    Thats a beautiful watch

  • @SatvikPandey-e4g

    Dude, it's just that if you face towards the sun, your left arm will be North, right arm will be South and behind you is West. (And just reverse it if it's evening, if it's eve and you're using a watch even then you will have to reverse the direction of where you're placing the "middle" or north direction of the watch.)
    WHY IS THIS SO HYPEDDDD

    • @nobeltnium
      @nobeltnium 6 месяцев назад +1

      since the earth axis is tilted, the sun position is gonna be a bit off from true East or West.
      It's still good for general direction though, but if you need precision navigation that's not enough

    • @fantasticanomaly838
      @fantasticanomaly838 5 месяцев назад +1

      This doesn't make sense, because the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. At some point, the sun is going to be south. So this trick literally only works at sunrise and at sunset, because at every other time you're going to be way off.

    • @Holtynfuntime
      @Holtynfuntime 4 месяца назад

      @fantasticanomaly838 Why don't you try it if you're so sure of yourself.. you have to lay the watch flat. This had been taught for hundreds of years

      @@Holtynfuntime I'm responding to this comment suggesting that facing the Sun with your body is good enough. Right now the Sun is at SW, so neither arm points north. It literally only works at sunrise and sunset.

    Also suggest you research how to navigate with the north star, southern Star and the moon. I use it in the city and country side, and if you haven't gotten out of the woods before dark. Always bring 3 flashlights.
    Smart to plan ur hikes carefully so you have plenty of time to get out of the woods before dark.

  • @dm9860
    @dm9860 2 месяца назад

    It's called solar South or North i learned this a few years ago, I use it all the time. At first I used the hour and noon hands on the watch. Then went to using watch for time and my hand.
    In the northern hemisphere, at 3 pm point ur right hand index finger at the Sun, halfway from ur index finger to ur thumb is solar South. (Open ur hand so you make a 90 degree angle between ur thumb and index finger.)

    • @jameswilson8907

      The sun rises in the east and sets in the west, typically at 6 o'clock in either am or pm the sun will be low enough to determine what direction it is going. Morning would be the 9, afternoon would be 3. (As a side note this is true for all am and pm readings, am is on the left of the dial, pm is on the right)

    • @OracleTimeTV

      If you stand in the same place for a few hours, the time on you watch also changes. It’s all to do with the relative position of the hour hand to the sun.
