Argentina is a fun place to live. I had a ball there spending 4 months taking in the culture and hanging out with the awesome Argentines. This American loved being there.
What were Argentinian's general perception of Americans? I would think they don't care for us too much haha
@@will_lowry pretty 50/50 but if you stay in BA it’s more 90/10. A lot has to do with politics from what I have been told by Uber & cab drivers.
@@parkerdavis8167 huh I see, 90% favorable in BA is very high. Didn’t think that would be the case since their culture seems so different
@@will_lowry It was my experience that the perception by Argentineans of American people was varied. The vast majority of those that I met had an extremely positive opinion of Americans. I happen to be a Black American, and honestly that fact seem to make me stand out positively even more.
A huge percentage of Argentinean folk are either indigenous, Italian or have heritage from Spain. Being a Black person or a fair skin blue eyes individual will make you stand out in a big way. But in general Argentines are warm romantic people. Just be prepared to do a lot of dating!
@@RoughRider757 glad that you liked it in argentina hermano. i am from argentina and all black people i met were always extremely fun and cool people. saludos
Damn, that's cool. I am working from home in India with 2k usd salary a month. Working from Argentina would be so cool!!
What work do you do
Thank you for this fantastic video. I live in the USA. I am strongly considering living in South America during the winter and the USA during the summer. This is extremely doable. Thank you for this valuable information.
Hey, thank you for the Comment ! I’m making an updated video on this because a lot has changed. The rent has about doubled in usd. And there is a few more things that the renters are asking that complicate the process.
I went to Buenos Aires in 2007 and rented an apartment right in The middle of the city for 180 us a month between 2 of us. 2 bedrooms in an beautiful old building with a giant balcony.

A good one for a whole family!
im from the philippines and i really want to go to argentina but its far far away LOL
I really want to go visit Argentina too, and Colombia! I'm from the US, so to Colombia would just take 2-3 hours, but to Argentina is a long flight!
Yea, you're looking at like a day or so of travel, plus it'll cost more as it is more distant from there. If you do get the opportunity to travel there, then I wish you a good luck on your trip and enjoy it!
@@centauria9122Bro,Argentino here, I went to NYC in 2019 and it was like a 9 hour flight or so (it's doable), mind to Say that I touch-landed in NYC and took another flight inmediately to Tokyo, and then a bullet train to Kyoto which was My final destination, that 's What I would call a long trip (it was like 36 hours 😅), anyways,. Nice departamento! Pretty cool for 200 bucks. I don't know if you saw that undertone window there is what looks like black mold.. That is pretty bad for your health. I am from Mar del...I haven't lived there in 23 years. I lived in La Florida. If you make a mixture of water and bleach you can spray it, leave it for 5 min or so and then wipe it down and it will disappear. It is pretty humid there ant least in La florida...I came across that black mold so many times. even here in Los Angeles being dry and not much rain I get it.. Anyway,, good luck and I am glad you are enjoying my country. I hope one day I can go back.
Thank you for the tip, because of your comment I just removed all the black mold today with the bleach mixture yes humidity this year has been way worse in the last year and caused all that mold but I wasn’t too sure what it was. Thank you and yes I’m definitely enjoying it here!
white vinegar also do the trick btw
Thank you for showing part of your live. Not bad considering it's the whole flat and not the room, however the place seems to be a bit run down (walls). Have a nice day!
The walls are, the apartment came on painted which makes it really hard to wipe down the walls and with high humidity It doesn’t help

you can do pretty much everything you can do in your country (if you can at least speak basic Spanish)
@@alfrredd Cool! I will practice my Spanish!
To be honest you can get very far by teaching English haha, learning English in Argentina is taken very seriously. There are dozens of bilingual schools, and English language schools all over the country, specially in Buenos Aires. There’s plenty of people willing to pay natives just to practice speaking English.

@@sitopoema I like to know about other options available, like different areas you can rent and the process of

Only thing is that foreigners without an Argentinian-based income often can't get long term rentals very easily. And they end up having to rent through airbnb for much higher prices.
Did you need to show an Argentinian guarantee of income in order to rent your place?
hey, yes I did for the lease I did have a Argentinian guarantee of income but also the Realtor that I found is really laid back with everything.

@@js_guyman I'm interested too. How is the crime rate there? The locals? I'm a digital nomad. Do you think it's possible to rent from abroad? Sorry for all the questions! :D
@@teachinggypsy Argentina seems extremely safe and chill to me, especially compared to many other countries in South America. Just stay out of the really poor neighborhoods, which is easy, because there are tons of middle class neighborhoods :)
If you want to find housing before you get there, just do it through Airbnb. Lots of hosts on there accept long-term stays.
By the way, I'm not in Argentina yet, I'm just researching it
@@teachinggypsy the homicide rate in Buenos Aires city was of 3.3 per 100k people last year. In comparison, the rate in the USA was of 6.5 in 2020.
I wasn’t able to find a source with the crime rate, but in general, there’s a good amount of robberies/stealing. It really depends on where you live to be honest. The are certain neighborhoods that are more dangerous than others. In my experience, some basic precautions while on the street are good enough to avoid getting involved in any kind of situation. But i mean, the other day my cousin who lives in Madrid told me how some British tourists she befriended some night, had just gotten robbed/stolen (i don’t remember which of the too very well). So sadly you can go through this kinds of experiences everywhere.

