Cant tell you how many job interviews ive said line at "if theres a steady paycheck in it, I'll believe anything you say"
Words to live by I do the same thing
Me: if there's a steady pay check in it I'll believe anything you say
Employer: we've told you and it's in the description when you applied...we pay minimum wage, no bonuses, 1% when overtime. I don't think this is job for you.
Me: ......(dopey laugh) that is fantastic I will. take it!!. Yea right!
Yup
Ditto and honestly kind worked out so far..( he says working at Jimmy johns slowly approaching 30)
For being the "blue collar everyman" of the group, Winston sure carried a lot of feathers in his cap
One thing I distinctly remember from the cartoon is that Winston is a big fan of Sherlock Holmes. This is revealed when The Ghostbusters meet the "ghosts" of Holmes and Watson. The ghosts are revealed to actually be phantasms created by the power of belief in the character's fans. This is a similar idea to how gods come into existence in many Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett stories, where belief in gods cause them to come into existence.
Sounds like a tulpa.
Reminds me of that one episode of Star Trek with Abraham Lincoln.
Why, yes, as a matter of fact I do need to hear Winston Zeddemore's life story.
My 6 year olds favorite ghostbuster is Winston. He got a Winston figure for Christmas, and carries around the Playmobil version of him around. Hopefully he gets his due in the new movie.
Winston deserves more RESPECT.
Thanks for adding depth to this much overlooked character..
I always thought that Winston was more relatable. If I was a Ghostbuster on a mission with one partner, I'd choose Winston.
Always my favorite Ghostbuster. I got to meet Ernie Hudson once, it was really cool. He, my nephew and I got our picture taken doing the 'It's Miller Time!'.
I always saw Winston as the logical voice of reason. One of my favorite parts of Afterlife is how excited he is to see Ecto-1 again. In the cartoon Ecto was his baby.
Great video, Winston deserved more exposition!
That's a lot about Winston I didn't know. When I first saw him introduced in the movie when I was a kid (even right now until I saw this video) I thought he was a random guy in the streets looking for a job. Now I see this guy is like the human swiss army knife. He's pack with all kinds of life experience.
I love the others, especially Egon. But Winston always has been and always will be my favorite Ghostbuster.
And here's my favourite Ghostbuster.
My daughter's favorite GhostBuster, this was perfect.
Winston Zeddemore is my favourite Ghostbuster!
The underrated Ghostbuster, and the one I most closely relate to.
Best ghostbuster
This was AWESOME!!!! I’m loving the stand-in footage from Ernie Hudson’s filmography as it correlates to the narration. I love how when mentioning Winston’s time in the armed services you included rare footage from a long forgotten, obscure Ernie Hudson deep cut, “The Dirty Dozen: The Fatal Mission” and 1996’s “The Substitute”.
My favourite Ghostbuster
And that's all the reasons why Winston is a badass.
That was cool. Winston has always been my favorite Ghostbuster.
My favorite is Egon, but I think the best ghostbuster is Winston, plus, Ernie is a very charismatic actor
I have always been a Winston.
Winston brought ray out of his shell and Egon more humor, ghost Train scene GB 2
Damn, Winston is way over-qualified to be a Ghostbuster.
It’s also funny how Ernie Hudson being a classically trained fine actor was sort of over-qualified for the Winston role too😂
Jesus.
Winston isn't an Every Man, he's James Bond.
Winston the one the only !! Thanks for the information there was a lot of things that i don t knew about Ernie Hudson
He’s my favorite ghostbusters
It's funny you showed a clip from Coming to America, considering Eddie Murphy was originally consider for the role, but turned it down so he could star in Beverly Hills Cop, which ironically beat out Ghostbusters for the highest grossing movie of 1984.
And Arsenio Hall was the voice of Winston in the Real Ghostbusters...
Technically GHOSTBUSTERS earned most money at the US Box Office in 1984. BHC earned most of its cash in 1985,although released december 1984.
5:05 put a smile on my face!
Because Ernie Hudson in real life
is spokesman for Car Shield Insurance. 🚖🚖🚕🚕
Saw his commercial of all dates Fri Sept 13th 2019. No joke!
The reference to Coming To America, and seeing Arsenio Hall was cool too, seeing as he voiced Winston in the cartoons :D
Dam, this is a lot of interesting backstory for Winston.
De Jules b You should check out the Ghostbusters Wiki.
