Lmaooo that's not illegal, I've seen this move hit quite often and secondly idk why you'd stop wrestling last 7 seconds but I guess that's what separates champions from the average
HaqueSMASH hi bud. Yes you are correct, single hand high croch lift. It is a common back or front side lift. However. The reason this was illegal. The kid hit the ground head first. In high school and lower age brackets. The USA national rule is, no matter the take down, no matter the speed of the shoot, throw, or drop, the person cannot hit the mat head first. In the state of Florida. The thrower must make contact on the mat before the throwie, and the throwie cannot contact the mat head first. So go and check out the take down again. @5:00 minutes. This single hand lift requires you to lift your opponent to his toes or freely into the air, then rotate the opponent in the air with the non lifting hand. I honestly think this kid sliped from sloppy technic and without him having concern for safty. I do not think he intended to drop him on his head. But with three other fups...
@@Lee_Arashi hey I know I’m three years late 😅 but what about the throwees arm making contact first, or does it have to be the person executing said throw
@@AllBraunZeroBrains honestly that detail varies region to region. Some rules require hip first, arm first shoulder first. Some are so strict you cannot make your opponent leave the ground. The best rules I like is no opponent head contact first. Freest and safest rules for expression of technique. It is also the most basic rule of throwing in Judo.
The guy that lost by DQ was clearly way better at wrestling. His stance, his footwork, his shot, his aggressiveness were all 10 times better than his opponent. His opponent seemed to be a first or second year wrestler based on his body positioning. He's lucky he got slammed to win. He probably got told by his coaches to lay there because it was the only way he was going to win. I'm serious this stuff happens unfortunately. He may have been banged up but I've been banged up plenty of times when it's not called a slam and you either have the choice of getting back on the mat or losing. He was facing the decision of getting back on the mat to lose or sitting out to win...