$200 a month is a dream. That would probably go for $1500 in this neck of the woods.
I like your dog and apartment. What type of dog is she? ♥
So if I get and Apartment in Argentina, I’m thinking of relocating there. I set the rent In a fixed amount every month, with the landlord. Set in USD with the landlord Fixed price!!! So inflation doesn’t make my rent go up.
In a was yes, my rent isn’t set in USD. I pay every month in pesos. And that is a fixed amount for the entire year. When I exchange my USD to pesos every month I receive more amount of pesos per dollar.
For instance in this past week, One USD was about 208 pesos and now today it’s 234 pesos per dollar. That took my rent from $213 last month to $190 for this month And it will only get cheaper throughout the year until next year

well, that is in mar del Plata, not in Buenos aires... if you look for a 2 room apartment with garage, it is more expensive . in Buenos aires perhaps you can find that apartment around 350 with services included and without garage
Yes Buenos aires is always going to have higher rates there but there are more benefits with higher prices that mar del plata does not have.

how much is it now 9 months later? Inflation there is nearly 100% per year right?
hey Sito, where did you find your place to rent? I''m looking for a cheap place like that in Mar del Plata from Jan or Feb 2024. Would love to hear any suggestions... Thanks!!
I’m arriving in BA this week… where is the best place to exchange USD for Argentinian currency in your opinion? Thanks so much - your videos are so helpful and fun to watch! :)
It’s honestly a bit tricky. I still have not found the perfect place to do so, but I would always recommend Western Union has been the easiest way.
I know a guy who exchanges USDs for Pesos in the city centre in Buenos Aires. He uses the “blue” rate, which means almost double as many pesos for each dollar (the government rate is not very convenient to be honest)
Lol, I'm moving to Argentina now and can't find anything cheaper than 400-500$. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong. Feel free to let me know.
Well it depends on what are you looking for. If you need an apartment with more than 1 bedroom it is possible that you won’t get anything cheaper than that, and if you have moved here did you consider the parallel exchange rate? That’s doubling the official one (ARS 380 compared to ARS 200 for US$1) and hence you will get cheaper prices in dollars. Greetings from Argentina
@@JuanPerez-ei5ls excuse me, I’m a bit confused now, for example if I’m looking for an apartment on zonaprop and it shows that it costs $700 does it mean that if I exchange my $700 with a blue rate I can get this apartment almost double cheaper? Or do I need to pay in USD in Argentina for rent all the time? Thank you!
Cool! Dogs allowed? Any extra costs? How do they view dogs there? Strays a problem?
Thank you. Keep up the informative videos. Very basic, simple and real a good formula. Not a lot of B.S and sales hype. I look forward to the next video..

Thanks for this video!! I really enjoyed watching it. How much did you pay for your car there? Also, are you near Buenos Aires?
Mar del Plata is about 5 hours from Buenos Aires City by car. 1 hour by plane. The train trip is a bit longer, by bus it’s also a bit more.
While it’s a quite big city, it’s still a touristic-centered city. So during the summer months (Principally January and February) it’s packed with argentines from all over the country. The rest of the year it’s not so full.
Hi. Thank you for the info. I'm currently in Buenos Aires...been here for a month, but do want to see what Mar del Plata is like (I'm from Miami). How do you go about looking for an apt? And what about garantia? Is it easy to rent directly with the owner?
Quick question. Did you bring your dog with you from the US?
Excellent video. Thank you. Could you tell me what phone you use in Argentina? I would like to have unlimited talk and text to USA.
Right now I’m using an iPhone 12. The phone company I use here is a prepaid line from the phone company Claro. I never looked at the having unlimited international phone calls but I use WhatsApp for most of the phone calls and Facebook messenger.

@@facuufernandezz5070 I hope Argentine improve in everything
Also, do you have any estimates on how much a decent home would cost there? In the US, most decent homes are around $100,000 or $200,000. I tried looking it up online but couldn’t find many reliable sites.
Im not sure what your definition of decent home is, but you can expect to pay about that for a decent place in Buenos Aires City. In average properties cost upwards of 2000 USD per square meter in the city, but it can go all the way up to 3000 usd (or even more) depending on the zone/neighborhood. As an expat you’ll probably want to live on the pricier neighborhoods (they are nicer and safer in general). But keep in mind you’ll be getting a place in the middle of a massive and cosmopolitan city with rather high standards of living and a good quality of life.
On an other point, you could choose to live in a smaller city, where properties are considerably cheaper (you can expect to pay half or even less for similar flats/houses) However, it will be less cosmopolitan, less diverse, you’ll be more dependent on a car, less safe, the infrastructure will not be as good, and you’ll be less connected to the rest of the world in general. Of course this is merely a generalization, you should do your own research.
There are stunningly beautiful cities all around the country too. Bariloche, Neuquén, Villa La Angostura, Mendoza, Cordoba, Tandil, Bahia Blanca.
in boston try multiplying by 2; in Palo Alto by 6.
@@agme8045 whoa, thank you so much for the detailed response!! I really appreciate it. Honestly, I think I’ll look at houses more in the countryside. Someone told me that it’s very rarely when you pay in ARS but at the same time I’ve seen many ads where they show prices in ARS so I’m a bit confused 😢
Sorry for the confusion, but I paid in pesos not in USD but another thing that I forgot to mention in the video was my contract was in my name with my US passport, and a local from Argentinas documents that my be the reason why I would pay in pesos but it would be weird that they wouldn’t except the pesos either way
@@sitopoema thank you so much for your reply. So what I’m thinking is that, let’s say I found an apartment on zonaprop that is $700 for example. Is it correct?
@@michael_pacer when I was looking for the apartment, none of them popped up to pay in dollars so that’s a bit weird for me.