Loving this channel. I can’t believe it took me so long to find it.
We are so glad you did!
Underrated, but well appreciated
Please never cover the remake. That needs to be forgotten. I loved how the cartoon expanded on Winston and gave him a real back story
What remake? I know of no remake?
@@ericstoverink6579 i think they meant the 2016 movie, but i see no reason to not cover it
I was so glad when the cartoon beefed up his history. The comic book is a great extension too.
Thank you for this video! Winston was definitely my favourite along with venkman growing up lol
wen Winston uttered that now un-pc sentence "I've seen shit that'll turn you white!" to the mayor of new york I was amazed that it hasn't been discussed in previous videos!
Really enjoying this series on the backstories of the 4 main GBs. Do you plan to continue with backstories on Janine, Dana, Louis, maybe even Slimer?
Winston always felt like the sanest member of the Ghostbusters.
Awesome content. Thanks for your work. Good Crew. Cheers from Ohio
Thanks for doing this video . Great Job .
@Channeling Spirits Sounds great, except for one little mistake, there is a moment on the game where Winston is talking to the guys while the SP Marshmallow Man is attacking and he himself says "That is DOCTOR Zeddemore", and Ray and Peter talk about him finally getting his Doctor's title. So he did indeed obtained his Doctor's degree and title.
Do you remember where this occurs? I poured over the script and found Peter replying to Illysa: "A doctor. And a fiery one too!" and Winston mentioning working on his doctorate but not necessarily completing it. Don't worry, by Afterlife seems to hint he does get his doctorate after all.
@@ChannelingSpirits I was watching the game play videos, I know it takes place in the street attack on the street and in the building. On the streets Venkman was getting coffee and in the building burning marshmallow goblins were attacking. Let me see if I can find the video and part and I will reply to you again with the link and time. There were other part when Winston also yells as they do to the ghost enemies he beats "That's Dr. Zeddemore to you, punk!" but I have looked for the gameplay video where I saw heard it a few times and I can't find it cause I only get the Remastered Gameplay videos, and so far 5 of them I have checked on I have not been able to hear it again. I saw the gameplay video after the game came out but in 2014.
Winston is and always will be the best Gostbuster
I'm glad that Winston was able to represent us in the faith ✝️
I saw him as a secret agent if sorts who slips away for behind the scenes reasons.
Bro the suits did him dirty in the show where they made him the driver of the Ghostbusters around the end
Good stuff, Man, Keep it up.
And stranger things said no one loved Winston. Great video and great info
Winston rules!
2:28 Santería! Aah!!! Thank you for mentioning that. That's the spiritual group my family converted to!
Yeah it makes sense Winston would imagine the stay puft marshmallow man. He’s the audience in that situation, and that’s probably what the audience would do.
My headcanon insists that while Winston learned Karate, he had a big 70s afro, like Black Belt Jones Jim Kelly
I’m totally on board with this.
5:40 Gotta wonder if that base was named as an homage to Kyle Reese.
6:09 "Former Marine" is the preferred nomenclature.
6:58 He'd probably get along well with Carl Stantz.
Always thought it was pronounced Zed-more
Me too
And to think Ernie Hudson is trading his proton pack for a quantum leap handlink.
Not sure why the video says he was transferred to Pearl Harbor. Pearl Harbor is a Navy Installation and he was a Vice President of a civilian alarm company named Sentry Alarms. By using the word "their" in the sentence, he was not referring to the military Pacific Command but instead a regional office for his company, which closed in 1984, not the deactivation of Pacific Command. As a VP, he would not be granted space on a military base due to contracting rules so was more likely headquartered in Honolulu or another close town (Also, Pacific Command is not on Pearl Harbor, but Camp Smith).
Regarding Winston's military history like you said he joined the Air Force for 5 years and made the rank of Captain and got out in 1975 then went back to working with dad for a few years until the sentry alarms came around and had it until 1982 when joined the Marines and being prior service and not a prior service Marine he had to do boot camp again and was only enlisted for two and half years due to prior service and spent a year and half or two years in Hawaii because of the half year of training then they shut it down ending his service and returning him to his home of record which was his mother's house and then a month later joining the Ghostbusters and that would explain both his time in the Air Force and Marines
1:08 that's Winston in Real Ghostbusters
Winston is too good for the Ghostbusters 😳
What is next? Keep up the awesomeness.