Idk if you’ve ever played a physical sport. There’s Journal’s published that details how paralysis being way after the initial contact. Library’s have databases that google and Siri want allow you to utilize. 1st lesson is free! Thanks
As someone who grew up on a farm in North Texas, the kid in red is a Farm Kid and not on Roids. You can look at his physical strength and tell, it comes from tossing hay everything else that's heavy and you just have natural strength. It especially plays a roll when it comes to the smaller muscles that people who work out don't use, farm kids pick up heavy stuff every day in awkward positions that plays a critical roll in strength needed for wrestling.
That ref was bs, not a single stalling on blue and he was running the entire time. Also the guy said 7 seconds left so unnecessary, you keep wrestling until the ref blows the whistle until then, keep going, we didnt have a clear angle of the slam but from what i saw, looked fairly clean. Edit: watched it at .25 its clean, knee came down first, from my experience you can slam as hard as you want, as brutal as you want, as long as the knee hits first you're golden.
@@jasoncagle4557 not talking about the guy that got dropped dumb dumb, im talking about the guy in red, his knee hit first as long as that happens you're good
@@youtubesgay Some people just don't realize that wrestling is one of the most physical sports out there, im currently wrestling in the high school level and it just started and i've already had injured ribs slammed and cranked on, its tough but people dont realize that this is what we sign up for
Sorry but that is not all that goes into the interpretation of a slam. Red knew he did it. It happens. Slippery opponent and force and loss of control. Not likely intentional but it happens.
Wrong, he has to return with control. IMHO I see that the red coach didn't argue too much of at all. He knew he should've made a better attempt at controlling the return instead of just dropping him on his head. I don't think I would've called illegal, but also as a ref, he doesn't have the ability to stop and replay in slow motion. So yes that official is OK for calling it a slam.
Everyone is so upset for a completely LEGAL body slam! I was rooting for the guy in red. He's just way more trained and he was taught to show no mercy, no weakness, and to never show that he is tired. They both fought hard but in this case the guy in the red ultimately won! Everyone there seems to be sore losers.
As a former wrestler and current wrestling coach, I think what got the wrestler in red in trouble here is that the rules say when you lift your opponent off the mat, you are responsible for bringing them down safely. If you look closely, the first part of the blue wrestler's body that touches the mat is his head. That, combined with the amount of force put into the slam, is why the ref stopped the match and signaled a "potentially dangerous" illegal move penalty (putting his hand behind his head). In my personal opinion, the slam was borderline and could've been called either way. Tough break for the red wrestler.
Hey coach, I truly understand and agree with your statement. I ran through in slow mo. For the life of me it looks like the top of the shoulder blades that landed first. I think he just got folded pretty hard. Take another look and if you don’t agree can you reference a time stamp?
Seemed that if he hadn’t arched like a fish out of water he woulda landed on his shoulders and back. Bout like the targeting rule. He has no way of knowing the kid will flop before he hits the ground. But I defer to your experience on the mat. I am not that experienced in the rules of wrestling.
@@Patrick-fk4ef hey coach, I reviewed it again. I saw the point you referenced to. You spot on. I still don’t think it was malicious, but that’s a moot point when it comes to wrestlers safety. Still thanks for such an insightful review of this video.
@@jackdobrinski It doesn't matter what the blue wrestler does. Once the red wrestler has lifted him off the mat, it's the red wrestler's responsibility to bring him down safely.
I wrestled all through high school i've was put to the mat like that numerus times i had the strength and condtioning and intestinal fortitutude to take my oponent with me or role out this boy was miss matched
That was totally legal and we have parents who have no clue. They think they know the rules but they don't. And the kid was totally fine, he was just playing it up like he was hurt because the parents were convincing him he was actually hurt.
I’ve wrestled for at least 7 years and that move was legal. It’s unfortunate he got hurt and hope he’s healed up but there’s nothing wrong with that move
The comments below saying it wasn't a hard slam are missing the point. Watch it closely again. You will notice his head position as he hit the mat. I'm really glad he didn't get a serious neck injury.
The title is misleading. I'm not sure if I saw anything controversial other than the 2 pt takedown that took some extra time to get called. An official might interpret Red shoving Blue out of bounds, but blue should be working back to the mat and Red is just wrestling. So nothing to call there. I was surprised with the reaction from the crowd. It is a Slam, when the Red wrestler returns the Green wrestler on their head. No official should see it differently. It is not an intentional slam. Red is trying to put his opponent directly to his back, and if done in control, completely legal. The moment Red takes Green into the air, Red is responsible for getting Green back to the mat safely. For everyone that thinks this slam was legal, these are high school kids. How many times do I need to drop you on your head before you agree it should be illegal?
Whoever posted this needs to learn about wrestling and how it works. You go from whistle to whistle. 100%. Sometimes that will happen. If the boy in blue wasn't so tired, he might have had a chance but he was getting his ass beat. If you can't hang with the big dogs, stay under the porch. Know the rules before you get all DRAMA QUEEN on something you know nothing about.
Well said.. except I don't believe the kid in blue was tired. I believe he had no chance because he looked scared frightened and clearly had no confidence.. like you said. THIS IS A. SPORT FOR THE BIG DOGS! You need to take the loss just as good as if you won the match.. so what if he's better than you . Start practicing and training harder and get him next time , you always wrestle the same people more than once..
By NFHS ruling a wrestler is responsibly for a players safe return to the mat.It would be up to the official to determine whether the wrestler did attempt a safe return.By rule if opponent cant continue then he is DQed
It looked bad, but that is technically legal and a very common mat return. I feel like half of the videos posted about "illegal" slams are posted by upset parents who are not very familiar with the aggressive nature of the sport.
I don't see how this was all that controversial the move was perfectly legal at least from my experience yeah sure the kid got hurt but that's a part of it you agree to that when you sign into being a part of the sport you're literally participating in a combat sport wrestling was designed to interview people that's like the whole point now we try to avoid getting injured and we try not to injure our opponent but it's very possible that they could possibly get hurt in the process and every year when everyone signs their athletic packets and everything else they acknowledge this it's just a part of it it's a part of being in the sport it's an honor and a privilege when that's earned every day so I mean it's hard to whine and cry about it
It was a very legal move. And it's a sport that YOU WILL get hurt and some point . Is damn near impossible to avoid No matter how good, I wrestled for 12 years. And got hurt lots of times ,and I hurt lots of people by accident most of the time it was because they would stretch out their arms when getting slammed.. this spot is not for everyone.. but you got to put on your big-boy pants when you put that name on that line.
Hmmm, so high crotch mat returns are illegal and controversial? I hope none of these people ever attend a Freestyle or Greco tournament if they think this is even remotely harsh... If you're a helicopter parent wrestling is the wrong sport for your kid.
I agree I do beleive as folkstyle rules go though that was illegal with that being said I have no doubt the only thing injured was his pride or lack, there of disgraceful to take the win away from, his. Opponent
I got DQ'd for something similar. Sometimes the weaker athlete provokes situations like these. In my case the kid kept throwing up his hands when I could not get in on a sweep single or blast double. So when I finally got in deep on a shot I scooped him up and slammed him as hard as I could. He cried and laid on the mat for like 15 mins. Woulda been by 100th win but I had to get it later on in the team tournament. Glad it was a team tourny and not one that was individual.
Muscle memory can sometimes be a bitch.. if the opportunity opens ... OOOH WELLS! Im sorry but I trained to win not to show Mercy..it's a combat physical sport. I say get tough.. and if you get the shit slammed out of you. lurn how to recover fast or take a loss with your spirit held high shake the man's hand and say I'll get you next time..
We wrestled like that back when and no one blinked an eye. No we're in woos world. And we wouldn't have given the satisfaction of looking all hurt. The kid in the red is just naturally strong.
Actually, that was an illegal slam, he landed head/neck 1st. You must land on the back/shoulder blades, period. A guy did that same slam to a teammate, we waited for the match to end, rushed them and beat the living Jesus out of of half the team, the coach got it also. We found out later our teammate was paralyzed.
Roids would not do a 17 or 18 year old any good. 2nd the kid in blue is putting on a great act, watch the slam, it wasnt that hard, finally the kid in red is a far superior wrestler, he wrestles fantastic aggressively the kid in blue wrestles like a susie(scared). Good job red.

