Produced for Pepsi, This 90's policy trailer features a theater full of Barbies and Kens. This is an updated transfer from 16mm, including the spoken disclaimer.
This kinda reminds me of a 'Mr. Bill' skit where Mr. Hands would spray him with the water hose, suck him into the vacuum, or have Sluggo kick him out of the theater, and we'd hear him say 'OOOH NOOOOOOOOOO!'
I saw this in a movie theater when I was an 8 or 9 year old babykid. Was with my family, a friend, and the friend's mom. I was sitting next to my dad and my friend, and when that title screen came on, dad was already laughing. I started getting uncomfortable when the Barbie got sucked into the vacuum cleaner, but 0:52? That was what did it, that's what scared the ever-loving _crap_ out of me. I had nightmares about this policy trailer for _days_ after I saw it. Over the years, I completely forgot about it, but I just happened upon it last night. I'm 28 now and though it doesn't scare me anymore; I admit it had me laughing when I rewatched it. This clip was such a strange, obscure childhood trauma of mine, but weirdly enough, I appreciate it now. By the way, I showed this to both my parents today. They didn't remember when we saw it at the theater, but it had them cracking up!
There's another version of this trailer where after she gets electrocuted, she's charred and smoldering and says in a dazed voice into the phone, "Can I call you back?" Makes it less scary, IMO.
I can't believe after all this time I finally found this video. I remember it played in the theater when I went to see toy story 2 when I was five, and it freaked me out. It's funny how I still remember it and now I found it.
I remember when I was a kid there was a theater in North Carolina in the Outer Banks area that used to show this PSA. I remember seeing it before Spy Kids 2. As a kid for some reason the message at the beginning made me feel uneasy for some reason. Looking back now, it's a pretty creative PSA.
Scotia Cinema used to have this. And the OLDER it gets, the BETTER it gets. And, the BIGGER the screen, and the LOUDER the speakers, IT'S EVEN BETTER. I wish they still used it.
This used to scare the shit out me when I was little! The part where she got shocked on the phone made me cry lol. Mom always told me to cover my eyes before that part.
I first saw this with my grandparents when I was 4 or 5 while seeing monsters inc. and for the entire movie I could not stop thinking about this creepy commercial. And to this day, every time I watch monsters inc I still can’t help but think about this creepy trailer. I’m almost 26 now.
This policy trailer was basically a Robot Chicken sketch before Robot Chicken ever existed.
Core memory unlocked
I didn't think this was real! I thought it was some half-remembered nightmare from my childhood.
Bro me too! I'm in shock
