    I love the sheer lack of emotion from Steel when he killed those shitters. For them, killing bad red man was the most important day of their lives. For Steel, killing shitters was Tuesday.

    PvE is arguably very easy so I think they need to balance every weapon and ash of war properly. PvP is bad for multiple reasons but a reason that stood out to me was because of PVE.

      Yeah, PvE balance is pretty poor. Most attacks on every moveset has no purpose, ashes & magic is too strong, and powerstance just does double damage for no reason so you can just spam jump attacks with them.
      People like to say that this game was built without PvP in mind, but I’m pretty convinced that this game wasn’t built with your character in mind whatsoever.

    The game itself is fundamentally broken. DLC will not fix it. 17th rebalance patch will not fix it.
    It's time to move on with life.

    I hope they really tone it down for the next game they do. Much less ranged/aoe bullshit. Not every special weapon needs to have a spell attached to it.
    Hell maybe just make another game like bloodborne where it's 90% melee and only a few builds have access to ranged options that are worth a damn.

      The weird thing is they can make really cool, flashy melee ashes of war that feel impactfull without making every one just projectile number 208. In fact the ashes are cooler when they AREN'T just another projectile, like the splitleaf from ds3 is a good example, strong bordering on too strong while being a big anime flip and looking cool, but it isn't another annoying long range projectile to keep in mind when fighting three shitters that it might come flying at you from off screen...

      @@RLQFK this is why dynast’s finesse is my favorite unique ash of war, becausd it does something really interesting, powerful, and flashy while not being too over the top, an aoe, or a projectile

      They really just need to balance these ashes and spells. Like moonviels transient moonlight shouldn’t be a flat out superior version of unsheeth. Make it consume a fixed percentage of mana regardless of mana level to prevent spam. Maybe 2 casts and you have to drink a blue. Same goes for big aoe spells/ ashes like wave of gold, ritual spear, dragon breath, etc. this way you would have to be mindful of when you use your super powerful cool looking attack rather than just spam it like its your only attack

    10x of lore
    10x the drip
    10x the character design
    10x the cosplay potential

    Elden Ring would be a lot more balanced if every spell and ash of ward costed a lot more but you also had a small amount of FP regen that increased for a short time if you hit melee hits (melee ashes of war like spinning slash wouldn't count). It would hurt spamming a lot but it would encourage people to mix their spells with some melee hits and would help those that want to use a spell or ash of war every now and then but doesn't want to put many blue flasks or invest in mind

    Tbh the fact that melee builds can also be pseduo casters is a net negative for the overall PvP experience. But this is nothing new. Even Ds2, which was arguably the most PvP focused in the series, still had the issue of spell spam, and hexes took stamina from your character if they connected with you. These games never have and never will be a "balanced" PvP experience. Even with the separate balancing, the game is still fundamentally broken in its design. This game series, for as long as i have been playing it, can't, won't, and shouldn't be balanced like a fighting game. And I say that as someone who also enjoys fighting games. But the souls games simply don't have the same level of execution required to deal large damage to your opponent, and there is a plethora of other things that just make this an unsuitable "competitive" game. So, at this point, I just embrace it for what it is. It is a fundamentally broken but fun experience that shouldn't be taken seriously. And if I want a serious melee focused fighting experience, I will go play the genre that has been doing so since the dawn of arcade gaming.

      If they shouldn’t try to balance it out properly, then they shouldn’t have it. There’s a reason why almost nobody that plays souls actually sticks around for the pvp.

      @sauce987654321 I disagree there. They can at least improve a few behind the scenes workings to make it a more approachable system. On launch PS bleed or frost anything was just absurd but they reined it it and made it actually possible to deal with.

      @@realmshifter9102 No, they should update it. Because invasions are a thing and players that don’t necessarily want to PvP while co-oping have to deal with Fromsoft’s mistakes. It would be a bad look for them to never fix anything. That’s not what I mean.
      What I mean is they probably shouldn’t add PvP to their game to begin with if they literally designed the entire game without PvP in mind. The fact that PvP was absolutely abysmal on release proves that they didn’t.
      Mind you, I do want PvP in these games. What I don’t want is uncooked PvP only for them to take nearly two years to make it decent at best, when it could be so much more.

      @sauce987654321 That has been the case with literally every souls game.They always start out a broken and buggy, and then they go in later down the line and fix some of the issues, but new ones always crop up and then a few patches after the DLC the game becomes unsupported and no longer gets updates. That is the cycle of all Fromsoft games. If I wanted a true PvP game made by Fromsoft, I'd want it to be a fundamental balance core that impacts the gameplay loop. But that's not what the souls games or Elden Ring are. They are Action RPGs where stats, numbers, and items you have matter. And that massive variance is problematic by itself for an ideal PvP experience. Can they make it better, yes. Will it ever be truly balanced? I don't think so.

      @@realmshifter9102 I get it’s always been like that. They should stop doing that. It’s an unorthodox way of developing their PvP and they should grow out of that. I can only imagine how many people opted out of PvP entirely after playing it around launch and thought “Wow! This is trash!” This approach by Fromsoft only harms the PvP community, or rather the potential PvP community they could have had if they abandoned their “if it’s broke, fix it later” approach.
      Either they don’t have PvP at all, build their game with PvP in mind, or release the option to PvP at a later date when it’s ready. With their current method, everybody loses. They take away time and effort to implement broken PvP when this time could have been spent elsewhere. Right now, it’s much better than it was on release, but too bad it was so bad on release that it killed a pretty large percentage of potential players because it was broken for months.

    Did they want to simplfiy the game? Ehh maybe BFT melts and is from a mandatory boss. But I think it's more, "let's give the player a flashy move to reward them!" Which in balancing(especially on the pvp side)got out of hand.

      I agree that Elden Ring was initially developed with 100% PvE in mind, but moving forward it has all been PvP related patches.
      Fromsoft cares about the PvP. They’re not just good at figuring out how to balance it all.

    is it just me or did facestabs and lagged out grabs feel better than the two step confirm system... went back to dark souls remaster and yeah it was a meme but the grab game is so fun and i managed to feel it out in like a day or two to a point where i can land them consistently. here it feels like latency has too much of a role in the outcome of the fight
