There are some furries who dress up in public with the whole ears and tail (at least) I’ve seen it once in a while in public. Though it is extremely rare.
Warning, dumpster of somewhat useless information! Those are called fursuiters, they often are accompanied by one or two friends or family who help them navigate. As you might be able to guess, it’s not easy seeing through the eyes. It can also be difficult navigating stairs and corners, as well as defending yourself. (Although a surprising amount of furries have military training)
Public suiting can be a fun encounter tbh... ive only seen it once, but my mom had encountered it like 3 times lol. Gotten a picture too, great suits :3

On this certain bill tho, other people of our government have literally said that these bills are stupid and wasting our taxpayers money. OK, Benny, you know I love this channel. I've gone on - at length - about how much I enjoy it. But you missed one of the most important aspects of this story. Cat litter *is* used in some schools. And that's well documented. It has nothing to do with Furries, though. It's an incredibly sad commentary on school life in the USA that if there is someone wandering round a school with a gun and slaughtering intent, some schools keep bags of kitty litter in safe rooms so that petrified students have something to pee into until they're rescued. As a Brit (where gun culture is diametrically opposed to the American daily life), I don't just find it odd - I find it despicable that an unfortunate (but practical) practice has been turned from a potential response to extreme, life-threatening violence into a sexual perversion. I love America and its people. I've lived and worked in the country in the past. America and Americans are probably far greater people than most Americans realise these polarised days. But the glorification of violence and confusion and denigration of sex is probably the main reason I chose never to become an American.
I wish to add a little bit more to the litter thing. It's actually also used to clean up liquid spills, as it clumps it. And it's been used to clean up blood spills, or vomit, or any number of gross things. The point is, it's got more uses than just "furry shitting in a box" That being said.... I once shit in a friend's cat littler box as a joke. We're no longer friends.

My favorite part of any furry con is when you get to interact with open minded individuals who are not a part of our community, yet they show some interest since we are right there to talk to, and they see that we are not as strange as the media wants us to be.

Times are changing constantly. Back in the early internet days, “Everyone is furry for Krystal” was a thing, because being attracted to anthro characters automatically made you a furry. Nowadays, a lot of people find these characters attractive and don’t consider themselves furries (“I’m not a furry but….”). Nowadays you can have fursonas and STILL not be a furry. Today, a furry is only someone who likes to dress up as an anthro animal. It wouldn’t surprise me if in the future, dressing up in a fursuit doesn’t make you a furry. Times are constantly changing.

It's because the ones who are the 'aggressors' actions are so wildly cartoonish i'm starting to suspect this is a group of students who are doing this to defame furries instead of legitmate furries acting nuts... but I wouldn't be surprised based on what i'm seeing it sounds like the 'furries' in question had been tormented and harassed and the school didn't do jack sh*t to stop it... it's not surprising in my own school the cameras clearly caught the principles nephew throwing coins at me but he said 'I can't tell what he's doing'... and that proceeded until I shoved the dude in a locker and locked it... no one messed with me again the rest of my highschool career after he spent a period jammed in a locker... I got a suspension and during the meeting when the principle asked me 'what do you see on this footage' I told him 'I can't tell what i'm doing'. The look on his face was priceless and well worth it. It never made it outside the school what happened likely because they knew it was going to be a problem for them if it did. This seems to just be the modern version of what I did... less effective and causes more pain in the long run.

My favorite part of any furry con is when you get to interact with open minded individuals who are not a part of our community, yet they show some interest since we are right there to talk to, and they see that we are not as strange as the media wants us to be.

I love how anything animalistic that humans do is immediately associated with furries, and I fully believe that the litter-box claims are false (like there is no way someone seriously asked school officials for a litter box, and for them to take it literally is so irrational) and just a catalyst to start a political battle against furries, lgbtq, and anything out of the societal norm.

For me putting on my fursuit and going out with friends is just fun, it's an easy way to forget adult life and worries in an instant and just be silly.

