Where the hell you been? We needed you for those hearings...
True. Why do they get breaks at the same time and how many breaks a year do they get? When Steven is not available, neither is Trevor or Seth. Like c'mon man.

Actually tho and right after a week off
Congratulations Ben and Jalo.

Yeah, "Tiny Orange Hands" should've kept Bolton around.
He's been committing almost daily crimes, publicly, for over 60 years. Why would he no do witness tampering, yet again? If he were not banned from twitter, then he would have done it on twitter, like before.
Stephen Colbert! Aren't you a sight for sore eyes? We missed you dearly. That was the longest two weeks ever! Thank goodness you're back 💕
Brit here and yes, today the all-time record went. 104F was recorded and we got 102F in our garden yesterday. We are all woefully underprepared for heat - everything is built for cold, with brick houses that are insulated. It’s been difficult to put it mildly. Fires in London isn’t something we normally see. Well, not since the Great Fire of London 😂
Yes! Those buildings were wood...speaking of wood we used to be famous for redwoods here in the US.
As to A/C er..it was 98% here & I have fans and ice trays.
France here weve been swelering for days with a reciord & 44,1c ithe south east with horrendous forrest fire! Were torally unpepared for this dubai weather in europe!!

Hope you are doing alright!!
Here in france WE do have hot weather in the Summer but at the moment our land and forrests are burning down, and that is not funny

It’s a sad commentary, but when I just can’t take the news directly I get the news from the late night news commentary; Accurate information, impeccable delivery, and news put in context for believability. And I laugh out loud at our ability to see the worst news in the context of Cobert brilliance.
Seth Myers is great too. A bunch of times, though, they have the same clips, but they are differently funny!

Next year, can you maybe discuss your holiday plans with the other Late Night Hosts. Y’all abandoned us all at the same time. Can you maybe stagger your holidays next year so that you’re not all on holiday at the same time. We need you. 🙏💙
"Abandoned " is the key word.
Lol. They really don’t owe us anything like that. And as adults they should be fully capable to control their vacations for the benefit of their staffs health, wellbeing, planning, schedules and motivation. Not for our convenience.
I mean they're all gonna go on break for the week of the 4th, and they all take weeks off for the holidays in December, so those weeks are going to be dark.
They can't stagger when federal holidays happen. I just watch old late night clips when they go on vacation since there's literally thousands of those.

I live in London. The heat is horrible. I'm currently sitting in my flat with the USB-charged fans on, blinds closed, lights off, several (reusable!) bottles of water in the fridge. Yesterday, it was too hot for some of the tubes and trains to run safely, so there were severe delays. Was just in France, it was insanely hot already. You could literally see a massive fire raging from the Avingon church
The humidity in the air in many European countries makes it feel even worse. As how we cope without air conditioning, our houses are not built out of cardboard and are designed to keep cold out which works the same way with heat. Thick stone walls make it difficult for heat to get in easily. Spain already had a 45°C temperature this summer. We have seen these temperatures before, or close ones, but not this often or for such a long time and certainly not 40°C in the U.K.
It's raining here in the trossachs, Scotland. It was pretty hot yesterday, but compared to other parts of the UK, it's not been too bad.

Why does Representative Cheney refer to Trump as "President Trump." I believe that "Former President Trump" is more appropriate. That is until he receives the full measure of Constitutional protections until such time as he is properly referred to as "Prisoner Trump" (serving a life sentence in Florence Colorado for Treason.)
Maybe she is trying to emphasize that all of Trump's traitorous actions took place while he was still the President, which make the already worse even more worse as he was the leader of the government he was trying to overthrow for his own benefit. The important thing is what he gets called in the future and I hope that is convict.

“There’s something older than Joe Biden, the universe…” What a segue! 😆 Good job, writers!
I live in a cave house in the south of Spain. It's almost the same temperature all year round. No air conditioning, just the occasional bit of heating in winter. It's nearly always at 16 centigrade (61 Fahrenheit) due to 1-metre thick walls and a two-metre thick solid rock roof. Modern Spanish homes have no insulation at all - a really dumb design flaw in a country where temperatures vary by 50 degrees centigrade during the year.
Temperate wise, I've reason to believe the best spot to live in is Santa Monica, California. Maybe the best spot in the United States if not the world: its fogbank consistently reaches about a mile, keeping average temperatures cool; no wildfires; no hurricanes; at its hottest, abt 35 degrees celsius - and it hasn't even hit THAT yet this year. The parking is a nightmare scam in Santa Monica (its city council is a group of dipshit real estate puppets catering to commercial building no one seems to use), the ocean is certainly polluted, but that aside, the weather itself really never changes much. The rest of the country is fucked.
Heard 1,000 died from the heat in Spain. Western USA had a heat wave in Wash & they never have needed ACs so heat killed some there. Homeless will be the 1st to fry to die!
Insulation is where the building company usually cheaps out. Insulation is mandatory, but authorities never try enforce this kind of things.
Lucky you, I am in Almeria and it's unbearable here!! I want to move where you are!!! 🥵😅
I heard Almeria is in the dry section of Spain.

