is that it is unscented. I am allergic to fragrance so opted for that instead. I do like it.

Thank you for mentioning the risks of tight lining-I saw a video not long ago where an ophthalmologist squeezed the oil glands of an eye and the oil came out like toothpaste-regular use of eyeliner in the waterline was the culprit. Eww!

I will say forget the CT setting spray. That stuff just spits on me and messes up my makeup. I’m in love the Flower Beauty ( I think you can get it at Walmart) matte setting spray ( there’s also a luminous one but I haven’t tried that one). I’ve repurchased this at least 4 times. Love it.

My dermatologist, a woman, says that products formulated for the eye use ingredients that are safe to use around the eyes, but of course anyone can have an allergy to anything. She also says that tightlining is fine but try to keep it in between the lashes more than on the waterline as much as possible…which of course is not tightlining exactly, but for daily wear, this works for me.

The YSL is beautiful but if you have oily skin I would do the Dior Forever matte foundation, the YSL has more of a satin finish
