My son is in a federal executive branch agency. Yes, there is a high level of confusion and chaos. These are people who normally, follow instructions and obey the laws to the degree possible. But the instructions and memos are sufficiently vague and even contradictory to make this impossible. They are unable to carry out normal work days because they are constantly calling meetings trying to figure out what they are supposed to be doing.
The contradictions are not incompetence. They are intended to cause psychological paralysis so all is brought to a halt. The freeze "memo" -- the document -- was rescinded, but the orders in it, the freeze, was not.
We can see the effects already. I knew they were going to break things, but I didn't realize it would be this fast. Maybe that will work out better for us in the long run? IDK

I am a retired nurse practitioner, and I can’t tell you how many times I relied on the CDC for information on vaccinations, recommendations for unusual disease, diseases, and any information. I need to use census data almost every day in my work and this is profoundly frustrating. All of the contacts that we have in agencies have indicated that they do not expect to have jobs in the near future and that we should anticipate that agencies will not have the capacity to do basic functions.

My brother works for forest service and is freaking out as no one knows what is happening or how to even manage and deal. Emails are no longer sent through any chain of command. Everyone gets the same info in their inbox box. The most information is being found on Reddit. And much of that info has proven to be correct. It is so upsetting that these things are occurring. I know 50% or so of America voted for this, but the other 1/2 did not. These are tough times. Rely only on your family and don’t watch a lot of mainstream media. It really is devastating when someone can server 5 years of active duty service, work 4 years as a contractor for the military, and to serve as a federal employee for the military, only to be asked to go away because you're "replaceable." Receiving the "Fork in the Road" email was a huge slap in the face. I'm not a hero. I don't have any war stories of my own. But I served my country to the best of my ability. My degree is in Healthcare Admin. In college I had a healthcare data analytics course that was basically a more advanced Statistics course but for healthcare. We used data from the cdc in that course. There was a place we're we were able to get raw data to mimic what research and healthcare organizations need. To know that this data was scrubbed because of this fight on DEI is ridiculous. This has nothing to do with DEI! They don't want studies for women, under privileged communities, minorities, etc.

I'm a VA employee and I'm completely exhausted and confused by this insane "offer" to resign. I'm actively looking for another job only because I don't want to be blindsided by a termination, which would flood the unemployed workforce and make it more difficult to get the job I want. A lot of people are saying we should stay in our jobs and see what happens. Unfortunately, I'm near retirement age and have an aging parent that needs me to keep working. During COVID I was let go from my job and couldn't find work for a year. I can't go through that again.

My son is in a federal executive branch agency. Yes, there is a high level of confusion and chaos. These are people who normally, follow instructions and obey the laws to the degree possible. But the instructions and memos are sufficiently vague and even contradictory to make this impossible. They are unable to carry out normal work days because they are constantly calling meetings trying to figure out what they are supposed to be doing.
The contradictions are not incompetence. They are intended to cause psychological paralysis so all is brought to a halt.
The freeze "memo" -- the document -- was rescinded, but the orders in it, the freeze, was not.

My degree is in Healthcare Admin. In college I had a healthcare data analytics course that was basically a more advanced Statistics course but for healthcare. We used data from the cdc in that course. There was a place we're we were able to get raw data to mimic what research and healthcare organizations need. To know that this data was scrubbed because of this fight on DEI is ridiculous. This has nothing to do with DEI! They don't want studies for women, under privileged communities, minorities, etc.

When I did public health, I investigated reports of infectious diseases before the CDC took over. I remember hepatitis outbreak from a dentist office. There are processes and procedures that protect the public to clean and sterilize instruments being used. Without oversight and enforcement, we are in danger.
There are multiple layers of an investigation starting with local authorities.

I'm a VA employee and I'm completely exhausted and confused by this insane "offer" to resign. I'm actively looking for another job only because I don't want to be blindsided by a termination, which would flood the unemployed workforce and make it more difficult to get the job I want.
A lot of people are saying we should stay in our jobs and see what happens. Unfortunately, I'm near retirement age and have an aging parent that needs me to keep working. During COVID I was let go from my job and couldn't find work for a year. I can't go through that again.
