I want to learn Russian primarily for the challenge of doing something I never imagined I could do. I am a 44 year old Jail Sergeant and recently (Nov 2023) completed my Bachelors degree, which was another milestone I thought I'd never accomplish. I have always wanted to visit Russia, and I know a ministry in Moscow that I would love to visit for a missions trip, and knowing Russian would be a treat. Lastly, to possibly open up professional doors in translation as I near retirement from my current job.
Thanks for these great reviews! I've been getting back into Russian and Duolingo gets me hooked in competition, but I sometimes wonder if I'm really advancing. I will probably try Rosetta next, then maybe Rocket, as well as my continued off and on use of Russian Accelerator. (great!) Thanks to you, I know which one is right for me. I want to learn from a variety of perspectives.
Questions for you. Thanks. 1) You show several screens that represent the language as transcribed english, rather than Cyrillic. The stories, i guess. Is this done throughout? 2) With lifetime purchases, you're screwed if the app isn't regularly updated and errors aren't corrected? What was your experience with this aspect? 3) How accurate is the content. Did you pick up on mistakes or typos? This just kills me with expensive apps like this.
