    It kills me to watch reviews of Moto devices where there's no mention of, let alone a fulsome account of, the Ready For desktop mode. Half of this video was about the camera, at a time when virtually all flagship cameras are matters of case-by-case preference - they all look the same after being churned through filters and uploaded to Instagram. Ready For is a real differentiating feature and shows people that these literal pocket PCs can be so much more than a camera with social media feeds.

    I bought a Samsung S23 Ultra and didn't like it. I mainly didn't like the controls that Samsung puts in their OS for navigation, but the phone was also heavy and had a boxy feel which was not comfortable to hold. I returned it, and decided to wait for Motorola to come out with a flagship in the US. I bought this 5 days ago and love it. Seeing the phone in a video doesnt do it justice. It's much lighter, the screen is awesome, the camera's do almost as well as the Samsung, it's wayyy cheaper, and I love that Motorola gives you a stock android experience and adds features that only make the experience better. Not to mention 'ready for' is really cool. Don't discount Moto. They're finding their way

Anyways, I've recently been considering an upgrade and since I've come to LOVE the software that moto makes out of android and the layout and stuff... I'm gonna buy this... since this is still keeping up with all the higher end phones while not costing 900-1300$... like you said those extra Benjamin's may not seem like much but damn it helps. Just got this phone yesterday, the fact my old moto g stylus 5g 2021 had it's screen shattered yesterday overshadowed the fact of me just immediately going out and getting this phone as an upgrade for $300. It's still technically day 1, but now that I'm over that my old phone is dead, i'm enjoying my edge+ a lot and it seems to be pretty damn solid. i am missing my sd card expansion only because i like the ability. i know i'll never use more than 512gb of storage in my phone and i got google cloud storage 2tb so i'm set, but I still would like the option. no headphone jack hurts, but i've moved onto bluetooth entirely (pixel buds pro).
    seems like a real good phone, especially for $300. (boost mobile)

    I only had one Moto phone and it was the Moto x pure. I truly liked it but... Updates were like pulling teeth. Then after about 15 months the battery started to shut off the phone at about 20% charge. I tried to replace it myself and accidentally cut the power cable. So, that's my experience. Noones talking about the build. Glass, metal, plastic? You did get close, when you talked about the curved screen. But stopped short. My phone now is the Pixel 3 XL. I love the front facing stereo speakers, the high resolution screen and build quality. And it preforms fine but... I'm at my os update limit at android 12 and battery life is... only about 4 hours screen on time. But if I let it sit and only do calls, I get about 2 days stand by time.
    Anyway, am looking at the edge plus 2022. For around 275 bucks. New in box. But it's not a necessity so I shop around, a lot.
    Thanks for the review. You always do a good job. But how about that build?

    Zoom expressed as a 35mm equivalent focal length in the Portrait mode is a very neat thing imho. Maybe it is a gimmicky feature, but I kind of like it. Afaik there are 24, 35, 50 and 85mm and which should, imho, be complemented with 28 and 40mm as well. Also, I don't see the reason why it should not be available as an optional feature in the Pro (or even Photo) mode as well. It is really a way how a photographer perseves the world more than having background blurred

      Hey there! OnePlus 11 was my previous phone and I switched because of the Moto having wireless and reverse charging, much better water protection and more capacity. The only thing i miss is the super speedy charging😢, but you know, we can't have it all. As of battery life, I'm on my 3rd day only wirelessly charging it on my car for about 20mins a day. No regrets at all when switching to the Moto one.

    Genuinely baffled they went from a fantastic side mounted fingerprint scanner to ANOTHER mediocre optical scanner. Yes, the screen scanners are cool, but unless its ultrasonic its inferior to just about every other iteration of capacitive scanner.
    That being said, Moto's software improvements and gestures are almost the entire reason to own a Moto. My Edge Plus (2022) is unique because of that shake for flashlight function, and I literally use it every day. Coupled with the 144hz screen, 68w fast charging, and great battery life - its been an awesome phone. Just needed more case selection... that has been terrible.

