Yet at the same time it has the same meaning. The selection progress could be great in terms of loss. but to those that are loved to be stripped in that such a manner would be taumatic in any case. Luna would prevail as Nightmare Moon is just an alter ego
Haven't I said that? They might evolve, but thousands would die in the selection process. Maybe the change would be too drastic, and what if the circumstances reversed? Would that eliminate the few remaining?
That's the thing. Luna might not, but Luna and Nightmare Moon are not entirely the same, as they are not entirely separate. Would Luna overcome NM in that scenario? Would NM relinquish once she saw the effect? She did it for want of love, not out of love. Small distinction, big difference.

Yes! May Celestia fall and Luna rise once more! But... Maybe a little sun would be nice, for crops n' stuff.
Lets use astronomy, I'm kind of working on music atm so excuse me if i miss something lol even if it were to be eternal night, it would still be sunny on the other side of the planet. the rotation of the planet stops is pretty much what I mean. I doubt it would have a drastic negative effect on life, but there would be an effect nonetheless

Astronomy is not my strong suit, but I seem to recall there being a planet in the solar system where the dark side is cold as space, and the other is boiling hot? If the planet became stationary, one side would be in eternal daylight, which would cause havoc with the water cycle, and the other would be caught in eternal night, which would stop all photosynthesis.

Although there are already certain plants and insects that need fires to survive, and it's quite possible a new species or new variety would arise from the sunless conditions, thousands would still die. Word of God is Luna was infected with dark magic in order to become Nightmare Moon.
Why are those names bad? Lady of Darkness, since when is Darkness an inherently bad thing? Mistress of the Night, well, isn't that what she is?
Sombra sounds like sombre, which means gloomy.
Life? Certainly. But by a definition that we could use? Not so much. Archaea bacteria would probably be very pleased with the outcome of super volcano going boom, but anything larger would probably die.

Where did you get the sun and moon pic. I have been looking for it everywhere and can find the damn thing.
What purpose does the sun serve? Without the sun, we would die. We can only survive its lack for so and so long before we whither like plants or freeze to death. Luna is not evil, but think what an eternal night, Nightmare Moon's intention, would do to the world. There would be no diversity, everything would be the Arctic in the depth of winter.
The motivation might not be evil, but the deed would be.

Hmm... I feel we might need to reach an agreement on what Nightmare Moon really is. We aren't too far apart, I think, but I'm not sure our definitions overlap... Or maybe they do. Clarification!

at the same time, per se. we do not understand why she did what she did. Not enough of information was given for her deed. and keep in mind its a fantastical land. Things could flourish in fire for all we know. there is no telling. But I was refereeing to how ppl portray her name. Lady of Darkness, Mistress of the Night etc etc. Luna is not a bad person in any way and names like that is almost like being called Sombra(Shadow)
ot very good at linguistics are you? But thats an assumption lol. It does Luna no justice to view her as evil and is death not part of the natural life cycle? Regardless of how its done? The names I've provided gives her a more evil tone, darker, sinister. when she is far from that. even in the first episode "Pilot Mare" she just seemed pissed off and misunderstood. I caught that quick when she quoted "Somepony who actually remembers me" Sombra is Spanish for Shadow.

Yet there is life on earth that thrive on it? Remember evolution, if endured long enough the body will adapt. If its a drastic change like the Ice Age, then yea there'd be a problem. But I doubt Luna would let her subjects she loves so dearly perish like that. think about it, she did what she did out of love for her subjects, her being shunned is what made her the way she was. It was more internal hurt than hate outright.

Do you know how many titles real life royalty has? Dozens! It might just be the same principle, and I think some of those titles sound pretty bad-ass!
Not contradictory. You need water to live but if you drink too much you die. It's the principle of everything in moderation that applies here. Darkness isn't bad unless the amounts are excessive.

Cont- its just ppl seem to just throw names for Luna that just do not seem to fit her. She quotes she is the Princess of the Night. Does she ever quote anything other? Even as Nightmare Moon? And your last post kind of contradicted itself in a manner of you saying thousands would die from lack of sun, then saying what is wrong with darkness. ??? Made me scratch my head.

We are, she is, but we are not Nature, and our reasons are not those of Nature. Sometimes our reasoning is fair, often not. Not in this case. We are not above Nature, we are a pretentious part who tries to stand apart and, even, above. I'm sorry if I implied otherwise.
A thousand years... It freezes the soul to even think of such a timeframe, much less of it being spent on the moon, captive inside your own hatred. Unable to even utter her anguish... She should have gone mad.

No, death is a natural part of life, but not no matter how it's done. While disease is sad, murder is heinous, one is death by Nature's hand and the other by human's, one is worse. Nature would have let the sun and moon rotate, so a stationary moon would not be death by Nature's hand, but by Nightmare Moon's.
That's not quite the impression I got. To me, she seemed earnestly malicious.
