      Toffee Suga underrated in a couple of senses: look at the rotten tomatoes scores (lots of negative), and ask people about this movie and you’ll find a lot of people aren’t at all aware of it.
      big fan of roger ebert’s review which was a positive review, no cynicism just enjoyed it for the well crafted enjoyable adventure that it set out to be

    Starting at the 1:20 mark, especially when Hidalgo comes in the left screen side. You can hear the difference in steps and stride of the Arabians vs the Mustang. Arabians are fast but their strides here sound much more lighter and pristine. Meanwhile when Hidalgo is on screen by himself you can hear the heavy hitting power of his hooves as his strides launch him forward. Such a neat little detail

    • @kindofawizard8681
      @kindofawizard8681 Год назад +34

      Arabian horses are fast as hell, sprinters with alot of stamina. But mustangs are a wild breed, they can run like that for hours and still sprint when they need too.

    • @anncommanda2060

      Sound effects are added or adjusted in post-production so they can add in details to help enhance the audience's expectations of characters or storyline regardless of whether it would be accurate in real life or not. There are tons of examples where the sound that ends up being used for TV or movies is created totally differently than what the real life sound is.

      They still do, but most care-free themed movies like Christmas movies or crap like Trolls just use whichever pop songs are popular at the time of filming because it's easier to just pay the copyright fees than to compose music.

    • @Neellieeify
      @Neellieeify 2 года назад +1

      If there is someone who actually compose music for his movies it’s Hans Zimmer. He has also stated in several interviews that he doesn’t do it for money, but only because making music is his passion. And to be able to meet fellow musicians! If you haven’t seen his interview about how they made the music for Dune, do it! ”His” guitarist Guthrie Govan cerated a bagpipe sound from his guitar! 🥳

      @@22espec they weren't many scholars or highly skill writers riding around that area that would have chronicled such events, Wild Bill Cody had a whole show regarding the great Mustang, if you are ever in Cody Wyoming take a visit to that Museum, Hopkins is mentioned there. I rode my bicycle across the country two years ago and coming through Eastern Wyoming, specifically Devil's Tower into Sundance, WY and Spearfish SD, and into the Bad Lands NP, the Lakota people talk about Hidalgo the painted horse and Mr. Hopkins...please remember that like in Latin America, indigenous people are not popular and highly discriminated. I can think of Chiapas and the Zapatistas having to wear a red handkerchief to be seen. Please know that my point is not to dispute if you are right or wrong but more to bring the point that weather Frank Hopkins was a might or not, this type of movie brings exposure to the cruelties the Natives and all marginalized people have and still face today.

      @@canica99 you should see the biography episode from the history channel, they really tried to find some true in his tales but they find out that everything was a lie. And yes, people actually write about horse races in those days, a lot. They couldn't find a single race that he was part of muche less win. The Buffalo Bill job was real, he worked for him but only taking care of the horses and he was not exactly a friend since Bill.never mention him in any of his letters of writings. The museun only mention he worked for him. That legendary race in the dessert never existed because in that moment the British were ruling those lands.

    In the same way that Jim's ride down the mountain in the Man From Snowy River is so iconic in the Australian spirit, regardless of how criminally underrated this film is, this scene alone kind of embodies the American spirit.
    Hidalgo does not come from a sacred breeding line, or even a breed that is recognized as having any value; he's just a hardy horse from some far off country that is not fit to be racing with these Arabians that can trace their lineage back centuries. Frank Hopkins (in this movie at least), is this rough around the edges, simple American, also from a lineage that is disregarded, but he is honorable, passionate, and loyal to his partner to the end. And through sheer willpower and drive, they beat them all. Not for pride, not for fame, but because they need to give it their all.
    You want to explain to someone what the cowboy embodies for the American people, show them this scene

    I wish this video had the part where he drops the saddle off of hidalgo both horse and man knowing it very well could be hidalgos last race and dropping that weight is why he glided right to the front full trust in rider and in the horse.... Legendary scene always gets me.

    woah! I just found a major flaw! did anyone else catch it?? it's at 2:08 Hidalgo is wearing a saddle. He goes from bareback to having a saddle. It's a split second so the producers probably thought no one would catch it.