Times are changing constantly. Back in the early internet days, “Everyone is furry for Krystal” was a thing, because being attracted to anthro characters automatically made you a furry. Nowadays, a lot of people find these characters attractive and don’t consider themselves furries (“I’m not a furry but….”). Nowadays you can have fursonas and STILL not be a furry. Today, a furry is only someone who likes to dress up as an anthro animal.
It wouldn’t surprise me if in the future, dressing up in a fursuit doesn’t make you a furry. Times are constantly changing.

The whole history of the furry fandom start with anime bootleg watch club, and the first furry character was the club mascot. (see down the rabbit hole and Ash coyote documentaries on the furryfandom)
My definition of what a furry is, base on everything I have seen so far is quite lose, however... give that we would have to spend days talking about the non-mammalians and also about the synthetic life form (I only know of one well know synthetic species, that is the Synth, there is also Airplane dragons but those vary) that are adjacent and even some furry have fursonas of.
I think is reasonable to use furry as a catch all term, and well here is how I define:
"A enthusiast of anthropomorphic characters with an animalistic appearance"

For me, when it comes to my being a furry nowadays, I do see myself as being a furry, but I used to not in fact, at one point, I used to hate furries, but I am one now, which is ironic, but anyway looking back growing up in my childhood lot of what I liked were a lot of Disney shows like tailspin, gummy bears bonkers ducktails darkwing duck Robin Hood, I absolutely loved Nickelodeon too, but little did I know that the Disney shows would eventually bewhat turned me into furry, I even had a few furry crushes then that I didn’t know were furry crushes at the time, other shows I really really liked were Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Pokémon
So far though, the only ones really knows about it is the people on the Internet, or at least the Internet circles that I’ve came out as being a furry too and my cousin and just my cousin who doesn’t mind but as for anyone else like my mom and dad my Grandparents, my sister and my cousins brother (I’ll refer to him as my other cousin) and my church is due to this whole stigma against Furrys as them being this “I think I’m an actual animal” thing which is what my parents think Furrys are
As for me being a furry though, I am one of them that is highly into the whole sexual side of things, but I don’t go out, running around announcing it or make it 100% my entire personality contrary to watch a lot of people probably think of furries, nor do I feel like I want to have sex with animals nor do I think I’m an animal

Others use it for fundraising often at events for animal shelters
Then there are those who use it as their public stand-in for work to maintain their private life while still being a performer either online or in person
Can't forget the artists who enjoy the craft and varied sources of expression that come with the furry fandom
(plus the bank you could make since it's one of the few places artistic skill and quality craft is still valued)

as a furry who typically aligns with republican lawmakers, i think this entire story is HILARIOUS! my entire time going through public school i saw people wearing cat ears and sometimes tails. they are NOT furries! (usually). when i heard about this oklahoma school thing happening, i thought that somehow students were affording full fursuits and wearing them to school, so i was confused. now i know that its just cat ears and tails which i think is WILD to try and make any legislation about. the litter box thing is pretty wild but people dont do that, especially not at schools. running around acting like an animal and being a nuisance should be punished of course, but trying to legally legislate the entire situation is wild. also, the bit about calling animal control sounds like something from south park which i think is hilarious.

Seems more like some kind of slander campaign.... or a bunch of REALLY stoo ped kids who were sick of being bullied by their peers.
The 'evidence' seems to show a group of people as 'furries' though the behavior the exihibit is more on the mockery side of a Therian and not a furry (from the mask, to the walking on all fours, and meowing/barking at people). It's because the ones who are the 'aggressors' actions are so wildly cartoonish i'm starting to suspect this is a group of students who are doing this to defame furries instead of legitmate furries acting nuts... but I wouldn't be surprised based on what i'm seeing it sounds like the 'furries' in question had been tormented and harassed and the school didn't do jack sh*t to stop it... it's not surprising in my own school the cameras clearly caught the principles nephew throwing coins at me but he said 'I can't tell what he's doing'... and that proceeded until I shoved the dude in a locker and locked it... no one messed with me again the rest of my highschool career after he spent a period jammed in a locker... I got a suspension and during the meeting when the principle asked me 'what do you see on this footage' I told him 'I can't tell what i'm doing'. The look on his face was priceless and well worth it. It never made it outside the school what happened likely because they knew it was going to be a problem for them if it did.
This seems to just be the modern version of what I did... less effective and causes more pain in the long run.
