The Salzburg S-Bahn is a large transport project in and around Salzburg in the Euroregion of Salzburg-Berchtesgadener Land-Traunstein, which crosses the border between Austria and Germany. Its S-Bahn network has been partially in operation since 2004 and its first stage was opened in 2014. The railway network comprises five lines, which are operated by three operators: Salzburg AG, Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) and Berchtesgadener Land Bahn (BLB).
Salzburg AG operated lines S 1 and S 11 with 18 two-carriage DC electric multiple units built by Simmering-Graz-Pauker or its successors.

Just a few years ago I took this train to get from Salzburg to Oberndorf (to see the Stille Nacht chapel). This video brought me back to remind me of the years gone and the world so changed that I probably never will be able to get there again... Thank you!

Tolles Video, vielen Dank! In den achtziger Jahren bin ich oft von Lengfelden via Bergheim nach Salzburg gefahren, weil das Parkplatzproblem in der Stadt sehr groß war. Auch nach Oberndorf, zur Kapelle Stille Nacht, bin ich gerne gefahren und habe im Sommer dort schon meine Weihnachtspost erledigt. Es hat sich vieles bei der "Lokalbahn" verändert, aber zum guten !

2:16: from the right the connecting line does not come from Salzburg main station, but from the Salzburg Gnigl marshalling yard. The route is only used for freight transport and vehicle transfers.

Eine sehr interessante Nebenbahn in Österreich, die außer den dort Lebenden kaum jemand kennt. Nur schade, daß das Wetter so schlecht ist. - A very interesting branch line in Austria that hardly anyone knows about except those who live there. It's just a shame that the weather is so bad.

Ja, leider lässt das Wetter die Landschaft nicht im besten Licht erscheinen ... und schade auch, dass nicht auch die Teilstrecke von Bürmoos nach Ostermiething befahren wurde (ist landschaftlich noch interessanter)! Ich habe in dieser Gegend 15 Jahre gelebt.

I loved the Brazilian line Curitiba-Morretes because of the Atlantic Rainforest that we are driving through....loved the St. Moritz -Tirano line because of the beautiful mountain view and impeccable infrastructure, there is a French Yellow train with amazing infrastructure and views, and the Italian line along the Cinque Terre villages, the Simmering line from Graz to Vienna ... and many more....

Is this a regional tram? It sounds just like tram, it has a crossing with trolleybuses (I cannot imagine a regular train catenary using 15 kV crossing with a 750 V trolley wires) and most of the time it has a single trolley wire instead of a full catenary system.

the tram is operating with 1000 Volts DC. Crossing a trolleybus line will not be a challenge for insulation technology.

It's a trailable turnout. Which is meant to be cut open by the train and falls back to its initial position afterwards.