These arm chair athletes thinking you need steroids to make such a move.. GTFO..Those are the same guy's who think they own a team or player. BUT live at home in a basement with Mom.
Right.. In highschool i wrestled for claymont with Cody no love. Shit happens. I've had coaches slam me harder than that. Get TF up and try again.
I love how the dude right in front of the drama queens immediately gets up and starts clapping 🤣🤣
100% slam. "A slam is lifting and returning an opponent to the mat with unnecessary force."
2022-23 NFHS Wrestling Rules Book - NFHS © 2022. Additionally, when you lift your opponent, you're responsible for their safe return to the mat. Lastly, this referee is terrible.
Lmaooo that's not illegal, I've seen this move hit quite often and secondly idk why you'd stop wrestling last 7 seconds but I guess that's what separates champions from the average
Because he got slammed on his head.
It was a slam,no,doubt but I agree with your over all statement he did not apear to be injured and should have manned up and finished the match
You obviously don't know how it feels to land like that in slam. How about you have him slam you like that, then talk.
Not a slam.
Lebron move at best. More like soccer flop.
@@rx8355 it’s called wrestling, can’t handle it do something else. the talented kid was just better. oh did they all get participation trophies to? what a bunch of crap
He was better but not ten times better... At ten times better he would have gotten those takedowns. Be real that kid was putting up a good fight
@RX I do, and it's a part of wrestling are you trying to pussify wrestling now
Blue wrestler is an actor. After the push out of bounds and the mat return he is way too dramatic.
Yep
He knew he was gonna lose in the end . I bet he faked it hoping his opponent would be disqualified.
0:05 That coach was flexing hard like he was getting ready to do a ufc walkout entrance lol
I've been slammed like that multiple times before. They never stopped the match lmfao. I blacked out and woke up to a cross face. It's just fucked up over here on the islands ig😂😂😂
Bro im dying rn ...boul said he woke up getting crossfaced 😂😂
Bro thats how it was years ago now its a bunch of sensitive Sally's whining. "Hes gotta be on roids" 🤣🤣🤣. Its wrestling not tap dancing or the drama club where this OP needs to be.
Yup

The person commenting doesn’t know what he is talking about, guy in red outclassed his opponent end of story
Kid in blue deserves an Oscar. If you are hurt, you wouldn't be rolling around like that.
I was thinking it was acting worthy of a soccer player.
Idk if you’ve ever played a physical sport. There’s Journal’s published that details how paralysis being way after the initial contact. Library’s have databases that google and Siri want allow you to utilize. 1st lesson is free! Thanks
@@criticalthinking1592 I would have looked for an immediate neckbrace. I don't see any deceribrate or decordate posturing.
Did you not see the way his neck was bent when hitting his head??? Idiot
Beautiful form and strength.
"What the fuck is that!?" Wrestling, genius. That's what you're there to see.
That ref was bs, not a single stalling on blue and he was running the entire time. Also the guy said 7 seconds left so unnecessary, you keep wrestling until the ref blows the whistle until then, keep going, we didnt have a clear angle of the slam but from what i saw, looked fairly clean.
Edit: watched it at .25 its clean, knee came down first, from my experience you can slam as hard as you want, as brutal as you want, as long as the knee hits first you're golden.
his head hit the ground first not knee that aint legal

If Red's knee hit the mat before Blue's torso or head, then it's legal. It's wrestling, not chess.
@@dolfan13jmb Pretty passionate defense of cowardice.
Literally the definition of wrestling camera boy
Guy in blue thought it was gonna be like wwe
Everyone is so upset for a completely LEGAL body slam! I was rooting for the guy in red. He's just way more trained and he was taught to show no mercy, no weakness, and to never show that he is tired. They both fought hard but in this case the guy in the red ultimately won! Everyone there seems to be sore losers.
Dude in the blue was huffin n puffin...
Totally legitimately out classed

It’s wrestling, you can get hurt ,shit happens… get better and stronger for the next one it’s not the end of the world. Glad he’s okay💯
Wait you mean, someone signed their kid up for a combat sport and they got hurt? No way.....
@@placedthere4126 i also looked at it in slow motion. You can see the blue wrestler's head land first at 5:05.

