You will for sure hit pan in the orange shimmer soon so I'm glad you decided to level up!! I am working on the Cream and Sugar quad right now too!! hehe it is such a nice palette to use all of the shades in one look. I have used the darker matte very lightly in my crease mixed with the light matte, so you should try that as a transition with a super fluffy brush and a light layer (as well as outer corner like you talked about).
The orange shimmer would probably work in a five / six color look.L3 on outer third , then the C+S deeper shimmer on center with the icy one as inner corner. If the deep matte is harder to pan maybe use 1 shimmer plus the 2mattes + added transition / bronzer?
