Hey, there!
In this video, we'll be going over how to perform a standard Bent Over Barbell Row and Single-Arm Dumbbell Row as well as some common mistakes to avoid when doing doing these two exercises.
I myself have made ALL of these mistakes and am still working to improve my form even after three years of lifting. Please don't sweat it if you find yourself making any of these mistakes! The only way to get better is to recognize where we can make improvements and practice! You got this!

For single row dumbbells your back needs to be at 45 degrees angle, knees off the bench. Shoulders should always be above hips slightly.
its so hard for me to feel these in my back!! its frustrating haha. idk if i’m using too much weight or something :\
Engaging your back muscles is definitely difficult and takes a lot of time to get down! Don’t beat yourself up over it. ☺️ Yes, I think that decreasing the amount of weight you’re using would be a great idea as well as even trying this exercise with a resistance band-using different equipment/doing different variations can sometimes help us connect with our muscles better. 💕
It’s helpful to make sure your front supporting arm is farther forward in the bench

Can I do a standing barbell row with dumbbells instead? Like just exactly how you'd do a barbell row just with dumbbells in each hand instead, because it's pretty inconvenient to do each side with single handed dumbbells rows on a bench

Do you mind me asking what type of mask you use for the gym , and do you feel safe at the gym during this time? I want to go back because weight lifting helped me lose weight faster than cardio. But I'm currently a little scared?😕
It’s just a regular cloth/cotton mask from Barbell Brigade! ☺️ I personally feel safe at the gym still, but I know it’s different for everyone depending on where you live and your personal preferences. 🤷🏻♀️ Do whatever works best for you! When gyms were closed, dumbbell & resistance bands workouts at home weren’t quite as fun as the gym, but they still helped get my body moving in the meantime if that’s something you’d want to do. 🙌🏼
I had the same concerns as you! I’ve been going to the gym since September and the best thing is to find a time where it’s not that much people there. My gym has spray bottles that people can carry around to clean the equipment too. I wear a cotton mask and it’s fine!

I really struggle keeping my back straight. The top of my back curves (it becomes rounded) an I look like an idiot. I dont feel like I'm working nothing. Any tips?

Hi are barbell bent over row working for lower lat?
Yes, they definitely can be! However, I personally might do the single arm db row over the bent over barbell row if my goal is to target the lats since the lats can be more easily isolated with the single arm db row, but both exercises are great! ☺️🙌🏼
