Yeah, but that's for people watching the show to follow what's going on. No matter the show, there's often a bit of nuance into various moves, and so having someone break it down for the fans is pretty typical. In the case of CCG anime, the players tend not to have the cards (or rulebook) in front of them, so having a character explain what they do is a stand in for the fact you can't lean over and read the card yourself. You also see this with some things like Naruto when, if a character does something particularly clever in an episode (or wins a fight 2-3 episodes later due to something they set up earlier), they do that black and white flashback thing while they explain it to the audience for the people that might not have understood it otherwise. 100% it's an "always that one guy that..." trope, but it's a trope that exists for a fairly good reason, I think...

There was a time skip. We see five people holding cards (dude who reacts to Yuno's +2, Yuno, cool dude who becomes interested in Yuno, villain, girl who reacts to +4) and yet we see the villain affect Yuno directly after his turn, something that would only be possible if there was a time skip. The fact that his name is Yuuno is still probably my favorite thing about this. Everything else is gold, but that name is so perfect that I just can't even. So obvious, but so necessary.
The game's pathetic, draw 2 was supposed to skip the opponent and make him draw 2. They didn't even use the stacking rule like draw 2 +2 +2... Pathetic
I almost bust a gut laughing at this. Then I showed it to my mom, and she didn't laugh at all. She was like, "Yep, that's an anime," and then she gave me a breakdown on the old anime that used to run on UHF stations.
You don't know how accurate you are. It happens all the time with older series based on weird things like this. We just never see them in there English speaking world
@@michaelzheng5250 If you don't say uno before playing your second last card and someone catches you before the next turn begins you have to draw 4 cards from the deck.
I didn't know that was a rule. I thought it was just common courtesy. Didn't realize that there was a penalty for not letting everyone know that you only have one, bright red, oversized, with bright yellow letters, card left in your hand.
Definitely my siblings and I trying to play an UNO spinoff where the cards are Monster High themed and bent so much that you can fold them and they stay that way.
That's because some of the speaking parts happen at the same time, but cannot be shown at the same time. If the internal monologue of the antagonist was heard at the same time as the explanatory dialogue between the supporting characters, it would be difficult to make sense of any of it, and a mood could never be established for the scene. Realistically, all the action must have taken place over a minute or less.
Cop: You ran over 9 people and killed 4 of them, you better have a good fucking reason for this or your going to jail Me: Um sorry officer *slowly pulls out a reverse card* I think you might need to rethink that.

The best part is he really didn't say Uno and that's a real rule that a strategist villain would forget. It's so realistic it hurts. Ohhhh gosh you're intelligent
This is so perfect! The underdog protagonist, the know-it-all best friend who explains everything, the useless romantic interest, the impressed veteran, the sexually questionable villain, everything!
Michael Mello if I had to guess, I’d say Yuno is obviously Yugi or Jaden, Black hair guy is Joey, fat guy who reacted to the skip Card is Tristan, Glasses Guy is a lot like Bastion, Yanagi(also reacted to the skip Card) is like Mai or Alexis, White haired guy(not villain) is like Kaiba or Zane, and the villain is pretty much any Yugioh villain. Mostly Pegasus and Zigfried, but really any of them work. Also, the girl at the beginning I can’t actually compare to a character other than maybe Tèa, but they seem different somehow.
Season two's villain is a duo who are in prefect sync. Yuno and his rival have to put aside their differences to win. Season three ends with a 3 on one match where they win by bouncing a draw 4 all the way back around and make the bulletin draw 24, putting him so far back that the deck runs out and all the souls trapped inside are refreshed. Season 4 is an ancient evil distorting the laws of the reality, tearing friends apart and tying enemies together.

Yes the uno reverse card definitely comes in clutch

Everyone's saying he put a red skip on a yellow but it seems like they're forgetting the anime rules aren't the same as the real games rules.
Zero Escape Thank goodness I am not the only one who's noticed the red skip on a yellow draw two.
no, he didn't put red skip card on yellow draw too. Unless there are only three players on the field.

Notice how Yuno's last card was obscured and black?
He has one last trick up his sleeve. Not gonna spoil it for you anime-only folks.
mijnisme I don't know, were there dinosaurs?

