  • For today's free wire wrapping tutorial, I want to share with you my Witch's Hat design, with not one, but two techniques today.
    Based on my design from 2016, I've brought this right up to date with both chunky fun themed beads and charms, and a lush selection of seed beads.
    I've chosen to work in heavier gauge or frame wire, to ensure that these designs can be worn for years to come.
    I don't tend to work with seed beads as I don't possess the manual dexterity, eyesight nor hand/eye coordination to thread them, so please forgive the slight pause as I get the little thingies onto the wire!
    Hope you have as much fun with these designs as I have, love, Jem xxx

    I have followed many tutorials on RUclips for wire wrapping and crafts with moderate success. Then I found you and you kept saying "warm the wire" which has changed everything! I am now making projects with great success. Thank you very much 😊

    Is copper easier to use for wire wrapping?

    • @JemHawkes
      @JemHawkes  2 года назад +1

      Raw copper is wonderful, I use quite a soft wire which is perfect for making sweeping curves, plus it's solid copper so even if you mark the surface there is no colour change, unlike with plated wire. The only downside for some folk is that it turns really dark quite quickly. I'm like that look, but it's not for everyone.

      @@JemHawkes that you for the info. I also like the patina look of copper. I have trouble with wire wrapping, my hands don't work, lol. But I keep trying. So 16/18 gauge copper wire would be better then 16/18 gauge silver colored wire??

      You can buy very soft (fully annealed) silver to work with which acts similarly to soft raw copper in wrapping. It might be worth you purchasing a small quantity to trial. I love the raw copper, it's just so fluid xxx