      LG V60 was one of the first phones in the U.S. Market with an under-screen fingerprint scanner. Saying your big words doesn't necessarily mean it's inferior. Simple can work too, not everything has to be complex to work well. If anyone tries to use my fingerprint scanner it will not work, but mine will. I'd say other than when my phone is having a hiccup (aka, the reason why I'm watching these Moto Edge+ 2023 videos) it will skip a beat and ask me to scan again, but max is usually 3 tries. If not first try, it will sometimes just take a second and then try again. But overall a nearly seamless, extremely quick process to scan myself in

    I'm extremely intrigued by this device. My OnePlus 11 is having issues and they are doing everything in their power to not help me with my warranty claim. So, I'm stuck and I'm severely sick. I need something ASAP. I like this one and will probably be my choice. With Gen 2, are to a point where the 8gb of ram are sufficient? I don't game on my phone, but I'm definitely still a heavy user. I know they have the option to allocate a part of the HD over to processing power. But has anyone actually noticed a difference with that done? Also, my BIGGEST question. Are there any other unlocked devices available in North America that are in that price or below that you feel performed better and would recommend over it? Thank you for your help. For info, I can get this for 500 USD new at the moment and I can't seem to find any better options. So, it looks like I will probably have this in a day or two. Excellent review and video as usual :)

    Motorola why did you remove the power fingerprint sensor. That is my favorite feature on all their phones and the chop flash light. Its unnatural to try and unlock the phone with the screen when you hand it already gripping the sides.

    Can you consider moving from a pixel 6a to this phone an upgrade in camera perspective? I know everything else the moto kills the pixel

  • @JarrodBush
    @JarrodBush Год назад

    I really like what I've seen of this phone but have a couple things to keep me from pulling the trigger. First, I have a Pixel 7 Pro. Would this really be an upgrade? I feel like in some ways yes, in others no. I don't use the camera daily but when I do use it, I use it a lot and usually in difficult lighting situations like concerts. How does the Moto hold up there? I'm also leery of only having optical zoom to 2x (digital to 20x I think I heard elsewhere). The Pixel 7 Pro starts at 5x and goes to 30x. Their algorithm is 2nd to none when it comes to camera and their AI editing tools are really nice. The 2nd issue is updates. When is this phone getting Android 14? I already have it on my Pixel so how long am I going to be stuck on 13 before getting the update? I need speedy updates so that is also a concern. Also there are a few other Pixel exclusives that I would miss (e.g. call screen) that there are not workarounds for. In the end I'll likely go to Pixel 8 but will definitely be keeping my eye on Moto (and a couple other companies like Nothing) to see how it plays out.

    • @smeim0
      @smeim0 Год назад

      I had pixel 7 before getting motorola. Pixel wins in pictures and video in all aspects and especially in harsher lighting conditions. Sometimes i feel like their camera software is 5 years behind of other companies. Even thought there has been regular security updates i can almost guarantee you that android 14 will not be before summer. Other than cameras motorla has been better in all other aspects. Much brighter screen in sunlight, fingerprint reader that works instantly with 100% accuracy and oh boy the mighty battery life which is atleast the double to what pixel offered.

    • @stacyanderson1593
      @stacyanderson1593 Год назад

      I'm thinking of holding onto my Pixel 7 for special photography and trading in an older Samsung Galaxy to get this Moto Edge +. The battery life on the Moto Edge+ is exceptional, look at some of the 2023 lists of phones with the best battery life and this phone is in the top 3! Everything about this phone reviewers are praising, only drawback for some reviewers is the camera is not equal to Samsung S23 ultra, Google Pixel 8 pro & the latest iPhone. Well many phones cost much more than this one and also have cameras that cannot compete with the big boys.. I do have some concerns with updates, however, I'm going to take Motorola at their word and count on 4 years. I never keep a phone for longer than that anyways. Unless the OnePlus 12 is irresistible and priced well, this will be my next daily driver. I like software close to stock android and do not like how Samsung doubles up on so many apps and the UI is just too busy for my taste. I also do not like the "brick" that the Samsung Ultras have turned into. I liked their ultra style before it became the "Note". I may be in the minority here but that's alright, I don't think I'm the only one. I'd go for the Samsung Galaxy+ but it looks so boring and like every mid range Samsung phone now. If Google could greatly improve the Pixel's battery life I would stick with the Pixels, hands down, however, I can't deal with a phone that's battery drains like crazy the minute you get off of WiFi and use 5g service. My 84 year old Mom recently broke her hip and I ended up staying with her at the hospital without a charger with me ( so having to borrow nurses chargers, so embarrassing) and my Pixel 7 wouldn't last half a day while my Mom's Moto G power from 2021 was lasting 2 1/2 days. How crazy is that, it was a wake up call for sure...

    Wish the phone launched in India too. It looks so good, and Moto were doing good with their past pro models, but for some reason decided that launching the pro would be a bad decision this year.

    For half the price of an Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max, the refresh rate is higher at 144, screen size is the same, 256GB is the same, battery and the battery size is slightly less at 4400. Motorola's stock price is a reflection of their sales obviously and are trading now at or near their all time high.
