  • A New Approach in Psychotherapy “ACT”: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
    April 26, 2015
Parents of children diagnosed with autistic spectrum disorders (ASD) face great challenges, however, very little attention has been paid to their psychological needs. Research on Acceptance and Commitment Training (ACT) with this group of parents suggests that ACT assists in helping them better adjust to the difficulties in raising children diagnosed with ASD. ACT focuses on providing coping strategies for negative thoughts and stressors while enhancing psychological flexibility in the service of achieving core life values. This talk introduces the key concepts of ACT that have been empirically demonstrated to help parents of children diagnosed with ASD.