My theory is that Lucille Zeddemore was not a very good cook -- and whenever she made jello, Winston would hate it. Hence his quote from GB2.
Is she the mom or an aunt of Winston?
If you watch the extra post credit scenes of the Ghostbusters Afterlife movie, he became a successful global businessman.
Yay! You said his last name correctly! You should let Ghostbusters News how to pronounce it. Dude has always said it with 2 syllables.
It's ZED DEM MORE!
NOT, Zed More.
Every time I yell "Hello" in a Cave or Tunnel I always expect to hear a creepy deep voice that says "Winstooooooon" as a reply.
I'm glad Afterlife did him justice.
The Army calls it 'Boot Camp.' The Air Force calls it 'Basic Training.'
where is "Once a Peck, always a Peck"? 😂
So Winston is the Rambo of the Ghostbusters
39 seconds in i just seen veckman from his future o.o
“Tell him about the Twinkie.
Now you need to do one on how long it probably took them all to wash the liquid marshmallow out of their hair.
Jesus Christ... and why did they cut off Winston Zeddemore backstory? No wonder Ernie Hudson had love and hate with this character.
_Coming to America_ reference: touche'
You really didn't mention Shimabuku in this video? :o
With Afterlife out, we are redoing these history videos and that is actually on the least of additions!
Baseball Player
Construction Worker
Solider
Historian
College Masteral Doctors degree
Cab Driver
Train engineer
GHOSTBUSTER
I think Winston knows what his favorite job is.
Seems they forgot Shimabuku
Our everyman: my doctorate
11,500 a year in New York in the 80s. I dont think a fella could find a box to live in for those wages
Do a backstory video about Janine Melnitz.
I think giving Winston all those super military accolades and education really detracts from the idea that he's supposed to be an "everyman."
Winston is supposed to be the hardworking blue collar straight man. He's the audience insert into this crazy universe. How many people out there have a master's degree *AND* are former military *AND* have a black belt *AND* are arms experts *AND* a construction worker, and do it all by the time they're 40?
Ah a year later and you still have 0 dislikes
Way to jinx it, jackass.
Info gathered from IDW should always be taken with a grain of salt. They tend to make things up rather than rely on actual canon facts.
There may be one thing that has bothered me with Winston's History and it is never really stated and I don't believe it was really stated here as well but when Zed joined the crew he was exactly as was mentioned a skeptic and he really wasn't under employment for a long time up until the Grid was shut down and the ghosts escaped and even then he didn't want to associate with his crew when they were locked up but when in the Mayor's office, He had went on to say that he has "Seen things that will turn you white".
So my question is from the point he was employed to that particular scene, what moment happened to make him fully believe and that the Ghostbusters were legit and not some parlor trick.
Since he mentioned that he worked with them only for a few weeks, maybe Winston saw things that he initially thought was phony but was given a rather barebones view of the supernatural. With the types of ghosts that linger the Ghostbusters universe, I wouldn’t doubt that a normal joe like Winston continued to be a skeptic after seeing horrors capable of rendering sane minds blank.
Um, Ray was the one who conjured up Stay Puffed, not Winston.
Not in earlier drafts!
It took me listening to the vid (by rewinding the first part a few times) to realize the narrator says Zeddemore and not Xenomorph. Made me do a double take the first time I started watching... did this happen to anyone else?
Winston believed in the divine truth of a book with a talking donkey in it but was skeptical about the supernatural. Go figure.
he's the chauffer of ecto 1
Just in it for the money and he sold them out later in the movie saying he did't even know them.....Completely unnecessary character........but I guess he was there because....
There is literally hundreds of reasons and even facts about why Winston is an important member. He didn’t even say he didn’t know them, just that he wasn’t there when the containment unit shut down. Pretty sure after already being pinned down for being military, working with men who have gotten country to worldwide attention for catching and eliminating ghosts, demons and other entities wouldn’t fit well. And it’s the first movie fam, he’s known them for only a few weeks.
At least he was willing to testify to the mayor that they weren't crazy and they dealing with stuff that were unexplained to the naked eye or to your average joe
@@mnightshade107 exactly
@@whosmansisthis6624 yes exactly, his words were that "I just work with these guys, I wasn't even there" which was true. He had nothing to do with building or maintaining the containment grid or the proton packs either. Yet, instead of quitting, he was willing to die beside the other ghostbusters to save the world.