Welcome back, Stephen! It’s been a long two weeks.
I don't know what to make of jokes about the current heat wave in Europe bringing major droughts and wildland fires, but it's good to have you back.
Also, hundreds of people dying from the heat. Americans have no idea what's going on outside their country.
Isn't it also estimated that the heat might rise to be up to 50°C in Portugal and Spain? Or at least a couple of degrees over 40? I might be wrong about that as I haven't read the specifics in a couple of days.
(I think 50°C the equivalent to about 120-125ish Fahrenheit for the Americans who're wondering)
@@user-uu1vx6fi3z That's a sweeping statement you've made there. US have pretty lousy weather in many states too that suffer from high temperature (Texas, Arizona, Southern California , Nevada ....), wild fires, mud slides, tornedos, earthquakes and all. Hundreds die or lose their properties each year. They know what's it like.
@@MTMF.london Humidity is worse the more North or South you go on Earth. Once the poles' air flows won't be able to cool the countries that depend on them as well; you'll start seeing hell in countries that aren't meant to be that hot (Canada, France, GB, Spain, Portugal, Norway, Finland, Australia, NZ, etc). Simply because their environment is not adapted for that kind of humidity and heat mixed together. People love to point out USA states that have environments that can handle that weather (like Florida and Texas), but they forget that the more North you move, the less swamps you see (because adaptations in the environment are different).
@@MTMF.london I know. I am an American. I didn't say that we are unsympathetic, but rather unaware of what's going on in other countries. Meanwhile, here in Sydney we're freezing our nuts off in the coldest winter we've ever had - in a city that is designed for the heat, not the cold...

I literally just moved from Florida to England. Wtf. This is literally the weather I was hoping to get away from. Luckily I'm used to it. But yeah no AC in the house or the car (got a used car. Previous owner had it broken n never bothered to fix it)
While ceiling fans in every room are the standard in Florida, they're probably non-existent in jolly England.
@@victorpradha9946 Correct. We have fans here, but in the 6 years I've lived in England, I don't remember ever seeing a ceiling fan.

As to the topic of Europe lacking air conditioning: As odd as it may sound to an American person, but adding more current consumers to the game is the exact opposite to the correct answer to the question that is bothering us in Europe right now...
Exactly. I use fans and plug them into my laptop to charge and leave the lights off. It is nice going into the rare shop/pub with air conditioning (I'm in England), but air conditioning just contributes to climate change, so we can make it work without it.
Exactly! And frankly, I can get by without, and I am currently sitting in the middle of the heat wave. But the walls are thick (no drywalls), the shutters are closed, the night will most likely be too warm to sleep but I am sure I will manage.
its really frightful image that more and more people are buying ac, which in turn ups the heat outside. at some point we notice its just sand desert outside and locked in our relatively cool prisons
That is a social answer but for you to discount individual lives is also wrong. I’m not American and I don’t have a/c. But eventually I will get one because I’ll be older and it will be hotter.
The real problem is that people who have them overuse them. you want to get the 36 degrees down to 26, but setting it at 20 is unethical
I technically have AC, but have learned two fans and an ice pack in a towel at the small of my back works just as well.
Thank you all for being fun and good. It would be a shame for all of this to come to an end.

Those hearings won't be the same without you 🤭😂
I'm from California and have experienced 110 degree heat, but it was during a low humidity period on our coast. Now I live in Hawaii, which is far more humid than California. When it's 80 here, it feels like 100 degree weather in Cali. To be honest, I enjoyed that 110 degree weather, but it was DRY. I am sure I would have been miserable if it had been humid.
Never come to oz then.
Don’t go east we always have the humidity!
Not to mention I would imagine it would rapidly cool off at night.
I live and grew up in the Great Lakes area, but I lived in the Nevada/California high desert area and one thing people in those areas don't appreciate is how quickly the evenings cool off and become comfortable, while the east has the humidity that keeps that heat sweltering all through the night. The same is true for large parts of Europe I have visited.
The difference is Cali has desert and all of that... it's meant to be hot. Europe is literally not equipped to deal with that kind of heat.
Thank goodness you’re back!!🙌🙌🙌
