Lets squeese in a bit of Tessie updates and improvements for the next upcoming adventures in 2025! And thanks for all the great support on my "Expedition Greenland" series, Chapter 6 is in under edit already!
So much of my boat gets modeled after yours, hope you don't mind. I have paused many of your videos to see how you set stuff up. As a good friend often says, "don't copy the greats, copy their preparations." No bullshit and keep it simple is such a rare and intelligent mindset. I always look forward to these, hope someday you could do a detailed video on the rig and sail controls. Thanks Erik, you are an inspiration and role model. Bright orange is brilliant.
Tessie looks gorgeous with the orange trim, it will certainly be popular when you sail to the Netherlands. The new wind sensor that compensates for sway is really cool as well. I recently got into your channel in the last few weeks. Your expedition around Scotland and through the highlands brought me to tears at points, so beautiful! You are super inspiring and I look forward to Chapter 6 of Expedition Greenland.
Congratulations Erik, the renovation of the sailboat was excellent. I follow your expeditions for this vast ocean, I admire your experience and technique of sailing I will be waiting for new expeditions in 2025. Strong hug ....
Nót that it matters to you but Tessie looks on fire! I love Orange. What a stunning upgrade. Well done. It's like that splash of Red on Arctic Allure's boat. The pop of bright adds great visual impact on your videos and photos. ❤
I have no idea how to sail. But watching these videos is utterly amazing. Transiting the North/Norwegian Sea in winter…..unreal. And your DIY, Bob Vilas himself could do no better! 😀
congrats ERIK on your 250K followers you tottaly are Unique unto yourself and provide a Channel like no other. Tessie looks amazing. You and your family have a merry christmas and a great new year. Cheers from the Brit in California.
What a proper Hightech boat that become, no one believes now that tessie is old .....And it looks beautiful too. Amazing how you care for safety details, Well done, Erik!
I give you credit, Eric, for being so diligent upgrading and maintaining your boat, Tessie. She reflects on her owner in a very positive way. I'm a former boat owner and unfortunately I didn't do it following your example, for multiple reasone. And eventually the regimen of maintenance tasks got away from me. Pity.
With everything I have owned I have wanted to do this .( I am getting there with my motorbike ) you have everything as you want it all working very time consuming but how satisfying 😊 Looks great all of it 👍
Good job!! 🎉 nice orange color and upgrades.... But yep, you now you need waterproof connectors on that amazing new lights!! Give us names because they are amazing. Keep going and share with us! Thks
Thanks for another interesting video, like the sprayhood. On my boat I put in a clear vertical door to make the area under the sprayhood a drier and warmer area. Worked well for our trip to Norway
That has been very interesting. I Think every improvement makes a lot of sense and will make your Journeys safer and Maybe even more fun. Looking forward to update 2.
Eric, it looks awesome - i love it. And the added High-Vis is pretty neat too. Nothing more important on the Seas than safety! Looking forward to your next adventures - Immer eine handbreit Wasser unter deinem Kiel :*
It has offspring! I have also changed the color scheme on my 1982 boat. It's not blue canvas anymore, but light grey. Not that visible, but doesn't get old in the sun as the blue ones did. Changing the color scheme is a huge project, with all the painted parts and sailcovers, sprayhood and so on. No only repaint the stripes on the hull with orange as well!
A tip for electrical connections. Wago clamps. The ones that can open, orange levers. They make electrical jobs fun and easy. Appreciate your channel, greetings from Sweden.
Painting the coach line and the Viking on both hull sides would really finish the orange transformation off perfectly. And I bet it would add to visibility too - far more than one would think. But looking really, really good so far!
Hi Erik, it is best to kea e though household screw in block electrical connectors at home. I recommend Deutsch automotive connectors (that require a special crimper). Easy to use. Also I recommend a Mastmate ladder that slides into the main sail track (just remove the top three sliders), and maybe a couple of steps bolted into the mast high up- much easier operation.
And if not the Deutsch connectors, since you already have solder butt connectors, use those. The heatshrink makes them waterproof, but of course, to "service" you would need to snip and strip, so the wire would get a little shorter each time. I know the Deutsch connectors are watertight, but not sure whether they are marine rated.
Amazing updates, I fully understand they make your life so much easier during your solo passages, almost impossible to keep up with technology, indeed, safety second!😂 Thank you for the excellent footage!
Erik, you should be crimping those wire connections. ABYC Standard calls for it. Those solder connectors can become hot, and a live wire can short and cause a fire.
Wise move. As a retired military guy, have some knowledge about the subject of what can be seen at longest distance. That color is red. The human eye picks up red befor any other at long range. However at sea in the north where you tend to be most often nothing else is orange. May be an over board contanier which no one will want to hit also. Great job.
Hey man amazing video as always. I love the color choice and all the work on the boat. Every time I watch one of your videos I know I’m in for a little adventure. Thanks for sharing these things with us and working so hard. Safe travels and I look forward to those future videos. Happy holidays🎉
Thank you. Erik seems to be at better health. But it seems he will not reach Greenland. At least not some time soon. I will follow him whereever he goes.
Hey Eric, dont forget te stop at de Royal Yachtharbour in Den Helder😊 we will welcome you. And what you do, i would like to do too, but unfortuanally i cant leave my love ....and your sprayhood and sailcover are very nice :) Its in the Dutch colors :) And i love to see you struggle at the mast top. I did this kinda work so many times, love it to see you do that 😉😂 Love to see you soon.... Tabe CorM

Add also reflex paint or 3M reflex bands for night visibility in searchlights for example
How tall are you, Erik?!
Sorry should have stayed in english ... Wago clips are fast reliable and can be made waterproof( for some reason could not post below)
Just purchased a lightly used and well preserved Contessa 39. Not much room if you are over 6’1”. Set up for solo and short hand.

Hi, I love the NBJS T-shirt... bough some of them a X-mas present to offer to some sailors friends!
Season greetings!
The sea is slow to recognize diligence and aptitude, but quick to sink the unfit. Stay diligent and smart!

Great ideas for improving visibility. Celerity is due for a paint job and you've given me a lot to think about...
Good ole Tessi, long may she sail.
You are the only person whose English I understand. :D

Your lady is transforming to a sailor.. wonderful
Use tape to have the top 2 meters of your mast to be orange + add also reflecting tape. The reflecting tape is great.
Love it! I’ll check it out, thanks!

It's my favorite color, so I very much approve!

Tessie will colour coordinate with Tiger. Looking good.
Love the orange and it will help other boats see you from a distance better maybe. Either way she's looking sharp!

Hi Eric ...being a manufacturer of boat canvas to keep the sliders going just spray them now and then with DW-40 and move the sliders now and then
Thank you. Erik seems to be at better health. But it seems he will not reach Greenland. At least not some time soon. I will follow him whereever he goes.
God Jul Eric, tusen takk !