+mijnisme that's either a wild or a wild draw four

Main villain 1 card

Antagonist: Son of a BITCH
10 sec in and I love it already. The guy who explained the "Draw 2 cards" is literally in every anime somewhere and props for how scary accurate it is :D

The fun thing about looking at old comic dub videos like this is that you get to look at the credits list and see that half of them now are dominating the anime dub industry.
Now I realize why I can't take beyblade and yugioh seriously anymore.
What do you mean? Believing in the heart of the cards is totally legit!
Yes tots legit, but seriously everytime a kid gets a random deck of cards; it somehow is the key to a god, the apocalypse, another dimension, etc...
+Dapperblook Beyblade has the thing that push me out of anime when i was a kid.
Yup
+Dapperblook
How dare you insult Yugioh! I will have you know card games on motorcycles, card games on helicopters, card games on rollercoasters, card games on the moon, card games on rollerskates, card games on skateboards, card games in hell, card games with super saiyans vs demons, and interdimensional card game wars all while being super dramatic and crying sometimes and yelling at each other is not a laughing matter!
The best part is how the name of the Uno anime protagonist is Yuno.
Yuno Gasai
"Yuno no Uno".
yuno how it is

*You know* the usual

I like how every anime has a side character with glasses and that is smart
The next scene has to be him forgetting to say uno.
+Damien Talrose
"He had one card left. It seemed that all time stood still as he opened his mouth to utter the triumphant 'Uno!' But just as he was about to utter the two dreaded syllables, another, unwelcome voice cut through his concentrated glare.
"'Too late!' Yuno yelled in his face, and the resulting hesitation was all he needed. 'You forgot to say "Uno"!' Now it would be three cards to six. Now, Yuno could win."
It's from the light novel series, bruh. You should read it.

Yeah yugioh was great but UNO? A game that bot only has a spanish name but also is a very easy game to play we know how to win, lose and to use cards in our advantage and the only ones who wont know would be the new baby or kids in this centurie
The fact that his name is Yuuno is still probably my favorite thing about this. Everything else is gold, but that name is so perfect that I just can't even. So obvious, but so necessary.
And the fact that it could be a legitimate name
Unrealistic. The characters did not constantly break the rules for a more intense scene!
He put a Red skip turn card over a Yellow 2+ card.
@@tallestred8245 somebody call Percy because that's downright criminal

thats what I was thinking XD
That guy at the end, he will forget to say “uno” and will have to draw 2
Fluffle Truffle almost certain that it should be two. I dunno, you can check on Wikipedia to see the exact rules I think
@@michaelzheng5250 If you don't say uno before playing your second last card and someone catches you before the next turn begins you have to draw 4 cards from the deck.
Lord Bear are you sure it is 4 and not 2?
@@michaelzheng5250 some sources say 4 others say 2
I didn't know that was a rule. I thought it was just common courtesy. Didn't realize that there was a penalty for not letting everyone know that you only have one, bright red, oversized, with bright yellow letters, card left in your hand.
I love how the Yu-Gi-Oh! Music is playing in the background.
OMR SAME!😅
I mean Yu-Gi-Oh! is a card game so this was probably based off it. It matches so well though.
Lvnatíc yeah the guy explaining was like kaiba and the evil guy was like pegasus
And in one minute and 39 seconds, less than one turn of Uno happened. Yup. Definitely anime.
Definitely my siblings and I trying to play an UNO spinoff where the cards are Monster High themed and bent so much that you can fold them and they stay that way.
Dragonball Z: 17 Episodes spent charging an attack
17 Episodes 5 Minutes left for Namek. (or was it 22?)
And another 5 episodes will pass before that wild draw 4 will be played
Pokemon cards: ahhh I need more cards!!!!
Uno: Ahh get rid of the cards

This is so perfect! The underdog protagonist, the know-it-all best friend who explains everything, the useless romantic interest, the impressed veteran, the sexually questionable villain, everything!
Michael Mello "the sexually questionable villain" 😂😂😂
There is one thing that is not here... THE TSUNDERE!!
@@quarth9396 obviously the sexually questionable villain or the self-filled brat can and will become the Tsundere
The tsundere is missing!

Uno season two: Jump ins
Uno season 3: Stack +2s and +4s
Uno Ultimate: sevens and zeros
Uno, the weird remake: Dos
Season two's villain is a duo who are in prefect sync. Yuno and his rival have to put aside their differences to win.
Season three ends with a 3 on one match where they win by bouncing a draw 4 all the way back around and make the bulletin draw 24, putting him so far back that the deck runs out and all the souls trapped inside are refreshed.
Season 4 is an ancient evil distorting the laws of the reality, tearing friends apart and tying enemies together.
Uno ultimate sounds like it would be a really twist heavy season
The thing is, Dos is a real game
