If this were mixed as well as the studio album version, this would be my new favorite song ever. Paranoid Android is already an amazing song, but this just makes it perfect.

I like this because it's so wonderfully raw. But I have to say the album version is much better as a song. It has perfect pacing in my opinion. I used to think that I wanted the parts of this song to last longer, because I love them so much. Hearing this however makes it very clear why got trimmed down

Crazy how much song structure can change a song. I think about how they where experimenting/refining their in rainbows material for example. I usually fully agree with what this particular band ends up deciding upon as the definitive edition of their songs, such as true love waits and motion picture soundtrack. But I do get why people prefer earlier versions
i adore the studio version but this has such a charm to it …… it’s like paranoid android got blackout drunk after a very bad day and got unable to keep itself together entirely so i had to drive it home and let it sleep on my couch and that’s what it’d keep babbling out the whole while. also 4:34 is still so crazy it’s so sad it didn’t make it to the final version

As a musician it feels good to hear the rough cut of one of the best produced songs I've ever heard. The huge difference between produced and raw can make your head spin. You will hear/create a song in your head that already has production baked in, sit down and record - just to hear a cough in an anechoic chamber. It can deflate you if you're not ready.
I could listen to them riffing on those 4:34 to 7:00 notes all day long. I actually do it for like 5 minutes with my guitar. It could be a whole song/outro/intro. Thank you so much for the upload.

I'd been waiting to check it out ever since Radiohead announced the OKNOTOK anniversary edition, only to find out they wouldn't go as far as touching or touching up the "minidisc" treasure trove. Good on Thom for always outdoing hackers and staying ahead of the interwebby times. I mean, "Kid A" was fully streamed on the band's website waaaay back in year 2000. This is a band whose marketing strategies are the fully bloomed concept for what, in contrast, seems barely seminal in the LPs. The White Chocolate Farm knows that it knows what it knows. They make airports look like haunted houses by making airports look like airports. Their whole magic is in the unedited realm.

Look up the Ok Computer Mini Discs. There are 18 discs full of early versions, studio experiments, demos, and live versions of the Ok Computer Album and its b-sides. Amazing stuff. But it a lot. But it contains one of the most interesting Radiohead recordings ever. A b-side called “Lift”, that they refused to put on the album because they were afraid it would be a hit single and derail their Uber experimental thing, so they recorded a purposely more bland version. But look up “Lift (mix 1)” or “Lift (mix 2)” and tell me that wouldn’t have been a massive fucking hit. But they didn’t want another “creep” on their hands.
