10.13.17 Goodbye From Lonely-My Interpretation: Because this is “Future Friends” and it explores their relationship history, I have placed this song in their timeline. To me it feels like this is referring to the time when Mitch and Scott reunited for the Sing-Off and they had expectations about the reunion and what it might be like and mean, and part of that was they were both “caught up in what they used to be”. Because they had been apart, they both were feeling “lonely” and hoped that getting back together would be a “goodbye to (that) lonely”. But it wasn’t the same. In their book, they said their feelings had change from boyfriends to siblings, and this song gives us some more of the details about that realization and what that meant.
They met up and Scott sings (because of course Scott would notice) that Mitch called him “Scott” not any of the pet names that they use again now, but that had been lost in that moment. Scott sings Mitch didn’t say “good night” I think this refers to the texting (IM as in Heartthrob) “good-nights” that they refer to in the book and we have seen with their Scomiche history of texting conversations. Mitch sings that the kiss when they met up again was not like the “First Kiss” so full of the novelty, joy, excitement, passion and anticipation that had built up and lead up to it. Now it was “distant i.e. different”, so each of them had some doubt and disappointment that the other had “fallen out of love” and not knowing how to comfortably be with the other again e.g. “talking too much” not the right “content”, and some panic about how to fix it - “coming apart . . . can’t breathe”.
They don’t look at each other while singing this song. They are not singing to each other. They are singing for us “the kids” and for new listeners, who can relate to a similar experience. The filming that has them both in the shot, but in different frames with different backgrounds, represents that some of this is their similar, but individual, thoughts about the other and that first reunion meeting. Separate thoughts (but similar) and that they probably could not initially talk about it yet to each other, and when they would talk it would make it clear what had changed. During their song and lyric writing process, they have been processing that time in hindsight and captured it in this beautiful song. They share it with us because we all have similar “loves and losses” and can relate. They are extra lucky because they have a friendship that is so precious and full of all the memories and the growth and they are a part of each other’s history of “self-definition” and that will never go away. They are soulmates and will always have that. And that takes away some of the “nobody understands where I am coming from” lonely, because they both do. However, the hope that maybe they could recapture the special “first life changing significant relationship” didn’t happen and so that “romantic significant other lonely” still persists. HUGS :-) BKK

The background looks to be Joshua Tree Park, California (I've ask but no reply on Twitter) but I did read its about the panic you feel when someone falls out of love with you 💔.
If I could I'd give you 4 thumbs up your a great reactor, please continue the wonderful work and have a fantastic day!

RCA is really dropping the ball by not getting them on the radio. I feel like Kirstin has been getting more interviews/promotions for her EP than they have.

Great job. You are very thoughtful with comments. You are not loud and obnoxious like so many are.
