- In this video you can enjoy the cab ride - train driver's view along the Stubai Valley Railway (Stubaitalbahn) between Fulpmes and Innsbruck in 4K/60 frames per second.
The Stubaitalbahn (Stubai Valley Railway) is an 18.2 km long narrow gauge (1000 mm) interurban tram from Innsbruck to Fulpmes in Tyrol, Austria. In the city of Innsbruck, it uses the local tramway tracks. At the Stubaital station, the branch line-rated part begins. The meter gauge track starts at Innsbruck's Main station, crosses the Wilten district, and passes the villages of Natters, Mutters, Kreith, and Telfes. Between the Stubaital station and Fulpmes, the railway is single-track, but at nine stations: Sonnenburgerhof, Hölltal, Mutters, Nockhofweg Muttereralmbahn, Feldeler, Kreith, Telfer Wiesen, Luimes, Telfes, there are passing loops where the train usually uses the left-hand track. The final station, Fulpmes, has three tracks and one depot.

This is a very beautiful interurban tram line surrounded by stunning scenery. I travelled the whole length of it more than a decade ago, when old Duewags were still in service. Thank you again for good memories! 👍

My family used to drive across the Brenner Pass in summer in the mid to late 1960s. It was interesting to see the old Brenner Pass road. The first time we went that way, the Europabrücke had just opened and there was a short stretch of autobahn on each side. I was also interested to see the ski jump tower. I remember that the old Brenner road gave you a view of what the ski jumpers must have seen as they prepared to launch. If you continued from the landing area, there was a large cemetery with what looked like hundreds of graves. My 14 or 15 year old mind thought that the view was not the best confidence builder for nervous ski jumpers 😀😉
@roadie3124 😀o, I can imagine. Those ski jumps are so high...I climbed up the higher ski jump in Planica, Slovenia and I can tell you that even without the graveyard it takes a lot of courage to jump from there😉. I am glad that the video brought back some good memories. That is aways so good.
Interessante Fahrt über eine wenig bekannte Lokalbahn in Tirol durch die wunderbaren Landschaften des Stubai- und des Wipptals. Ah, the Stubai Valley and the Stubai Alps! One of the best summer ski resorts I've been to in Austria. We traveled several times in the 80s and 90s all the way from Stockholm down to Austria for skiing, hiking and good food. And beer of course. We stayed in Neustift where we rented a large room from one of the residents of the village.

@@RailRelaxation Yes I love Austria and the Alps in general. The Stubai Alps are one of the few I've tested where you can ski above 3000 meters. And you can enjoy the fine Firn snow at the top. We have always gone for summer skiing in June. Snow on the slopes, summer in the valley.

I used to live in Innsbruck and you can see where I lived at 59:15 in this video ( Marktgraben 12 ) above the shops. Then later moved to Olympisches Dorf. I now live in Brisbane, Australia.

The scenery is stunning and the slow pace of the train gives leave to enjoy it.I have been watching the high speed rail videos and, while I appreciate the experience, the disappointment is not being able to appreciate the landscape. As I am travelling vicariously through your videos Incan understand the need for efficient, high speed trains but feel the joy of travel has been lost in the need to get anywhere in a hurry.

Thank you for this video. I have stayed at the midpoint of this line (Mutters) every September for a number of years. Holiday makers to the Tirol might like to know that a weekly travel ticket for unlimited travel on all trains, buses and trams in the state of Tyrol can be bought for just 45 euros. Unbeatable value!

It keeps going over trailing points the 'wrong' way. Why doesn't something break?
These switches are designed for it.
They have springs to return them back, this is rather usual on tram networks, probably could work only on sidings on standard gauge and weights.

@Terepin64 Yes, it could be. It uses the tram lines in the city.
Not sure, tram-train assumes that You operate on 'standard' railway system. This is more an LRT (Light Rail) system then a tram-train. Also, tram-train vehicles need to be crash resistant to mainline standards, as they operate together with standard 'heavy' trains. These are pretty standard trams.

I've got to 25:25 and noticed these trains don't need the points to change on the out rail for them to ride over, how does it work? I thought it would derail 🤔😳
They are on springs.
If you come from the "wrong" direction, the wheels make them switch over and then they spring back to the original position.
Pretty often used on tram lines with single track sections.

Btw. the blue signal lights before the point indicate to the driver that it has returned into the correct position after the previous train.

Bei 10:01 hat er vergessen die Weiche zu stellen. Jetzt haben dann die Räder die Weiche gewaltsam in die richtige Lage versetzt. Wäre das nicht gegangen, dann wäre der Zug entgleist.
Das sind alles Rückfallweichen, deren Zungen "aufgeschnitten" werden können. Die werden bei der Fahrt nach der Spitze nicht gestellt. Das ist schon korrekt so.

Nicht nur die eine, Rückfallweichen auf der ganzen Strecke.
Diese Bahnschranken in Österreich machen mich wahnsinnig, da is immer 100 Jahre lang rot bevor und nachdem ein Zug gefahren ist. Das ist sowas von ineffizient...
Bevor in Rannersdorf die Unterführung gebaut wurde bin ich dort mal 15 Minuten gestanden, für 2 Züge die gekommen sind... einer davon war eine Schnellbahn die davor noch am Bahnhof gehalten hat. Aber nein man darf nicht fahren, man könnte ja sonst mit dem stehenden Zug zusammenstoßen, oder mit dem Zug der grad aus Venedig losgefahren ist...

It's both. "Tram" isn't a type of vehicle, it's a type of _operation_ (driving on sight/abiding by road traffic rules). On the interurban part of the line the trains don't operate as a tram, but as a train (driving on signal/absolute priority over road traffic).
