The cool thing is that Scully doesn't even hide the annoyance of knowing that Diana Fowley was someone in Mulder's past. And the reaction, clearly, is not jealous of a friend. It is jealousy of a woman who loves the guy, and who no longer makes concessions for someone else to take the space that, rightfully, is yours. Great scene.
It's exatcly because of scenes like this that I think "What Chris was talking about when he said that Mulder and Scully are platonic?" I think he needs to do a rewatch. Season 3 episode 12 and 13, Scully is so jelous of Mulder, not in a friendly way. And now she is jelous again. I love Scully, because, like you said, she doesn't hide her disappointment.
Gillian is such an awesome actress! The way she is able to present her jealousy just by way of facial expressions and voice tone is magnificent! We can feel what she’s feeling: the nervous twisting in her stomach at finding that Diana was more to Mulder than just someone he used to work with. And the knot in her throat at realizing Diana was there at the beginning of the Xfiles, which have become her life’s work alongside HER partner, Mulder. She feels threatened perhaps of losing them both to Diana and it SCARES her. I could feel it all just by watching her in this scene.
Exactly that! And her fears come to life later, in Two Fathers One Son, when Mulder defends Diana and does not believe Scully . In that same room…with the poor guys watching 😅
All great shows are those where you fall completely in love with each character and know them very well. In this scene, I love how you just have to enjoy it when Scully tells them to review the data with an eye to the parapsychological, because THATS NOT LIKE HER! And you understand completely their reaction and frohike’s comment “taking a walk on the wild side.” If you hadn’t watched a single episode before this one, that entire exchange would have been lost on you. But for those of us here from the beginning, we know these characters so well, we react right along with them ❤️
I don't know, but I'm a young fan of the XFiles and I never watched a show as good as it. All the mysteries... I got hooked after 8 episodes and finished it all. Obviously I have watched the movies, of which the first is my absolute favorite. After I finish watching the XFiles, I can't get hooked on any TV series, because I don't find the same ability to create mysteries and also such natural, naive and deep chemistry between two characters. Now I am watching "Twin Peaks", I must say that it reaches the xfiles levels
If Diana was from when Mulder was coming out of the academy, then how do the lone gunmen know about her? Mulder was already in the FBI when he was chasing Susanne Modeski, and that's when he first encountered them, and when they first came to be.
because they are the lone gunmen who are cleaver enough to know who they are dealing with and they are his underground informants outside of Mr. X and they would know more about him then he knows about their work.
Did anyone else not really care much for the Diana stuff? It was clear she was just a poorly written character to cause tension between mulder and scully. I would’ve also loved to see Mulder jealous more like scully in this scene lol
Just because you didn't like her doesn't mean she was poorly written, I'd argue she was well written or you wouldn't have cared. I didn't like her either.
@@davidgraham8299 I mean I care when I think things are poorly done in shows I like lol. She’s not the worst written character ever but her character to me seemed like such obvious jealousy bait.

But what? In the eleven season Scully and mulder are more than platonic love, she is pregnet in the last chapter
Jealousy is never justified. It's always infantile.
Nope she doesn't love him
Love Scully's reaction.. jealous
OMG her jealousy is so obvious! The Lone Gunmen must have known she wouldn't take that news well lol
I just realized this too. They already knew she was in love with him. They looked scared to tell her; to hurt her with this info.
Yeah thats why Byers hesitated b4 Frohike told her

I like how he puts on a bulletproof vest and has to unlock a thousand locks to let her in then just leaves the door unlocked lol
I love this bit too
"First tell me who (the f*ck) Diana (Bitch) Fowley is.... that's the question Scully really wanted to ask.
Season 5 scully was so unhinged 😂 she didn’t give a damn who she talked crazy too
Byers... You are not helping.

This is exactly why she deserves him she always would go to extreme lengths to find out about his past even if it had to do with jealousy.
Why don’t see programs anymore where great writers go to make REAL mysteries!

*x files theme plays*
Because she was still around when Mulder found the X Files. He was still with the BSU when he was chasing Modeski.

Not hard to figure out, is it.
Can anyone please tell me about the cartoon at the end of the video
That's from the next scene, where Agent Fowley is babysitting Gibson Praise as he watches cartoons.
Silver Surfer! Ran for only 13 episodes.
