    Great video Richard. The Jay made it worthwhile spending those hours a cracking Bird. Always good to be on the doorstep. Cheers Keith

    Hi Richard, yes winter birds make a great subject this time of year. I've had a few good shoots with woodland birds this winter. All the best, Steve.

    Thanks Richard. Great way to spend a few hours. I have noticed the birds only on the apples in the morning. Must be the sugar boost like you said. Thanks again. All the best. 👍📷😎

      Cheers Rob, nice to be able to spend a few hours with birds local to me. Yes, I'm thinking rush of sugar should do the trick especially when it's cold. Cheers Rich

    Thanks for the video! It made me laugh a bit, I have a very uncooperative mistle thrush in my garden, too. XD I always see it hopping around but it never seems to come when I'm out trying to get it's picture... Maybe next time :)

      Thanks very much, nice you had a bit of a chuckle, lol... I've been back since and it's been Thrush tastic.... Typical and it always seems to happen. Cheers Richard 👍

    It's about time I joined the commentators! Nice work, Richard. I find Jay's to be particularly shy. A great way to get close to them.

      Thanks Phil, Welcome to the comments section. lol.... They are pretty shy at ours too. Nice to focus on the more commoner species than always chasing BOP's Cheers Rich👍

    Very nice Richard. As you say you don’t have to go far to get out & get some cold fresh air in your lungs & take in the surroundings. Shame the redwings & fieldfare (cracking birds) didn’t show up for the camera, but the Jay made up for it. Proper character of a bird the Jay. Nice one mate, look forward to the next one 👍

      Thanks Nick, it's a shame they didn't make an appearance but since then I've had the pleasure of more birds! Just love Jays and so comical to watch, hope your keeping well? All the best Rich

    Like spending time in the garden but certainly don't get the variety you get. House Sparrows, Dunnock, Robin, Wood Pigeon, Jackdaws, Rook, Crow... and the other day 1 random Greenfinch! Sorry for the random likes and comments, I am working backwards through your videos 😂 Looking forward to some new Canada content 😉

    • @RichardBirchett
      @RichardBirchett  Год назад

      Yeah, we are pretty lucky with the bird species! Still the common ones are always a joy to photograph. Don't see that many Greenfinches these days, they suffer from a disease which sadly effects them and other finches... Great stuff, thanks for checking them out Ian. 😀

    Hi! I have the same lens, plus 1.4 and 2x extenders. Have you ever tried with extenders? I´m using a 6D Mk1 for years flawless and thinking to upgrade to R3. I do sports, motor racing. Thanks.

    • @RichardBirchett
      @RichardBirchett  7 месяцев назад

      Hey there, thanks for watching. I've tried both the 1.4x and the 2x and have found both to work really well. 6D is a great camera and has served you well, the R3 will be a major step up in tech so I hope you enjoy it. Thanks Rich 👍

  • @factsnchill168
    @factsnchill168 7 месяцев назад +1

    So will that lens have stabilisation because of the R3? Will you still have eye tracking???

    • @RichardBirchett
      @RichardBirchett  7 месяцев назад

      Yes it will, the EF IS works in conjunction with the IBIS in the camera. And not a real difference in RF quality with the obvious subtle differences and advantages of the newer glass. R👍

      @@RichardBirchett oh wow. Ok. That’s good to know. Thanks. Currently shooting on a 1dx and would like to buy an R6.

    • @RichardBirchett
      @RichardBirchett  7 месяцев назад

      @factsnchill168 fair one, quite a move from the DX but I loved that camera but the R6 will be a big positive change and your keeper rate will certainly increase. Best of luck 👍

    Providing the background is far enough away from your subject all f stop numbers will blur the background ,dont be fooled into thinking f2.8 or lower does this ,it’s all about that distance from the subject …
