You offer some great tips for people, really good advice. I'm currently having another Gremlin episode, renders to a point but then freezes and preview window turns green, so no way of knowing what was at that point. The only effect I have used is a border, and that's nothing new. I've checked and double checked and all properties match input files. I've copied the files afresh and put them in a new Vegas window. That didn't work either. Now I'm doing something I saw someone on RUclips show, with saving the files and then importing them so that they show up in the timeline streamlined without all editing cuts, etc. It's added an extra hour to rendering, but worth a go I suppose. Been going with this since midnight last night, sure hope this fixes it!
Hi Helen (I hope I remembered your name correctly?) Have you ever cleaned the Temporary Files Folder ? Sometimes when this fills up with garbage temporary files, they can become corrupted and cause the "green screen" to appear. Go to Options/Preferences/General. Temp files folder location is at bottom of window. Copy this address. Close program. Then open a Windows Explorer window like in Documents and copy the address into top address bar. You can safely delete everything in this folder and anything important will regenerate itself the next time you open Vegas. You could also perform a full program reset, which will delete the temp files folder AND default all settings back to factory defaults. On my system I have an Nvidia GTX460 from 2011. I have stopped updating the Drivers for this, due to age of Graphics Card. Some newer Drivers can cause problems with older Graphics Cards, so it's best to not update. You may have to roll back to an older driver that is more stable with your Graphics Card. Regards Derek

Certainly something that I'll try, as I don't believe I have ever cleared out the cache. After many hours of failed attempts to render last night, I turned the GPU set to Nvidia graphics to 'off' and the whole thing rendered fine. When I went to look at the video afterwards, I noticed that it had saved to the internal hard disk instead of back on the external drive that had all the source videos, etc. Rookie mistake! I usually do that already but somehow had forgot. So, not entirely sure which thing fixed it, whether my conscious efforts to change GPU power or the unconscious luck of having it save some place else! Just pleased it finally rendered. I've run into a new problem that has persisted for a couple days now. Every time I try to open Movie Studio Platinum 13 I get a report problem pop up box that says "Movie Studio Platinum has stopped working". I can't even open the software anymore. Hey Derek question about speeding up a video file. When I speed up a clip that has the audio attached, I can see the speed percentage rate on the bottom right hand corner of the audio. However, when i remove the audio portion of the clip the speed percentage rate disappears. Is there a way to keep the speed rate continuously consistent with each video? I know this has no relevancy to the topics in this video but, I know you would be the best person to ask. You've helped me tremendously, understand Vegas with all your tutorials. My problem is when I start it up it shows only the darn timeline now!!! No video preview window etc... so I add that but it's not the same and not integrated like you have there. The video preview window is separate. No control. And how the heck am I supposed to zoom a video?

The problem is being caused by iPhone video. iPhone video uses a variable Frame Rate. All video editing program use a Constant Frame Rate only. You need to use a video conversion program and convert all your iPhone videos into .mp4 before importing into Vegas, and then they will work OK. There are many different video conversion programs you can use to do this. It sounds like your project file has become corrupted, in which case you need to start from scratch. What happens if you start a new project and go directly to Save As, without any video yet? Make sure you are saving to Documents/Vegas **your version** Sometimes people have the file save pathway set to something weird, that just won't work.
1. Re-boot your computer. 2. Copy the file and move into a new folder, then try importing again. If the same error occurs, the file is corrupt OR you have a Windows file permissions problem on your computer.
I have Sony Vegas 17 Platinum and whenever I move my mouse over any buttons, the texture for the button gets really distorted and sometimes completely disappears. Open Project Properties and go to AUDIO tab. Do you have Audio set to STEREO ? If not, change to STEREO. Do you render to template with STEREO and not 5.1 surround ?

If you have been using Vegas Pro 11 for a long time, the first thing I would recommend you do is a full program reset. Over time, garbage files will build up in the Temporary Files Cache, which can cause problems. When rendering to Mainconcept AVC/AAC, go into Advance Mode and set Encode Mode to CPU only. Also, try turning OFF your GPU. Go to Options/Preferences/Video/GPU Acceleration - turn OFF. Re-boot computers and then try another render. I have found that re-booting your computer before a render, can often help.
thanks I found out that if I remove the plugins in the clips I don't use the problem is gone and rendering time is shorter, I had two timetables of two camera's and one camera with closups had lots of noise in it so I put on a downloaded plugin noise reduction and I put it on the hole timeline so when rendering the pc had to render this even when I didn't use that clip and I used the other timeline but I will try your tips too, I use sony vegas for years now and I have never done a full program reset, thanks for your reply
So today I downloaded Sony Movie Studio 13 today, i made a small video and and attempted to upload it to youtube. it asked me to log in and when i typed in the necessary information, it said the server did not recognize the username or password. So i figured i wasnt entering right. so i updated my username and password for youtube and google to make sure everything was the same. still doesnt recognize it. I need help.
NEVER use Upload to RUclips function in Movie Studio. Because RUclips keeps changing it's login coding, this app is broken. Always MAKE MOVIE and select SAVE TO HARD DRIVE. Once the video has finished rendering, press UPLOAD button on YT and then navigate to Documents/Movie Studio Projects/Your Project/yourvideo.mp4 Make sure to select large video file and not tiny project file which contains no video.
Not sure if anyone still running this channel but im missing the Sony internet rendering template from my output otions, i always had it and used it back when i was on a win7 OS but now on Win10 the options are gone and any of the remaining options arent compatable with youtube or decent quality standards, even looking at the project templates file in the program file has something close but the option just doesnt exist in movie studio

What do you mean by "capture video" ? What exactly are you trying to do ? Tell me the steps/menu items you pressed. If you have been using the "Capture Video" function, that only works for capturing video recorded to digital tape.
No ! You can use a program like OBS "Open Broadcaster Software" to record directly from your webcam. This is exactly what I use to do the same thing. No! Resetting does NOT delete any saved project files.

What does it report when you select "Show more details"?
You need to find which exact file is causing the problem.
