Wanna practice Hungarian pronunciation? I recorded one word with each letter (sound) of the Hungarian alphabet. Remember, for effective practice you should sound out the words after me. If you want to practise the individual sounds check out this video of mine:

This is THE BEST hungarian instructional video I have ever come upon, with a clear portrayal of the letters, their names, and how they are pronounced. Good job.
Cheers Grace, glad you found it useful.
"give up?" Are you kidding me? I fell in love with this language! Thank you very much for sharing the beauties of Hungarian! Best wishes from Turkey
Why am I watching this xD
I'm a native Hungarian.. ^^
same
I'm Hungarian American living in America and was born in America.
me too, lol. but actually I was helping out a foreigner friend.
I don't know why I made these videos in the first place :)
Haahhahaha!!!
Revisiting this video about a month later and I’m proud to say that I’ve made progress. I almost have all of the sounds worked out. “Gy” seems to be the hardest and it’s used a lot in my proactive because of the references to Hungary and Hungarian (Magyar). Thank you for making this video. Köszönöm!
My wife's name is Györgyi. After 30 years I still can't pronounce her name the Hungarian way! Pretty hopeless really ... 😎
I am so glad I am not the only one!
Just discovered these lovely videos! so helpful....My parents were hungarian but they passed away when I was only 21 and since then I had no chance to practice so forgot almost everything. These videos bring it back. I need to relearn Hungarian in just 2 months as I am going to visit there and the older people don't speak English. Two months! at least I still have the pronunciation right (more or less).
So grateful for these!!
Glad to know that "Ember" in Hungarian is pronounced the EXACT same way in Indonesian! Only difference is that here it means "Bucket" :)
Wow, you always learn something new!
And in English it means "smouldering, dying fire" - no flames just coal or wood that is still burning.
Mister, thank you for recording this video. I am Polish and find learning new languages fascinating. Therefore, I have recently decided to learn Hungarian. I have already learned English (MA) and German (B1) and I hope knowledge of these two (or three, counting Polish) will help me learn Hungarian. Thank you for your work.
I'm the same way. I'm a native English speaker learning Spanish and German. I also have a fascination with Hungarian. I would recommend a great movie in Hungarian called Kontroll. Also watching the smurfs on RUclips (in Hungarian) has been helpful. Good luck and let your curiosity burn like the sun.
In Polish, "vers" is pronounced almost the same and it means the same. We write it "wiersz", though. Maybe you know it, but i'll say it: in Polish "sz" is pronounced like your "s" and "s" is pronounced like "sz" :)
Wow! Thats teally interesting, good to know
As far as I know "kurwa" has also the same meaning...
dzsem and dżem are also the same :)
I wonder if the Poles decided to designate those sounds with the opposite letters or Hungarians. It seems to me whoever did it, they did it just to be different. 😁😁
Ty=Cz, Gy=Dz, Dz=z,
I love those videos you make. Köszönom! The doromb is also a traditional Austrian instrument. We call it "Maultrommel" or "Brummeisen". It is still manufactured in Upper-Austria and a typical instrument for Folk Musik here.
And it is an Italian folk instrument too, typical of Sicily.

Hello from amazon. I chose to learn this language at ramdom. After watching your videos, i simply adhered to it. Thanks for the great work!
Thank you for sticking with me. Wow, Amazon. I've got followers in the most exotic places :)
true, man. I wonder if there are any other brazilian hungarian speakers up here in the Amazon river. Anyhow, you're the one. Thanks forever.
Abraços de SP!

@@danielfrigyesvala3924 If your offer still stands I would like you to help me out if you want, I started learning Hungarian and I need someone to talk to so I can practice..
Kössönöm from Sárok Barania (Hungary) were my Californian wife and my Belgian self are retiring, and loving it. Great people here !
You are the best Hungarian tutor, on RUclips. And the funniest by far. Keep up the good work.
Man,
You are lovely mad!!
You helped me a great deal. I am trying to memorize A walesi bárdok by Arany Janos.
Cheers from Brazil and Wales.
Hats off to you Edmundo!
Greetings from Kanada! Excellent video -- please make more.
Köszönöm!
Nagyon szívesen :)
love it! the only thing that was confusing is that it seemed like you were saying the name of the letter versus the sound it makes. it took me a minute to figure that out after watching the video with the sounds of each letter.
I decided to focus on the sounds and didn't want to do the names of letters. It would have been confusing and they are less important in my opinion.
Thank for this video. This is really helping me to remember Hungarian. Saludos desde Chile
Thank you. Cheers from Hung... actually I live in London :)
Koszonom szepen Vietnambol! Szeretem ahogy beszelsz. jo lene ha tovabb csinalnad.
e videokkal tanitom gyerekeim.
Why do you teach your kids to hungarian? Miért tanítod a gyerekeidet magyarul?

Thanks for the nice videos! Without cheating, I remember the last word "zsiráf" is giraffe in English.
I am really enjoying your videos! Keep it up!
Wonderful teacher
Great class! I know Hungarian is one of the most difficult languages ever, and I love challenges. So, I'm in! :)
Yep, it's the Himalaya of languages :)
Köszönöm from Tokyo!

