To be fair pretty much everyone is like that these days. Pretty much every major reviewer has a hard on for that set! Can I personally haven't tried it although I've come damn close to buying it. Every reviewer pretty much recommends it. I've seen some people say they prefer the legacy 2. Almost nobody prefers the starfields at least because of the price differential.

I’m a rock and metal guy and I’ve been listening to iems for 15 plus years. I own a bunch of iems and for my money I have never heard anything do rock and metal better than the JH Audio stuff. I have the Roxanne the Jolene and just got the Sharona… all fantastic and leagues ahead of anything else for rock and metal music. Don’t hear people talk about them much… these iems were basically tuned for rock music. I absolutely adore all three of them and I don’t think anything touches them for rock and metal. The Sharona is an absolute beast. Clarity, detail, bass and bass extension and otherworldly treble extension with the new super tweeter they have in there. … and all the Harvey iems do this wonderful thing with the mids that just make distorted guitars sound fantastic. Best I’ve ever heard for these genres and I don’t buy or listen to anything else at this point. Not probably a common thing to say in the audiophile iem world… but I love them. Just my two cents.

I use Moondrop S8's as my EDC and I listen to 90% metal - from classic and power to death and black, and the only thing I don't think is great is the upper mids for vocals. It sounds just a smidgen recessed. But just like the Variations here, the sub-bass and upper treble detail is truly exceptional.

Thanks for the video Timmy. KZ DQ6 is another great budget option for rock/metal and slam. 3 dynamic drivers. The UM 3DT as well. It slams like MEST MKII yet has better coherency, but is hot in the treble which can be tamed with filters. If you haven’t heard it…check out “ghost of perdition” from Opeth (or anything from their Watershed album or earlier, Blackwater Park & Stilllife are my favorite albums from them ). Agreed, Mest Mkii 2 and Metal (and everything else for that matter) is where it’s at. Don’t like 7hz Timeless at all with Metal though….too thin. Details are there but midrange has got no weight to it, imo…even out of my desktop headphone amp (V280)it sounds anemic. I think vocals are kinda hollow in general with Timeless… perhaps I got a bad set. 🤷‍♂️

    • @ID1visor
      @ID1visor 2 года назад

What does "thin" mean? Timeless is mostly bass which also bleeds into lower mids. I find it excellent once EQ'd a little. It handles everything with ease but imaging isn't as precise and stage is shallow but decent height and width.

Listening to "Elvis Is Dead" by Living Colour, an unstoppable band worth every ears' attention even if you're not into rock or metal. This song in particular is a party of musicality and genre fusion at a caliber that cannot be explained with words, and the original SeeAudio Yume make the whole album (Time's Up) beautifully clear and natural to my ears (be warned: the tuning is not backed by impressive technicalities so don't expect the soundstage you get with the Moondrop Kato...it's about a single step below that level of "openness" and imaging quality)

@@queenschism1234 Melvins > God. yeah it's kinda hard to find a good IEM for metal at large but I think Moondrop Blessing 2 Dusk is pretty good for metal for $330. it's technically competent or I could say highly technical although the bass is more like one-note-y but the rumble, thump and kick are pretty good enough. and it's quite speedy, never bloated or congested.
it's an all-rounder that excellent with jazz or any sub-genres of jazz. having owned and tested more than 20 different popular IEMs, I can't find anything that performs better than B2Dusk below $500.
it's not weird Timmy didn't mention Blessing2 or Dusk because he's been talking about it for many videos ago. but I can assure that it's still the king of anything below $330. or maybe even in the $500 realm.

The mele sounds better than the t3. The t3 sounds thin sound in the bass and drums .then the aria has to much highs. Metal always at loud volumes. The kato yes. Goes well. The timeless too thin for me. Drums should sound like the mest . Thick in the snare and kick and crash plates.then the variations no mid bass. And that's a no no. Bass guitar is always tuned on the same volume as lower notes in the guitar. Then the monark ,mmmm still same issue the mid bass could have a bit more. The Sony zr1 and mest is a good choice for sure.

The 03 is a bit hard to recommend IMO given the somewhat awkward fit, comically bad stock cable and most importantly: The existence of the Mele. Don't get wrong, it's a good IEM for the price but it does come with a few caveats
It's also not the only choice at under $30, the Tanchjim Tanya is a good alternative to the 03 and is a bit cheaper.

    • @TF2ReplayMaker

Change the tips and cable and you're good to go basically. It's not the end of the world with what comes in the box. Mele doesn't compare with the lack of treble against the 03s, especially after you switch out tips to something like say, the Azlas.

Bought Moondrop Aria's a week ago, and yeah it's hella good for metal. The double bass in Motorhead - Overkill have a lot of impact and Rammstein - Engel just sounds crisp.
I used the Moondrop foam eartips though, might differ with other tips. Moondrop Aria is definitely a good recommendation if you only have 80 bucks to spend, I also listen to other stuff like electro, rock, country, dubstep, and some video game osts (Lost Judgment - Viper sounded amazing with these) and yeah it's a 10/10 for me.

Timmy, please compare the Tin T3 Plus and Moondrop Aria to Hidizs MS2 and Whizzer HE01/HE01B. They are in the same price range and all have good reviews

Gizaudio would the crinnacle zex pro be in here or no just not sure if it was out when ya made thus video but that's my current pair of iem and first pair so I'm Def lookin to upgrade no more than 250 bucks but mostly listen to rock and live recordings of rock concerts from 50s 60s 70s any feedback would be greatly appreciated as of now I'm leaning towards the timeless the Kato or the yume midnight!! Take care man!!

Hey man, i was thinking on get the famous Hana 2021, or maybe even the Oxygen, because people say its the best on the price for Vocals specific, i even remember you too saying something like that. But on your IEM list for "Superb Vocals" you jumped directly from the Kato to the Blessing 2 Dusk, any reason for that? Hana/Oxygen arent better than Kato for vocals on that price range? should i get Kato than? I have aria, but there is some sparkle on treble that i doesnt like for vocals… Now but i pretend to buy 2 good IEMs with different signatures for all genres, im between the 7hz timeless+ Hana/Oxygen or Kato.

    X - X Japan
    Kurenai - X Japan
    Silent Jealousy - X Japan
    Blue Blood - X Japan
    The Revenant Choir - Versailles