That was totally legal and we have parents who have no clue. They think they know the rules but they don't. And the kid was totally fine, he was just playing it up like he was hurt because the parents were convincing him he was actually hurt.
If I ever shot my opponent out as much as these 2 bozos my coaches would be making me run stairs until I couldn’t walk😂
i agree. It’s fun doing a smooth double leg… until sombody sprawls on your ass and you get pinned
When you are on roids you can have a sloppy shot
Yup...while carrying coach on your back.
If I remember from my high school wrestling days the souplex was the only illegal throw.
Its called wrestling. Legal action, defend yourself at all times.
2:39 that wasn’t a push, the kid in the blue fell.
Whoever is filming sounds like a basketball player. Legal move
That flip was legal dude wasn't ready for it and he over reacted when crowd responded....poor sport in blue...
So wait a second . They gave him the match because he was slightly injured from a legal move? Did every one get a trophy?

@@2themoon863 he was being sarcastic
Guy in blue would be crying if he was wrestling freestyle, perfect lift.
I think blues feeling we’re just hurt
I feel like dude was just embarrassed he spazzed like that so he kept rolling with it.
Why is he on roids? Because he is better? The guy in blue is a pansy. The throw, not slam, is legal and was well executed.
Wrestling with soccer mom energy corrupting it.
A lot of people watching wrestling, but not a lot of people knowing wrestling in that crowd
I was there for that! haha It wasn't even that bad. lol All the parents almost went at it lol
You were surrounded by cowards.
Honestly that was just a really good return the kid was more embarrassed than hurt that he got planted on his shoulders from that move.
That "slam" was blown way outta proportion
By NFHS ruling a wrestler is responsibly for a players safe return to the mat.It would be up to the official to determine whether the wrestler did attempt a safe return.By rule if opponent cant continue then he is DQed
“What is that?” That is a fantastic mat return.
I cannot believe that this is considered a questionable throw!
It's part of wrestling I use to wrestle in school back in the 90's when suplexes was legal then and they use to teach those throws in the day.
5:00 you're welcome
4:56 here's the slam
You can tell the kid filming this is a gamer nerd. This match is his first taste of reality in ages.
The dude filming/commentating needs to grow a set 😂
It looked bad, but that is technically legal and a very common mat return. I feel like half of the videos posted about "illegal" slams are posted by upset parents who are not very familiar with the aggressive nature of the sport.
Bc...that's exactly the case!
Is damn near impossible to avoid
No matter how good, I wrestled for 12 years.
Opponent
That "slam" is an actual move and the other kid faked it so he could win because he was losing. You can just assume every slam is illegal
Nothing wrong with what he did. Standard wrestling move
Saying someone is on roids cause they push you or want to fight - amazing Karen’s everywhere
Imagine loosing, but winning because you got manhandled
I got DQ'd for something similar. Sometimes the weaker athlete provokes situations like these. In my case the kid kept throwing up his hands when I could not get in on a sweep single or blast double. So when I finally got in deep on a shot I scooped him up and slammed him as hard as I could. He cried and laid on the mat for like 15 mins. Woulda been by 100th win but I had to get it later on in the team tournament. Glad it was a team tourny and not one that was individual.
Congrats on the 100th. That's a lotta hard work, focus, and determination.
@@NuckingFuts95 probably means blocking the shot with his hands

Actually, that was an illegal slam, he landed head/neck 1st. You must land on the back/shoulder blades, period. A guy did that same slam to a teammate, we waited for the match to end, rushed them and beat the living Jesus out of of half the team, the coach got it also. We found out later our teammate was paralyzed.
Not illegal. Very common move.
I totally disagree that was barely illegal!!! The kid was simply weak

@@thehyenachief347 I dont actually think it should be called as a slam, and wrestling on the mats sure as hell should not be related to the streets. In a street fight wrestling is useful but its not supposed to be a reflection of unrestricted violence , joint locks and chokes from jits, elbows and knees from Mthai, eye gouging, and concrete skull breaking slams, these are things your not going to see in a sport that middle schoolers engage in. Honestly if it were up to me Id say slams should be legal, I wrestle at 285 but can scoop opponents up pretty good so Id have an advantage early on.