Very useful for me to learn Hungarian language, I am living in Hungary now, need to practice my Hungarian everyday
Szia! Greetings from Western Massachusetts. I went to Hungary several times while I was living in Prague for three years. I spent time in Gyor, Budapest and my favorite; Lake Balaton. At that point I was teaching English and trying to master Czech, so as much as I tried to dabble in Hungarian my brain was hardwired for Czech (plus I was with Czech friends when I went). Now that I have some time I have been turning my attention to learning Hungarian which always fascinated me. I find your videos perfect. After stumbling for the past year trying to find a good resource I came upon your lessons. Please keep them coming as you teach so well. Your style is very similar to the way I tought - Introduce - Repeat - Reinforce and always use Music. I am still quite the beginner but you helped me count, greet people correctly and learn the pronunciation which was always my problem. Köszönöm!
Thank you so much! Here's my new video: ruclips.net/video/Dkori4LupDc/видео.html
I'm Polish and many of these letters are pronounced in opposite way here for example: sz = sh, s=es or ly=el
Thank you for making those amazing videos which absolutely helped me a lot!
thank you very much for the videos. Interesting to watch them and learn something new
(nagyon köszönöm a videót. Érdekes nézni őket és tanulni valami újat🙂☺️)
Hola, muchas gracias por tus vídeos, son muy graciosos y muy buenos, köszönöm szépen... 😉😆
No, I haven't given up...yet :D Hungarian language is just pure fun to learn and I got a few friends from Hungary so why not right. I'm czech by the way and can speak english and german too. Why not add this interesting language to my collection? Though not gonna lie, it's not easy.
Awesome !! I fell in love with a very handsome Hungarian and he is now in Budpest studying and going to college this spring. But, I'm visiting Hungary for a month this Christmas and your videos have been very helpful. And you're funny and I love good music so I approve. Haha I need all the help I can get. I only remember rizi-bizi which I believe is rice and beans. I would love to get a few words down.
Nice! It's great to know people find my videos useful. Hope you can apply your knowledge in Hungary.
PS: rizi-bizi is rice and peas :)
This was super helpful! I paused before you said it so I had time to guess.
As someone who speed solves Rubik's cubes, I have to point out that the top face colour is white and is solved and therefore the front face can't have white on it. Also the Red face is solved but we won't waste anymore time on that.
If you want to make that T with a Rubik's cube take a solved cube and do this: R U R' U R' F R F' R' F R F' R U' R' U R U2 R'
The Letter is the face of the cube. R=Right face, F=Front face, etc
A normal letter is a 90 degree turn clockwise, a letter with ' is 90 degrees counterclockwise, and a letter with 2 as in U2 is a 180 degree turn. So U2 is the U faced turned 180 degrees.
Have fun!
Fair enough. Hungarians shouldn't disrespect the Rubik's cube, right? :) Thanks for the tip!
Can't thank you enough. I watch this video and your alphabet video once each every day.

Hey you crazy Hungarian you! We have not given up with the studying, but it seems you have given up on posting video's for us. Your video's are very helpful and please post some more.
Hey Karen, I'm back! Here's the new video: ruclips.net/video/Dkori4LupDc/видео.html
What took me so long to see this video. Thanks for making it
Szia! Köszönöm szépen for your great job!!! Doromb is a sicilian instrument as well, we call it Marranzano :)
As a English speaking Hungarian American, I'm pretty good at pronouncing these words.
Köszönöm szépen! the doromb was awesome also! loved it
This was brilliant, though as an English speaker I find it really hard to say the R in the Hungarian language, maybe you could make a video about harder to say sounds and words.
Lot of hungarian children find it really hard to say too. If they are not perfect, we say 'raccsol'. Some adult could not say it right in his all life.
Until before to this day I pronounce Magyar as Mag-yar then I found out it wasn't the right pronunciation so shift to saying Ma-Jiar but then I found your video only then I found out the correct pronunciation. Always were intrigued and interested in Hungarian history and now Language...I really like to learn Hungarian now
your videos are great ! I hope you will posting more, so far I like them the most

Amazing. Köszönöm
Thank you!!!! Very helpful to a beginner
It's very helpful, thank you so much!
Thank you for your video!
Very helpful, very well done!
The plain “a” sometimes sounds like “a” and sometimes it sounds like “o”
same pain in ass trying to understand how A really sounds.
A = Awe
Á = Apple
Excellent!
Obrigado
Excellently done, Kosonom. The dzs and gy sound very similar to me. Are they essentially the same or is there a subtle difference that I am not hearing. My grandfather spoke Magyar as a young child and translated for my great grandparents who were from Hungary. I hope to learn enough to visit their home.
the gy sound is more like a d sound followed by a semi vocalic y sound(like in yes) while the dzs sound is just the same as english's j sound
exactly, it's a palatal stop
I think sh sound in hungarian is more common, thus, all the s combinations pull the sounds to sh like, zs=voiced counterpart of sh while z is voiced counterpart of s, cs=ch while c=ts and so on so I GUESS it can make some sense
Hugs from Brazil... tks :)
