    Gidday Steve, Just back from a 3 hour skate on a Slide Swallow Noserider 33, took me a decent hour to get going but once I started it was a breeze but talk about a workout.
    We're in Lockdown and the weather has been trash past couple days ... so wether my fitness wasn't up to scratch or not it was a pretty good workout...pumped a few slight easy slopes too.
    But yeah thoroughly enjoyed it besides losing my breath here and there.👍

    Steve- so glad I found your video... I may be late to the surfskate crowd but I was the first kid on the block to show up to school on a skateboard ... That's showing my age! Been having fun cruising on my longboards until I finally tried the Waterborn trucks I attached to my Sector 9 bamboo board and was hooked!!
    Thanks for your quick... yet detailed explanation, now I have the fun task of deciding between a Carver Cruiser, YOW Meraki, or the Smoothstar Thruster that looks almost perfect to my style of riding... as you said depending if you want to ride the sports car or cruiser... maybe you need all three boards which is fine with me! keep up the awesome videos Steve!!

    Hey Steve! Bought your personalized surf skate list and it’s a huge help, I’ve already really narrowed it down! One thing you haven’t talked out s lot yet in this series is how to break down skating style (other than sedan vs. sports car). I would love some help with this!
    I want to use my surf skate for stable long distance/endurance/commuter surf skating with occasional mild uphill segments.
    1. What truck is best for this? I want to get a Meraki but my CX are so stable I dont know if they can be beat for long distance commuting!
    2. I know my stance width (~16”) but I don’t know if I should be shooting for the higher or lower end of my WB range for my use case, or what shapes to consider!
    If it makes any difference I’m fairly petite so I tend to get more power out of short fast pumps than long powerful ones, but I also don’t have a lot of luck getting up hills on my waterborne nor my 31” Resin CX!
    Thanks for everything you do for this community! Float On!

    • @SurfskateLove
      @SurfskateLove 2 года назад +1

      I wouldn't switch from the CX if I were you. I think it's best for what you're doing. And you want something on the higher end for longer distance pumping.

    Thanks Steve, I have learned heaps from your videos. I have four different sized Carvers (Carson Proteus, Booster, Swallow and Triton Signal) and have tried both Cx and C7 on all of them. Your formula was perfect as I have worked out that with my weight, height and stance a 17 inch wheel base with cx is the best fit for me as I like cruising and getting the flow feel under my feet. Yes, inches do make a difference! The interesting part of it though is that the cheaper Carver Triton cx is my favourite. I like the feel of 68MM Park Black 83A wheels. Have you tried out any in the Triton series?

    Steve, long time older surfer, newbie surf skater. Love your content. Question, I’m trying to follow your great work in transitions and bowl riding on a carver black tip surfskate. Unfortunately, I’ve taken some big splats trying to drop in/roll in to bowls (thank you so much for the recommendation on the hip pads - you’ve saved me!) Since all I want to do is ride bowls to improve my surfing skills, I’m considering buying a more traditional skateboard that is optimized for bowls. My thought is that I’d learn on that, being a more stable board - and then go back to my carver black tip. Have you tried a traditional skateboard in bowls or have any thoughts on this strategy?

    Thanks, Steve! My stance is pretty much identical to yours. I’ve got a Greenroom c7 which has been great, but I’ve been thinking about trying merakis on it. Obviously this would shorten the wheelbase to about 17” so I was wondering if you’d tried it, and if you had a good time with that setup? I’d rather not get a new yow complete.

    • @SurfskateLove
      @SurfskateLove 2 года назад +1

      I actually think the Meraki would work for our stance on the greenroom. Give it a shot. Worst case scenario, you’ll just have to get another deck for the Meraki.

    My criteria was: which surf skateboard will arrive sooner. I was that impatient (not my normal trait). I was very fortunate that a SmoothStar sales rep helped choose my board. I think my board is great for me. I don’t have money to buy another one.
    I would recommend having patience for everyone else although it didn’t work for me 😂

    Hello, I've watched all of your videos about choosing the right board. Thank you for all your effort! I just need one advice: my stance is 18'', just like yours, and I have a longboard experiences. But watching all of your viedos I want to try surfboarding so badly! :) I narrowed my search to Carver CX board, I just can't decide between Proteus 33, Knox Phoenix and Black Tip. I'm a taller guy, 6.3, but I can skate smaller boards (small Penny board for example)... I think best for me would be Proteus, but I like the graphics on Knox Phoenix better (I know it's silly, but I can't help myselph). And I like the design of black tip with higher concave etc. What do you think? Is there any huge difference between those three? I would like to carve the streets, try some smaller loops and even go on a pump track. Are all of those boards capable of doing that? I am no pro, but I am a fast learner... ;) Thank you for your answer!

      If not, do not use water, it's not a surfboard, it's still primarily a skateboard and most are made of wood with metal moving parts.
